[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:00:09] We're on episode number 75 now.
[00:00:13] Okay, it's gonna be a long one too.
[00:00:15] Yeah, this might be the most content we've ever had. So let's keep each one short and sweet.
[00:00:21] Alright, let's get to it. Go!
[00:00:23] Brunswick Blue Devil Marching Band won Grand Champion at the Sound Spectacular this past weekend.
[00:00:30] Did you hear them play as you drove by or did you step and...
[00:00:35] I did not. I was by in the afternoon and saw, you know, starting to get a little crowded around town.
[00:00:43] So that's good. I hope they had great audiences. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
[00:00:48] And seventh grade football won the conference. After that undefeated season, they went on to win the conference.
[00:00:56] So congratulations.
[00:00:56] We just got a lot of champions in town, huh?
[00:00:58] Mm-hmm.
[00:01:00] So speaking of champions, okay, not the best segue that I've ever done.
[00:01:04] But Kyle and his team of ladies over at the Human Bean...
[00:01:08] Oh, I think I saw a guy in there too, so I shouldn't say that.
[00:01:11] Mm-hmm.
[00:01:11] They just killed it. They did like three days worth of revenue in one day.
[00:01:17] They had to close down a little bit early, all for the love of Denise, who's Brunswick School's teacher battling breast cancer.
[00:01:28] Denise is going to be receiving close to $7,200 almost.
[00:01:32] They said the line was literally repped around the building all day long.
[00:01:36] Yeah, but it moved.
[00:01:37] They were in there...
[00:01:38] It did move.
[00:01:38] They were in there...
[00:01:39] Yeah.
[00:01:39] Moving and grooving.
[00:01:41] Yeah.
[00:01:41] I mean, I was there obviously in the morning on the way to work and it was...
[00:01:45] They were killing it.
[00:01:46] They kept it moving very, very well.
[00:01:49] So...
[00:01:49] Yeah.
[00:01:49] And this week is Spirit Week over there.
[00:01:51] I stopped by, I think it was Tuesday, and they were in their 70s gear.
[00:01:56] The remainder of this week I think they have a Minion Day, a Disney Day, and then of course Halloween.
[00:02:00] Oh.
[00:02:01] That's a lot of fun.
[00:02:02] Good people over there.
[00:02:03] Thank you, Kyle and your crew.
[00:02:05] Denise, we love ya.
[00:02:06] Yeah.
[00:02:06] Keeping you in prayers and thank you, Brunswick.
[00:02:08] So, stop by and see them sometime this week to let them know you appreciate their support as we support them back.
[00:02:14] Absolutely.
[00:02:15] What else we got going on here?
[00:02:17] Hey, what else we got?
[00:02:17] I know.
[00:02:18] We're just like lagging today.
[00:02:19] I'm like so tired.
[00:02:21] Oh my gosh.
[00:02:22] All right.
[00:02:23] But lag...
[00:02:23] Speaking of lagging...
[00:02:24] Okay.
[00:02:24] See?
[00:02:25] I'm trying to do all these segues and it just doesn't work.
[00:02:27] But if you put your car in concrete, it's gonna lag.
[00:02:31] It's gonna be really slow.
[00:02:33] I feel sorry for this person.
[00:02:34] Like, what if it was a new driver?
[00:02:36] Yeah.
[00:02:37] Like, I don't know who it was.
[00:02:39] No one ever said.
[00:02:40] But this poor...
[00:02:41] I guess is an electric or just a tiny little guess?
[00:02:44] Like it's a smart car.
[00:02:44] It might be...
[00:02:45] Is it a smart car?
[00:02:46] I think it's...
[00:02:48] It's not very smart for a smart car.
[00:02:50] I don't know if that's electric or not.
[00:02:52] But it's so small, it'd probably fit right between those cones.
[00:02:56] So, it's like, oh, I can fit.
[00:02:57] Yeah.
[00:02:58] Right.
[00:02:59] Just thought they'd go through there and they got stuck.
[00:03:04] So, nice freshly poured concrete up to the bottom of the car.
[00:03:10] Oops.
[00:03:11] Oops.
[00:03:11] Oops.
[00:03:12] And I think that the number one comment on there, like repeatedly was, you can't park
[00:03:16] there.
[00:03:18] So, I had to chuckle about that.
[00:03:23] Anyway.
[00:03:23] All right.
[00:03:24] It's a slow news week.
[00:03:25] What can we say?
[00:03:26] We've got a ton of events though.
[00:03:28] So, let's get going.
