[00:00:13] to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly. Okay, we're live. What? We're live. Why do you do that to me? I said let's go. It's the second week in a row. I'm like... It's 5.04 or it's time. We're late. It's time.
[00:00:42] People are sitting there waiting. Be the breath. Alright. Episode number 167. Woohoo! We're doing it. Alright. Here we go. Okay. Breaking news. Beer. Christmas beers are back at Panini's. We're done with pumpkin. Moving on to...
[00:01:11] He just flipped in November 1 and bam. That's it. Christmas is here. So Panini's in Brunswick has... I don't have to post up. I'll let you talk about beer. Yeah. Sam Adams Winter White and Great Lakes Christmas Sale on tap. And they have a list here of other ones that they'll have coming soon. So... If you're a beer drinker, it's always looking forward to the Christmas beers. The Christmas sales.
[00:01:40] Do you like Christmas sales or do you like the summer shanty stuff better? Um, I like the summer shanties in the summer and the Christmas sales in the Christmas. I don't know. I like the... You're like... I like the change. I like all beer. I'm glad they don't have Christmas sale year round and I'm glad they don't have summer shanties year round. It's just... Yeah. You know? It's like imagine if Coke only came around for November or December or if you're a pop drinker. It'd be okay. You'll still be alright? Yeah. Okay. I'm glad they're right.
[00:02:10] Anyway, moving right along. Yeah. What do you got? Talk about our tree? Yeah. Let's talk about the Brunswick Christmas tree lighting event that's going to occur on Saturday, November 21st. Santa will be there. I know Brad Hoffman from Hoffman Tree is out scouting trees right now. Yeah.
[00:02:35] He's got it narrowed down to a few and he'll be selecting the one that he and his team cut down, transport, props up, and he'll be putting up the lights on it this year. He took that on. Yeah. And we've added 1,500 extra feet of lights thanks to sponsors. And some other decorations, right? And some decorations. Yeah. Yep, yep.
[00:03:05] It's going to be a bigger event this year. Lots of thanks to the Human Bean and Celeste Tasty Treats for hot cocoa that we're going to have. Copycat Cookies is going to be having a decorating station indoors. Man with some volunteers to help decorate. Chicken sandwiches, compliments of Chick-fil-A. Those are always a hit. Yeah. Always a hit. Hopefully it won't be as cold as last year, but just cold enough to make the event good.
[00:03:35] Face painting sponsored by Hendrix Family Dentistry. And we're going to have a community choir, some photo opportunities with Santa, of course, and swag bags for the first 200 families. And we got to see some of the things that went into that. Yeah. The holiday 3D specs. Mm-hmm. Good stuff. You look at the holiday lights and you see, is it angels or stars or something around it? Angels. Angels. We cannot thank St. Mark Lutheran Church enough.
[00:04:05] Mm-hmm. Um, they have been amazing. Mm-hmm. Um, they did an electrical upgrade. Yes. Just so that we can keep putting the tree there. Mm-hmm. Um, Kristen has been amazing. Sherry. Mm-hmm. We've kind of, you're like, hey, let's form a committee. And now we're like, okay, you guys. Yeah.
[00:04:31] But no, they've done an amazing job getting us organized and getting sponsors and all that good stuff. Mm-hmm. So thank you to Nicole as well and Pastor Steve. All of them. And we'll have more, we'll have some more posts between now and then. And during that event, they're going to collect donations for dry soup packets for Oaks Family Care Center. They're always in need of those types of things. Or kids snacks. Or kids snacks. Yep.
[00:04:59] And that brings us to this next post, Oaks Family Care's current needs. Um, they're looking for shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorant, razors, other basic hygiene essentials, um, which they give to the community, to people in need. Um, other baby essentials like baby shampoo, body wash, body lotion, baby food, um, size six diapers. Apparently they're good on the other sizes. Right?
[00:05:28] Pampers or Huggies preferred it says. Mm-hmm. Okay. So now's the time everybody likes to, you know, pitch in and give stuff. Mm-hmm. So. Tis the season. Yeah. Uh, moving right along and this one doesn't fit on the screen, but that's okay. There's a cute cat instead. Uh, Brunswick, uh, community members are forming a new TNR MMF. Clot your mouth.
