[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly. Episode 90. Woo! Wow. I know, right? All right. And it is jam-packed. Like, jam-packed. So let's not waste any time. Let's get at it. It's so full we might have to take some out. Oh, no. Yeah, right?
[00:00:32] We could trim the fat. See what I did? There you go. First up, you're it. Go ahead. Yeah. The cow has returned. The beloved Rec Center cow is out out front mooing everybody as they drive by. I do love him. I do. Did you see the- And what does that mean? What do you mean? Did you see the udders on that thing? That means half off all memberships during all of February? Or the rest of the month, I think. Yeah. Through the 20th. Through the end of the month. Yep.
[00:01:01] No, I didn't see the udders on that thing. No? When you drive by again, check them out. Oh, my gosh. Okay.
[00:01:38] Hey. And they are looking for help. Um, so you can apply today. Must have a valid driver's license. It's 28 to 40 hours per week. Doing stuff like mowing, trimming, park cleanup, ball field prep, special projects, that kind of stuff. So if you're interested in that, um, call Taylor over at the Rec at 330-558-6838. Um, must be willing to work one weekend a month, it says. So if you're looking for some part-time work, give them a call. Yeah.
[00:02:06] We got Brunswick City Schools, lots of, uh, talented individuals and teams. What do we got? We are the city of champions this week because I think I found like, I don't know, three or four of them or something. I don't know. There's a lot. So first kicking it off, we're going to say congratulations to the Brunswick varsity basketball team on a record breaking win against, uh, the opponent mentor, um, the other night. The team shared school record and points per game coming in at 109. Wow.
[00:02:34] And also a county record for three pointers. They had 23 pointers. So the team remains unbeaten in the GCC. So I'm guessing that's the division, correct? Right. We'll update you next week on, uh, they took on on Strongsville. So we'll see what happened there. Very good. And then, uh, this was a really cool photo and, uh, congratulations to BHS Brunswick gymnastics team on their outstanding performance at the greater Cleveland conference meet senior
[00:03:01] Aubrey Mueller led the way with multiple podium finishes, including second on the bars and third all around and outstanding performances from juniors Delaney McKelvey, Madison Dempsey, and Eli Rejas plus freshmen, Alyssa, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. In her post season debut. Uh, they secured an impressive second place with the finish of 136.55 and five of the athletes earned medals.
[00:03:28] So we've got two teams that I didn't even know existed in Brunswick. We have a diving team, which I didn't know that. So congratulations to, um, athletes, Alex Burns on earning a trip to state diving meet. She was the highest, um, Medina County finisher in the district competition earning second place in, uh, good luck on state. And then I never knew. Did you know that we had a wrestling girls wrestling? I did know that. Yeah.
[00:03:55] Lady blue double, um, tournament, um, back on the mat and, uh, congratulations to the girls. They've got, um, some podium stands there. Some, you know, they're up there one, uh, it looks like maybe one and two, maybe didn't have a post for it. We just have the picture. So I don't have all of the details and then rounding it out. Right. What do you got with, um, yeah, good question. There you go.
[00:04:20] Rounding it out with, um, the girls, uh, district champs for the swim team. So, um, way to go swim team for BHS girls. You are the district champs and way to go ladies. I told you it's a city of champions this week. Yeah. Well, it's a lot. Sure is. Yeah. All right. Your turn. I'm exhausted now. Yeah. Uh, let's see. We got, uh, the back nine virtual golf is making progress. They'll be opening their memberships soon. It's pretty exciting.
[00:04:48] Something to do in town that we don't have currently check them out on their Facebook page or online. And, uh, yeah, look at that place. It's coming all along. Right. Also want to remind you too, that, um, there's another fundraiser for the LLS students for the leukemia society. They are raising money with a March madness bracket. So there are 64 chances to win. If you're interested in that, um, just look at the graphic or go to their Facebook page Brunswick for a brighter future and all proceeds go to the leukemia and lymphoma society.
[00:05:18] Uh, now it's time to head over to Roger at Houndstown for the dog of the week. This week we have Fraggle. Fraggle. I love it. Hey guys, it's Roger from Houndstown. Just wanted to give you an update this week. We have Fraggle with us, uh, from Brea animal rescue. He's a little over two years old. He's a male, um, boxer pit mix, high energy, but doing great with the other dogs, uh, that we've had him with. He also has been through the obedience training program. So he knows all of his basic commands.
[00:05:48] Um, he is good, not only with dogs, but also with humans. Um, and would love to try to get him adopted out this week. So if anybody is interested in doing a meet and greet, please give us a call here at Houndstown 3 3 0 4 6 0 3 0 5 2. Uh, we can arrange a meet and greet. Also love for you to, uh, share the posts that we have out on the, um, Cleveland Brunswick Facebook page with any friends or family, or just share it on your feed, um, to get more
[00:06:17] exposure to him. And then again, hopefully before the end of the week, we find Fraggle, his, uh, forever home. So, uh, we'll be back at you next week, but for now, uh, take care and have a great weekend. Talk to you. All right. So if you're interested in Fraggle, check out, uh, Roger over at Houndstown or contact Berea animal rescue. So we are hitting it off now with, uh, things to do in the two one two, and we've got over 20 things in the next five days. Maybe there's a lot, there's a lot.