[00:03:29] Here's another slow news week.
[00:03:31] I think this lady was very upset that she was in Aldi's parking lot and she saw an elderly
[00:03:37] couple going through all the carts.
[00:03:39] You know how you go there and people don't...
[00:03:42] They don't take their quarters.
[00:03:44] They just leave it unlocked for the next person.
[00:03:47] Yeah.
[00:03:47] I usually hand mine off.
[00:03:48] Yeah.
[00:03:49] Well, some people will just leave it there unlocked for the next person.
[00:03:52] You know, like pay it forward, whatever.
[00:03:55] Um, but I guess she saw an elderly couple, um, collecting all the quarters and pushing
[00:04:02] all the carts back in to get those quarters.
[00:04:04] Um, so she posted, leave those quarters for the next person.
[00:04:08] A lot of people said, just let it go.
[00:04:10] Don't worry about it.
[00:04:11] How about, what do you, what do you think?
[00:04:12] I think that people need to think before they post to 37,000 people.
[00:04:18] Like, that's what I think.
[00:04:22] I mean, maybe they need it.
[00:04:24] Maybe they need the money, you know?
[00:04:26] Or maybe they're loaded because they save their quarters.
[00:04:30] I don't know.
[00:04:31] I, I just, that's not one that I would, but she was very passionate about it.
[00:04:36] So, you know, we let it go.
[00:04:38] But if you post in this group, you're definitely going to have some people that are, uh,
[00:04:42] anti whatever you say and pro whatever you say.
[00:04:45] And that's just how it is.
[00:04:47] Me, uh, you know, it doesn't bother me if they, if they take the quarters, they take the quarters.
[00:04:51] They're there for people to use for whatever reason, I think.
[00:04:56] Yeah.
[00:04:56] I mean, who are, you know, who are we to judge?
[00:04:59] You know, I don't know.
[00:05:01] Well, we judge.
[00:05:02] Who are we kidding?
[00:05:03] We knew, you know, we judge, but oh my gosh.
[00:05:06] All right.
[00:05:06] Get me out of this one.
[00:05:07] Let's go to the next one.
[00:05:09] The next one.
[00:05:10] Next one was just as fun.
[00:05:12] Uh, this person posted in the group trying to invite you.
[00:05:16] And that was it.
[00:05:20] Okay.
[00:05:20] So let me explain.
[00:05:21] I approve that one because Lucas taught me something every once in a while, especially
[00:05:25] when things are a little slow.
[00:05:27] We're just Lucas's, his exact phrase is let her rip.
[00:05:32] Let her rip.
[00:05:34] Let her rip.
[00:05:34] Let her rip.
[00:05:35] I'm like, oh, should we post this?
[00:05:37] And he's like, yeah, it's been kind of quiet.
[00:05:39] Let her rip.
[00:05:40] Yeah.
[00:05:40] Gotta keep those numbers up some way.
[00:05:43] So anyway.
[00:05:43] Yeah.
[00:05:43] I never found out what she, what she was trying to invite us to.
[00:05:48] Did you?
[00:05:48] Oh yes.
[00:05:49] Yeah.
[00:05:49] At the very end.
[00:05:50] Oh.
[00:05:51] She said, thank you all for attending.
[00:05:56] Your comments made me laugh.
[00:05:57] I'm so glad funny people exist.
[00:05:59] We need more happy in this world.
[00:06:01] Everyone have a great day.
[00:06:04] So, you know, I don't know if she originally posted it to like that, but she enjoyed all
[00:06:09] the comments as much as I did.
[00:06:11] Well, that's good.
[00:06:13] Yeah.
[00:06:13] Good, good, good.
[00:06:14] Um, the next one was really cool.
[00:06:17] This was a trooper from the Medina post, a state trooper, rescued a dog off the highway.
[00:06:24] Yeah.
[00:06:25] Let's watch that video.
[00:06:30] Medina, I see it.
[00:06:32] It's off the right side.
[00:07:48] That was a-
[00:07:49] Yeah.
[00:07:49] That is neat.
[00:07:50] Dangerous, but uh, dangerous for the dog and the trooper, but I'm glad they're both
[00:07:54] safe and uh, I don't know where that dog went.
[00:07:56] And the pooch is back home safe.
[00:07:58] We're glad to report that.
[00:08:00] We saw that update and everything like that too.
[00:08:02] So, that was kind of neat.
[00:08:05] Alrighty.
[00:08:05] You're up.
[00:08:06] What you got?