[00:05:56] Uh, TNR, trap and, uh, release. What's MMF? I don't know. I thought it was a wrestling term or something, a wrestling group or something. I don't know. They'll wrestle with the cats. It's WWE. Uh, but if you're interested in that, you can search the Facebook group Brunswick TNR MMF helpers. Uh, they're currently trying to get funding through the city. Some of these, uh, volunteers do it in Medina and they get, they get, uh, some funding from
[00:06:26] Medina city, uh, to try and reduce the cat population. Nice. Yeah. All right. We go from cats to dogs. Right? Yeah. Moving right along. Molly is the pooch of the week with, uh, Houndstown. Roger over there has had Molly over there. Uh, three year old mixed breed, adorable. Half. Look at that face. Mm-hmm. It's half and half.
[00:06:54] Um, if you're interested in Molly, please, uh, reach out to Roger at Houndstown or Brea Animal Rescue. Um, look who's this play? Oh, look at there. She is. Is that a medium sized dog? Not, you know, Yeah, it's a good sized dog. Good sized dog. So not something. Not an ankle biter. Not an ankle biter like mine. Um, and not a horse. So. If you're thinking about adopting, reach out.
[00:07:23] Brea Animal Rescue or Roger from Houndstown. Mm-hmm. Red Onion has their calendar out for the month. Oh, for November and December. Wow. They got two of them there. Mm-hmm. So they've got everything from trivia to, um, daily specials, boozy bingo. Um. Lots of live music. Lots of live music. Yeah. That's why I was just looking at it. Wow.
[00:07:51] Um, and then they're doing a fish fry November 22nd. Mm-hmm. Yep. So check that out. Go over to their Facebook page and check out their calendar for the next two months. Right. Uh. Oh, wait. What? Speaking of Red Onion. That's what you love when I go off script. Yeah. Um, the tree place is moving from where the winery is now, Crooked River Winery, to the remember the tree place was right on the corner there at Perlin Grafton. Yeah. They're gonna be in the back of the Red Onion.
[00:08:21] Is there enough room? Well, I hope so. Well, I guess I figured that out. They've got the- Well, I guess I figured that out. They've got the poles up there, so. Okay. They've already started setting up. So if you're looking for the tree place, they're gonna be at still Perlin Grafton, but just on the other side of the Red Onion, so. All right. Nice. And, uh, moving right along. This one doesn't fit on the screen either, but the BEAT, um, is a Brunswick school program
[00:08:46] where students create, um, articles and videos by interviewing community members and business owners, and, uh, you know, I just- We've appeared on that. Yeah. We appeared on it once, and lots of other, um, businesses and community members have as well, but you can check them out and see all the, um, and there's so many students doing
[00:09:10] it that there's so many different, um, topics and interviews, and I just encourage you to go to thebeatemc.org, um, and check out all the articles that these students are writing. They're fantastic. They're, um, gazette-worthy, um, articles, uh, to learn all about the community you live in. And, um, really great program. That is really neat.
[00:09:39] That's probably one of a kind. I mean, there's not too many schools, I don't think, around here that do that. Not that I know of. Yeah, and they've got, uh, a great studio in the high school, and I think they're gonna be upgrading it for the new high school. And, uh. And, uh, the desk where we sit at, do you remember the story? No. It came from Fox 8. Ah. So it's a real anchor desk. Mm-hmm. It's got the, the built-in teleprompter in the desk. From 1980. Yeah. Very cool. Yeah, it's really cool.
[00:10:09] All right. Let's go. All right. Moving right along. What are we talking- Oh, it was nice to see European market. Mm-hmm. Pop on. Specialty foods, uh, snacks, all that kind of stuff. So don't forget about European Specialty Food Market over on Pearl Road. If you haven't been there and tried their sausage or their pierogies. Mm-hmm. Yum. I would love for him though to do like something of the month where they explain some of the
[00:10:38] stuff because there's so many things in there and I don't know what to do with them. Yeah. You know what I mean? So hand me a recipe or put a package together or something like that. But, um, they carry tons of desserts and stuff for the holidays so you can get your baklava there. And that looks like what, apple strudel or something there? Well, they have a very good selection of European beers, especially German, that you can't find too many other places. I see. There's a theme on this side of the show.
[00:11:06] They sell, and they sell, uh, cake by the pound. What? So yeah, if you want to go in and get a- By the pound? Yeah, you just want to buy a slice of cake. Oh, those long ones? Yeah. They sell, oh, I didn't know it was by the pound. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Then it's good cake. Well, don't forget, it's one of our hidden gems. And so if you're looking for something different for the holidays or just don't want to cook one night, head over there and let them help you out. Yeah, I keep thinking to myself what percentage of Brunswick's population has never been in there.