[00:06:46] So sit down, buckle up. Here we go. Starting off with beer. Beer. I'll do this one. That means it's you. Yeah, I know. Tonight, Thursday, the 20th at 3 PM, they'll have special tapping of smiling eyes over at Ignite. That's on North Carpenter road behind Mark's Plaza. If you've never been, check them out. They have great flatbreads and their smiling eyes is a Irish dry stout just in time for St. Patty's day.
[00:07:12] And sticking over at Unite, um, Sparkle live trivia every Thursday night, seven o'clock. So, uh, next one is tonight, seven and eight. It says games every Thursday over at Ignite Brewing. Yeah. I like those because they're just one hour long. You're not there all night if you don't want to be. Very cool. Also tonight, we have music night over at Havana's Choice Cigars. It's every third Thursday where you can come and enjoy some local music.
[00:07:39] If you're into cigars, it's definitely something to check out. Ah, nice. All right. Ready, set, kindergarten. Uh, tomorrow, Friday the 21st, 10 a.m. to 1130 a.m. at the Community Library. Learn kindergarten readiness, skills and stories, activities and crafts. Um, get the kiddos prepared. This is for preschoolers ages four and five. [00:08:09] That's tomorrow, um, at 1030, between 1030 and 1130, sorry, at the Brunswick Library. Yeah. And, uh, this one's kind of exciting. Tomorrow night at 630 p.m. at, uh, Spring Miss Farms is Angel Eyes Ohio Casino Night. This is inaugural fundraiser event. They're celebrating the launch of their new chapter in style. And, uh, you can get all that information, uh, at angelleyes.org for their casino night. Very nice.
[00:08:36] Uh, Mr. Breeze Band, Leonard Skinner Tribute Band will be at, uh, Mapleside tomorrow night, starting at 630. Um, always get tickets for that. They're, most of those shows are a sellout. So check it out. General admission, $15 plus $2 online fee. But you can also get a whole table. You can get a private table for 200 bucks. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I think you could fit 10 at that table if I remember correctly. I think so. I think you're right.
[00:09:01] Uh, also going on tomorrow night at Skyview Lodge is Friday Night Wines. Friday Night Wines is sure to melt away the stresses of the work week. Uh, they'll have a house DJ to rock away the night and lots of other stuff going on. It's a cash bar. There's a charcuterie board available for purchase. It serves one or two. And the event ends at 11 o'clock. It's, uh, free admission and, uh, Eventbrite registration is required for tables. And that's, uh, tomorrow night, Friday, 7 p.m.
[00:09:30] I love how they describe it as, do you see how they describe it? It's like going to a wedding without the work. Yeah. You don't have to bring a gift. Right. And there you go. Don't have to get dressed up. You can just go casual. I don't, I don't go to weddings with cash bars. Mm-mm. Yeah, that's true. Very true, true. Uh, what else we got? Uh, we got TNP karaoke also tomorrow night at 8 p.m. till 1 a.m. That's over at Brunswick VFW. Anyone's welcome to join and sing and have a great time. Very nice.
[00:10:00] Um, $3 bag sale at the Brunswick library this Saturday from 10 to 2. Come and fill up the bag. Again, only three bucks. Well, they will provide the bag for you. Put as many stuff, uh, many items as you wish in there. Gently used books, DVDs, and CDs will be available. Again, that's Saturday from 10 to 2. All right. Uh, also Saturday, we have to remind you about boozy brunch at Hot Shots. They do that every Saturday morning. That starts at 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. And the menu looks fantastic.
[00:10:30] A gravy train, French toast woody, breakfast burrito, tower city stack with, uh, three layers of chocolate chip and bacon pancakes. Good stuff. Oh, and don't forget the mimosas and Bloody Marys that they're also offering. And remember that's every Sunday from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. over at Hot Shots. Check them out. Very nice. And moving right along, uh, Saturday night is a date night. And that's at Grace Baptist Church. And that will be at 5 p.m., 5 to 7 30 p.m.
[00:10:58] And what do they got going on here? Let's see. That's designed for dating, engaged, or married couples of all ages. It's $50 per couple, includes dinner, giveaways, games, and a great show with a magician and comedian, David McCreary. Space is limited, so make sure you go to Grace Baptist Church online and, uh, get your tickets soon. Yeah, I thought that was a pretty cool event. That is. Sounds like a good night out.
[00:11:22] And Bianca's Saturday, the 22nd from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m., is Dom Nice over at Bianca's. Is it Nice or is it Noce? Uh, I forget. What is it? Noce? Do you remember? I don't know. I don't know. But I just, you know, it's Italian, so let's just go with, and his first name's Dom, so let's just go with Noce. Okay. Noce. Noce? I don't know. We'll be singing at Bianca's 6 to 9. Check him out, no matter what his name is. The food's great, and I'm sure he is too. Right, exactly.