[00:08:06] Um, the Hinckley Township welcomed their new fire chief, Matt Payne, who was formerly
[00:08:12] from Brunswick Hills.
[00:08:13] He was the fire inspector.
[00:08:15] He, uh, jumped to the other side of Brunswick to Hinckley Township.
[00:08:18] Yeah.
[00:08:19] I think he, um, actually, he was with the township and with the city.
[00:08:23] So, he's still doing the city stuff.
[00:08:25] Mm-hmm.
[00:08:25] Just left the township and took on, uh, big shoes to fill from what I understand from the
[00:08:30] previous chief there.
[00:08:31] But if anyone can do it, Matt can do it.
[00:08:32] I'm so excited for him and congratulations, Matt, on the new position.
[00:08:37] It says, oh, he is retiring from Brunswick at the end of the year.
[00:08:41] Yeah.
[00:08:41] So, he'll just do his full-time gig over there in Hinckley.
[00:08:45] Well, we'll miss you, Matt.
[00:08:46] But until then, congratulations.
[00:08:48] Congrats.
[00:08:49] And, uh, I saw a post that Brunswick is hiring for their fire department.
[00:08:53] It's a 48-hour work week.
[00:08:55] Got some other benefits here.
[00:08:56] The starting pay is $57,700.
[00:08:59] Uh, after the third year, you make $80,000 plus.
[00:09:03] And then there's a way to apply.
[00:09:05] So, if you're interested in becoming a firefighter for the city of Brunswick, here's that info.
[00:09:09] Great department.
[00:09:10] We had them at Trunk or Treat this past weekend.
[00:09:12] They were amazing.
[00:09:14] There are three guys that Chief Glaner sent over there.
[00:09:16] The guys were just so engaging with the community and just, um, really appreciate the city of Brunswick.
[00:09:23] Yeah.
[00:09:23] Fire department.
[00:09:24] Uh, let's see.
[00:09:25] What do you, did you slide another?
[00:09:27] This, this is not Brunswick related.
[00:09:30] It's not even close to Brunswick.
[00:09:31] But my point to this is, so the city of Strongsville government is doing a really good job on their Facebook page.
[00:09:38] I don't know if they find the questions from inside their community groups and then answer them on their, their government page.
[00:09:45] But it says a new restaurant is looking to take over O'Charlie's building.
[00:09:49] Another broken egg cafe, which currently has a restaurant at Crocker park has filed plans in Strongsville.
[00:09:55] And then earlier this week, they also, um, said a lot of people are asking what is going next to the get go on Pearl.
[00:10:02] And they said it was a daycare and gave some information on that.
[00:10:06] So I thought it was really cool that they're, um, being very transparent, uh, engaging in the community and posting in such a manner.
[00:10:13] Yeah.
[00:10:14] And I think, uh,
[00:10:14] It'd be nice to see some of that attraction around home, right?
[00:10:17] Is that what you're getting at?
[00:10:18] Yeah. Brunswick could get a little bit better at, uh, their communication just, uh, on the fly.
[00:10:23] Well, let's.
[00:10:24] I think the rec center and the parks have started coming around and really doing a good job with that.
[00:10:29] But I think the city.
[00:10:30] They have.
[00:10:31] Um, yeah.
[00:10:32] Could take note of that.
[00:10:33] They have, parks and rec is doing a great job, um, with that.
[00:10:37] And, um, I don't know, gone, whatever I was going to say is gone.
[00:10:41] But anyway.
[00:10:42] Yeah.
[00:10:42] But we do have a couple of council people involved.
[00:10:45] We have, um, school board member involved.
[00:10:48] Mm-hmm .
[00:10:48] So next up, Kelly posted this and wanted to know if she was the a-hole or not about turning left onto Laurel from Maxwell.
[00:10:57] Mm-hmm .
[00:10:57] And someone on Rockland wants to continue straight on Maxwell.
[00:11:02] Mm-hmm .
[00:11:02] Do they have the right of way?
[00:11:04] What do you think?
[00:11:06] 360 comments and I still don't know which, which is correct.
[00:11:09] I'll be honest.
[00:11:10] I don't know.
[00:11:10] I have no idea.
[00:11:11] Yeah.
[00:11:11] So this is the kind of post that, you know, somebody post this in our group.
[00:11:15] I would love it if, you know, somebody with, with some knowledge of who has the right of
[00:11:20] way.
[00:11:20] And I don't know.
[00:11:21] I don't know if every police officer has this answer because, uh, you know, at a, at a four-way
[00:11:26] stop, I thought you'd just go in circles, right?