[00:11:37] Hmm, probably a lot. But everybody knows it's there though. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's like, but- Stop in, take a look. Yeah, absolutely. Check them out. All right. This one's exciting too. I'm kind of sad though, because I didn't get over there before they closed. I kept saying I was going to do it and then the next thing you know, they were shut down. The sign was gone. I'm like, all right, but Luna's in case you haven't heard, you've been under a rock or
[00:12:02] something is moving over to the plaza where Cleveland furniture and marks and all that stuff over there. So they will be open the ninth at 7am it says. Yeah. So that's kind of exciting. That's exciting. Yeah. Nice bigger location, more visible, same great food. No leaky roofs. No leaky roofs. Yeah.
[00:12:31] Very happy for them. Congratulations. Yeah. That's really great. And I'm sure the food will be equally as great. Well, I'm sure it'll be the same. Yeah. I put this one in there because there's another cluster home development talks in progress. This one is on Grafton road near East lawn cemetery. Um, they're going to have a discussion about it on the 19th at city hall.
[00:12:58] Um, yeah, that's about it. Yeah. Thanks. Uh, and then there's another one. This one's not in Brunswick or Brunswick Hills. This one is down three Oh three, just past two 52 before you get into Valley city downtown. It's in Valley city. Um, very similar neighborhood going in over there. All right. So building all over the place. It's hard for me to keep track of all of them. They wouldn't build them if people weren't moving in. So that's true. You know, it's true.
[00:13:28] It is what it is, I guess. All right. Tomorrow night at market 42 is country line dancing lessons at 7 PM. They start. And, um, I think it's like $10. You can just go to, uh, the event page and, um, check it out. That is with, I forget Jane. Is that her name? Uh, see Jane Shaw. There you go.
[00:13:55] Um, tickets are $10 for an hour and a half. Um, introduction with a pro. It says, yeah. You know, boot scoot boogie on. Yeah. So go check it out. Um, this one caught my henceforth comedy is having a dinner and a show one night only. This is Friday at 7 30 PM at sky view lodge. Um, I saw him on, I think it was Tik TOK or maybe Facebook reels.
[00:14:24] Um, pretty funny guy. And that's, uh, this Friday at 7 30 PM. You can purchase tickets on event, right? Something different in Broadway. Yeah. I like that. I like that. All right, here we go. Looking ahead and secret at center next week is waiting behind the door. Wait, your favorite weekly traditions are back on. Sorry.
[00:14:49] I should have read this ahead of time, but anyway, happy hour Tuesday through Thursday from four to six Tuesday is grill dinner and chicken marsala night. That sounds good. Wednesday is all about a classified cut steak night. And Thursday is the cover story burger or chicken night. So go check them out Friday.
[00:15:13] It looks like there's going to be live music from seven to 10 and, um, something going on just about every night of the week. So that's a great schedule. That's a great looking schedule. So go to the secret at center on Facebook and check them out for all the details. Here's another event over at market 42. They seem to be doing quite a few of them. This one is a Christmas tree, clay creation.
[00:15:41] It's a what Christmas tree, clay creation. That's what I said the first time. Um, Saturday at one to three 30, um, get ready to roll up your sleeves and create a Christmas tree. Like this one, you can make it light up or not. Um, join throne for perfection, sister business of kindred hive crafts, right at market 42 and make this, um, from raw clay. Yeah. So you're going to be making it.
[00:16:11] They don't probably don't bring the kiln. So you probably have to give it to them. They kill them and then they bring it back or you pick it up at market 42, um, your tree, your colors. You can make a green, red, snowy white, whatever you'd like. Um, it is $30 per creator and it's seven and over. Your registration includes also pro supplies, instructions, glaze, and kiln firing. Um, lots of information there.
[00:16:37] You can find that, um, on thrown for perfection, um, on Facebook and register for that. Yep. Or you go to a market 42 event page. They get all their stuff listed. All the events. Yep. Nice. Sure. Do. Sure. Do you Saturday, November 7th from five 30 to eight 30. Back at back to Bianca's it says, and what is it?
[00:17:06] No, it's the squirrels. Girls with squirrels. Girls with squirrels are back. You spotted them. I did. Cause it says girls and squirrels. So I figured it out on there. Um, but I need to go check them out cause I just like the name of the group. Yeah. So if you haven't heard them already, um, maybe join me up there. I don't know. We'll see. Maybe Saturday, five 30 to eight 30 at Bianca's grab dinner and, uh, listen to the girls and their squirrels. Mm hmm.