[00:11:52] Um, heading over to Gandalf's Pub Saturday night, here's another option for you. 7.30 p.m., it's live music with Big Sky. 7.30 to 10.30, talking about great food over at Gandalf's Pub. That's in Valley City, in case you didn't know. Great duo, and they will start again at 7.30 Saturday night. Yep, and Manzo's has live music most Saturdays, and this is no exception, at 8.30 p.m., Destiny and the Mad Men go on. Wow. And then they've got Cruisin', right?
[00:12:22] Oh, that's over at Rico's. Mm-hmm. Sorry. Wrong. Different bar, other end of town. Cruisin' Saturday, February 22nd, 8 o'clock p.m., and that's over at Rico's Bar & Grill on the corner of Sleepy Hollow & Pearl Beer Shot & Kitchen Specials. They keep it very simple in their ad, didn't they? Yeah. Can you imagine doing all that on a Saturday? What? Oh, all of those events? No. Yep. You know what? We're going to have to get like a limo company just to go bar hopping and drop people off and, you know, then take them back home at the end. Dining up.
[00:12:51] And then on Sunday, you'll need to recuperate with Stretch & Surrender by Grace & Gratitude Yoga if you can get out of bed. Oh, it doesn't start until 6 p.m., so you're good. You have all day to nurse that hangover. 6 p.m. over at Grace & Gratitude Yoga, that's on Center Road. Check them out for Stretch & Surrender. And then they have a Serenity sound bath at 7.45 p.m. that same day. So it's 60 minutes of a Sunday sound bath to conclude your weekend. That sounds really good. I'll tell you what. Have you ever done one of those? I have not.
[00:13:21] Okay. I was a little skeptical, but let me tell you, they're so relaxing. So relaxing. So definitely check them out. Hmm. Very good. All right. Crank it back up. Amy's Arbor's monthly karaoke party. That's Wednesday, the 26th at 7 o'clock. Goes till about 11-ish, four hours. You be the rock star. That's their monthly karaoke party. Again, the 26th at 7 o'clock. Nope.
[00:13:49] And then heading out to next weekend, we have the Brunswick Area Historical Society's Indoor Simulator Golf Outing Fundraiser over at Bunker Hill Golf Course. You can head over to Bunker Hill's website and pick up tickets to that. All day fun at the Indoor Golf Outing Fundraiser. Yeah. Helps keep their costs down. And you know, they're a nonprofit. So you got to do that fundraising. Yeah. Those always help, I'm sure. Sunday, March 9th, Sip and Craft Brunch over at Amy's Arbor.
[00:14:17] So we're letting you know a little bit out about this one. So it looks like a St. Patrick's Day sign for the craft. And Luck of the Irish cost is $45 per person, includes brunch and all the materials to make your own welcome sign. So if you're interested in that, go to their Facebook page and register and sign up for that. Yep. And this is way out all the way March 9th. Valley City Firefighter Association is having their pancake breakfast. That's 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
[00:14:46] It's adults, $12, seniors and veterans, $9. Under 13 is $8. And under three is free. The family max is $40. And you can put that on your calendar. Yeah. And it might be the second too. We'll have to check and let you guys know next week. But on my thing, it says Sunday, March 2nd as well. So second and the ninth. Yeah. But we'll check on that and let you guys know next week. All right. Wind it up with the beer. Go ahead. Finish it out. No, this isn't beer. This is an annual wild game dinner. Have you ever had alligator?
[00:15:16] I just saw Great Lakes Brewing and thought it was beer. I don't know. No, I have not. Have you? I have. Yeah. And then they have venison, breaded elk, buffalo, and vanilla crepe. Now that is unique. $150 per person. $80 deposit. Well, you just threw... Wait a minute. You can't just throw vanilla crepe at the end of it. Yeah. What wild game is in vanilla crepe?
[00:15:45] Alligator and venison, they're both of them. Yeah. And vanilla crepe. So, yeah. A lot of people are into that. That's over at Gandos Pub on Monday, March 3rd at 6 p.m. Obviously, you do need to pre-register so they know how much alligator to buy or go catch. But it looks like a pretty good one. Where do you go to catch alligator around? I don't know. I mean, yeah. Who do you... You can't just pick that up at market 42. I mean, can you? That's true. You never know.
[00:16:14] Hey, you never know what's going to be in there. And don't forget, all courses are paired with beer from Great Lakes Brewing Company. So, if that's something you're interested in, Monday, March 3rd at Gandalf's Pub and Restaurant. Yeah. I'm exhausted. Yeah. That was a lot. It was, but we got through it real quick. We did. Yeah. And don't forget, wait. And we do, I, we skipped over something too, because that's what happens when we don't have links on our, on our, what you call it, whatever that this thing is that we read.
[00:16:44] Um, Saturday, March 1st from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. Is the annual Brunswick Kiwanis Spring Craft Fair, all homemade items. Saturday, March 1st, 10 to 3 at the Rec Center. That's it, Brunswick. Thanks for listening. See you guys. Bye. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. No, no, no, we're not doing that. No. I don't know why you're into this, but we're stopping it right now.