[00:11:29] Or this is a two-way stop.
[00:11:31] That's all right.
[00:11:31] Well, and isn't, isn't this the intersection though that is, there's a lot of accidents
[00:11:35] at too?
[00:11:35] Yeah.
[00:11:36] And this is the one where, uh, they, uh, are looking to put a roundabout in.
[00:11:40] So.
[00:11:41] No way.
[00:11:42] That won't even be a problem anymore.
[00:11:44] Yeah.
[00:11:44] They're looking.
[00:11:45] There's no way.
[00:11:46] There's no way that'll fit there.
[00:11:47] Cause after that, you guys mentioned this before I drove down there just, I don't know,
[00:11:52] going somewhere and I looked and there's just no way that fits.
[00:11:55] They said with creative engineering, it'll fit without having to get rid of any house.
[00:12:00] I don't know what that means, but they said it over top of the condos that are in the corner
[00:12:04] or the closer homes.
[00:12:05] What are they going to do?
[00:12:05] I don't know.
[00:12:06] Oh my goodness.
[00:12:08] Anyway, what do you got?
[00:12:09] You went to this, didn't you?
[00:12:10] The park master plan, uh, engagement session.
[00:12:13] Yep.
[00:12:14] They, um, tell us about it.
[00:12:15] They finally came up with a rough draft of, uh, all the feedback that, uh, the community
[00:12:20] provided to them through either the survey online or the first in-person meeting.
[00:12:25] And, uh, the results are in the community is concerned about walkability, um, upkeep
[00:12:31] of parks and amenities at the rec center and, um, you know, water features, swimming or,
[00:12:38] or splash pads or stuff like that.
[00:12:40] So they, uh, are going to finalize those plans and get them presented to a city council
[00:12:45] and, uh, see where we go for there.
[00:12:48] Obviously we have to work within our means of the budget.
[00:12:50] So, you know, if we want some extra amenities, we have to find ways to get more money.
[00:12:56] Yeah.
[00:12:56] That'll be interesting to see what they come up with.
[00:12:58] So maybe with some creativity and we'll see what goes on over there.
[00:13:03] Yeah.
[00:13:04] And then, uh, North park, there's an update on North park.
[00:13:07] It's looking that one picture, it's looking gorgeous.
[00:13:09] Um, but they're still working on it and park is scheduled to reopen in January.
[00:13:16] Mm-hmm.
[00:13:16] They have 60 days complete the dredging as of October 26th.
[00:13:21] That looks like.
[00:13:22] Yeah.
[00:13:23] What they dig out will be dumped on a site at North Carpenter, it says just north of
[00:13:27] Grafton.
[00:13:27] So you're not getting your sled riding hill.
[00:13:29] I'm sorry.
[00:13:30] No, that's okay.
[00:13:30] I think we knew that already.
[00:13:32] Yeah.
[00:13:32] But it says they're going to go four feet deep or deeper throughout the lake.
[00:13:37] So they're going to take all that out and, uh, truck it over to, uh, North Carpenter
[00:13:42] and Grafton right next to where the mannequins live.
[00:13:45] Right next to the mannequins.
[00:13:46] Got it.
[00:13:47] Yeah.
[00:13:48] So this one we posted earlier this week, uh, this is our Brunswick fall foliage picture
[00:13:54] contest.
[00:13:55] So there's some great shots right about now.
[00:13:58] Get out there, post your picture.
[00:14:00] Um, the picture with the most likes by 3 PM on November 1st will win a prize package
[00:14:06] compliments of Brunswick group therapy.
[00:14:09] So, um, make sure you find that post and submit it so you can win, uh, some goodies,
[00:14:15] right?
[00:14:15] Yeah.
[00:14:16] This is the week I, uh, my daughter went out for, uh, senior photos earlier this week
[00:14:21] and, uh, the leaves and the trees and all that was absolutely beautiful.
[00:14:26] We haven't got them back yet, but, um, you know, we had, uh, Zebulon Thomas from ZT Films
[00:14:32] take some photos for us and I can't wait to see how they turn out because the weather
[00:14:37] is gorgeous.
[00:14:37] It's pretty intense right now.
[00:14:38] So get out there and, uh, show us what you got.
[00:14:42] Let's take a break and come back and, uh, talk about things to do in the two on two.
[00:14:45] All right.
[00:14:47] Oh, is that loud?
[00:14:49] Was it fireworks or gunshots?