[00:17:35] Uh, over Saturday at eight 30 over at Manzo's sports and spirits is eerie cats playing live never recover. Always delicious booze over at Manzo's sports and spirits. All right. Murder at the Christmas feast. Mm hmm. That sounds scary. Yeah. And it shows it's not sold out yet.
[00:18:01] Crooked River Winery, which is the new wine place over at the corner of Pearl and Grafton. Um, tickets are available on event bright and it says, um, doors open at five 30 with the game starting at six 30 in the event space at crooked river winery. They do have a small event room. They do have a small event room pizza buffet and one drink include wine cider or beer cash
[00:18:29] bar and additional food options available all night long. Mm hmm. Each suspect has their own scripted dialogue with carefully crafted clues to help you solve the murder. As in like the butler did it with the candlestick. Yeah. In the pizza. Fun times place. Um, so check that out. Um, so check that out. If you're one that enjoys murder mysteries, that is going to be Tuesday, the 10th at six 30 PM over at where? Cricket river one.
[00:18:59] There you go. And I read that they have wine flights and I'm not a wine. I'm not a wine drinker and, uh, but I can. No, we're talking. Um, starting at six 30. Are you having fun? I have no idea what's going on with the computer right now. Okay. Focus, focus. All right. Moving on. Moving on.
[00:19:25] Uh, Brunswick parks, the group that, um, is helping reshape and build our, um, city parks is having a cleanup day on 11 22 at 10 AM. This is over at North park and they're inviting anyone, uh, who is interested to come join them and, uh, clean up. I hope the weather is good that day and, um, see a lot of faces. Yeah. What are the chances of, of having like a 60 degree tree lighting?
[00:19:55] It's, it's pretty, pretty nice outside right now. I mean, it's a couple of weeks away though. Will it last 15 days? I mean, you know, will people be done playing grand theft auto that comes out on the 19th that they can go clean up the park? Really? Uh, we know what you do when you're not working, right? A little video gaming. Yeah. A little bit. Uh, this one doesn't fit on the screen either, but it's breakfast in the barn with Santa.
[00:20:22] You can head over to mapleside.com and purchase a early bird tickets. They have four seatings, December 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th. It always sells out. And, um, get your tickets now. Yeah. Early. Yeah. And a chocolate fountain. How many chances in your life to get to go to have a chocolate fountain? That's like a Willy Wonka thing right there. Yeah. Forget Santa. He might just want it for the fountain. Right? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So what else do we have to talk about?
[00:20:52] Because I like this, like, free thing that we do at the end of the podcast now. At the end? I got something. Okay. I saw some activity. Yeah. At the old donut land. I saw a post of what it's going to be at the old donut land. I'm afraid to say it, though, because then we get yelled at. Mm-hmm. Well, they posted it. Oh, did they? Yeah. They posted a Facebook Reel. They have a Facebook page. That's true. If you know where to look. Right. Well, for some reason, I... It popped up. I like to click everything Brunclink, so I just...
[00:21:21] My feed is filled with Brunswick. It popped up. Yeah. Maybe we'll let them announce it, though. Did they announce it? They didn't announce it, did they? Uh, yeah. Oh, all right. Go ahead. You get yelled at. Go ahead. Yeah. They did. It's PNP... Egg Roll. Egg Roll. So they're originally a... I hope I remember correctly. They're originally a food truck, and they were based in... Was it Chicago? Mm-hmm.
[00:21:50] They moved out here. They've been doing farmer's markets, and they're ready to settle down. Do a brick and mortar, huh? And that location caught their eye. I mean, you know, they probably still have people try to go there for donuts, and you walk in and now it's egg rolls. It's one way to get business, I guess. I don't know. But they're long egg rolls. I haven't had them myself, but that's kind of exciting. There was some other things on the menu.
[00:22:14] There was some wings and some other things that I can't recall right now, but yeah. Yeah. Something new going into Brunswick. Pretty exciting. You're excited about that. I am. I am. Something different. Yeah. You know? Got another coffee shop. Mm-hmm. Although you said you had Dutch Brothers while you were out of town. I did. And it was very good. It was pretty good. Yeah. So... Yeah. And this one had hot food.
[00:22:44] So we'll see if... Not every Dutch Brothers location has hot food. Mm-hmm. That one going into KFC is gonna be a pretty big size. And I'm sure the size of that Dutch Brothers, they might use it as the district office, you know, because there's none in the area. Yeah. Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah. Yeah. So... And I guess the only other thing that I have to mention is on the 9th is the fundraiser
[00:23:11] for the firefighter that died in the fire two days ago? Yesterday. Yeah, from North Royalton. Two days ago from North Royalton. And all the local area McDonald's that are owned by a certain gentleman, and there's a list, we're gonna put it up in the banner. And again, that's on the 9th, which is Monday, right? Yep. But you have to do it through your app. But anyone who orders through the app, you get 10% of that will be donated to his family.
[00:23:41] Mm-hmm. And he did... He left two kids and a wife behind. So... Yeah, you don't... Somebody said that the other day, you don't hear of that often. You don't hear of firefighters. I think we forget how dangerous that really is and that. So if you could please help on the 9th at... I mean, both of our McDonald's are participating in that. Yeah. So both of Brunswick's. So that would be great. But details will be in the banner a little bit later tonight.
[00:24:12] Uh, tomorrow is a Dime to Donate at Donutland for Brunswick Educational Foundation. I think you can go all day, show the flyer or mention it and a portion of your sales will go to Brunswick Educational Foundation. Did you make your stop already? That's for scholarships. Uh, how am I gonna make my stop tomorrow for... I went today. I mean, I'll be there tomorrow. Uh, I didn't... I didn't muck up the bathroom. That's one thing. Ugh.
[00:24:41] Did you see that post? So... I did. Three... They called them kids, but I think one of them is 20. Right? Went into the restroom and threw paper everywhere and... Spit on the floor. Spit on the floor. You could see that in the... And then one kid looked at the video. Yeah. So I don't know if because they're YouTubers, they knew they were gonna get caught maybe? Maybe. And they just did it for... To... To get views? To get views?
[00:25:11] I don't know. I don't know. But being the gracious woman that Amanda is... Mm-hmm. Um, the boys came back up and, um... Yeah, either they saw it or the community saw it and found who they were really quick and came back up and helped clean it. Yeah, came back up and cleaned up, so... And, uh, Donutland posted about it, that they did the right thing to come back and fix their mistakes. Right. So, anyway... We're leaving.
[00:25:38] The, uh, the giant concrete thing is gone, right? That is gone. Next to Penn Station, so, uh, it's leveled out. The roundabout's still an issue. The concrete's gone. What else? Yeah, I would imagine a for sale sign will go up now, now that that's just taken down and the seller can now sell it. So, Brunswick has a law that you have to, like, prepare... The land first. The land before you can sell it. So, like, if you have, like, a building that is so, you know, that one was condemned. Mm-hmm.
[00:26:07] So, you can't sell a condemned building, so the seller had... The owner had to destroy it before they could sell it. So, here comes this for sale sign. And, uh... Whatever happened to the land between... Behind... Or, next to Duncan? Is that sold? No. Nope. Still for sale. See, if you guys want to know anything about that kind of stuff, Lucas is the one to... I gotta... Thanks to AI, I get a weekly report now. Um... So, yeah, we'll keep an eye on that and see, uh, what else is going in.
[00:26:37] What, anything else going in that we need to talk about? You guys have any questions? You want to know what's going on around town? I know. We got some people watching today. Oh, yeah. We got nine people watching right now. What? Nine? Now I'm nervous. I know, right? I didn't think anyone... Anyway. Mm-hmm. Oh, I have to tell you. I was at Medina Economic Development Awards thing last week. I saw that. Cool Beans got an award. Cool Beans got an award. Laura got an award for community engagement or support or something like that. Yeah. Um...
[00:27:06] And the owner of Market 42 was nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year. And, um... There was a couple of Titan construction actually won a... Won an award. But anyway, I'm milling through the crowd and this guy stops me and he goes, Hey, I listen to your podcast every week. And he goes... I said... He goes, yeah. He goes, I'm one of the 10 people. I'm like, thanks. Thanks. Thank you to our 10 live listeners. Yeah.
[00:27:36] We do have quite a few listeners on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Play. Um... You can even hear it on Alexa. Yeah. Um... But it's fun. You don't get that as much as I do, I don't think. Because I always text you after that happens. You're out of the community a lot more than I am. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the purple hair and the big mouth. So what can I say? You can spot her from half a city away. Um...
[00:28:02] But anyway, but thank you to the gentleman at ID Images in the Industrial Parkway. Mm-hmm. I met him... I met them... Did I meet them at Business in the Barn? I don't know. At Maple Sun? I think I might have. Probably. Yeah. So... He said he and his wife are on the page a lot, and he listens to the podcast, so we thank you. And I don't think anybody has any questions right now. Nope. We're good.
[00:28:30] So, with that, we'll see you guys next week. Take care, Brunswick. Bye! As always, I want to thank you for checking out the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast and for supporting local Brunswick area businesses.