[00:14:51] Ugh.
[00:14:52] Is anybody else's breeze lying down again?
[00:14:55] Monday was a holiday.
[00:14:57] When's my trash day?
[00:14:58] To the guy who pulled out of the middle school at 320 today in the Toyota Tacoma, you're
[00:15:03] a turd.
[00:15:04] Did you see that blue car?
[00:15:06] Oh my gosh.
[00:15:08] Has anybody noticed that helicopter flying around all day in the same spot?
[00:15:12] What's he doing up there?
[00:15:14] Wow.
[00:15:14] That could be a lot to take in each week, but don't worry.
[00:15:17] Help is here.

[00:16:10] There's rides ranging from $2 to $5.
[00:16:13] $1 for cones.
[00:16:15] It's a very low-cost evening.
[00:16:19] Take the kids up there.
[00:16:20] Yep.
[00:16:20] And remember, they are cash only.
[00:16:22] So head over to that Huntington Broken ATM and fill that wallet up.
[00:16:29] Nice.
[00:16:32] What else?
[00:16:33] Also Friday night, we have Jim Gill Singalong of Celebrated Songs.
[00:16:38] That's over at the library.
[00:16:40] That happens at 6 p.m.
[00:16:43] You can sing, clap, dance and spin along with award-winning musician and author Jim Gill.
[00:16:48] His distinctive music play creates the spirit of family in a concert hall.
[00:16:52] Well, that sounds like fun.
[00:16:54] Yeah.
[00:16:54] If it's free, it's for me.
[00:16:55] Right.
[00:16:56] All right.
[00:16:57] What do we got here?
[00:16:58] A Halloween party.
[00:16:59] Mm-hmm.
[00:17:00] I'm sure we've got probably a few of them, right?
[00:17:03] Yeah.
[00:17:04] This is an event by Equine Essentials over on Center Road over by Tupac, Mexican restaurant.
[00:17:13] Go ahead.
[00:17:14] Say it.
[00:17:15] What's the name of it?
[00:17:17] Talacapake.
[00:17:18] There you go.
[00:17:19] There you go.
[00:17:20] Anyway, this Saturday from 11 to 5, stop in.
[00:17:23] You don't have to have a horse to stop in there.
[00:17:26] You don't have to be a rider.
[00:17:27] Just stop in, check them out, say hi.
[00:17:30] 11 to 5 this Saturday, the Halloween party at Equine Essentials.
[00:17:34] Right.
[00:17:34] And I reached out to them to see if they would have a real horse in the parking lot because
[00:17:39] I wasn't sure, you know, I'm not an equestrian.
[00:17:42] Right.
[00:17:42] This is not Bruns Tucky.
[00:17:44] This is Brunswicky.
[00:17:47] So I wasn't sure.
[00:17:48] They have an Equicizer.
[00:17:52] So it looks like a mechanical bull, like we all know, but it's actually a mechanical
[00:17:57] horse.
[00:17:58] Stop it.
[00:17:59] That does galloping and trotting and stuff like that.
[00:18:03] So you climb up on that thing to check your stability and that's compliments of Horse
[00:18:08] Haven Ohio right here on 303 in Hinkley.
[00:18:12] It's like seven minutes down the road.
[00:18:14] That is so cool.
[00:18:15] So they got that going on.
[00:18:17] They got snacks, beverages and deals.
[00:18:19] So yeah.
[00:18:20] If you ever thought about horseback riding, I would stop in there that day.
[00:18:23] Well, let's just let the record reflect that I will not be climbing up on that thing.
[00:18:27] So if you do, I would like to see video, but yeah, the horse is safe from my butt.
[00:18:34] So, oh my goodness.
[00:18:36] There's so many parties going on this weekend.
[00:18:38] It's spooky days over at Mapleside Farm.

[00:18:49] So pumpkin village is going to turn into a little bit kid friendly, spooky stuff looks like.
[00:18:55] And let's see, Friday 4 to 9, Saturday 11 to 9, and Sunday 11 to 6.
[00:19:01] The theme festivals aren't Saturday and Sunday only though.
[00:19:04] So the spooky days, Saturday and Sunday this weekend at Mapleside.
[00:19:08] You're running out of weekends.
[00:19:11] Oh my gosh, I'm reading this.
[00:19:12] There's pig races.
[00:19:14] Oh yeah?
[00:19:15] Yeah.
[00:19:16] There's going to be pig races.
[00:19:17] All right.
[00:19:18] So anyway, go check everything out over there.
[00:19:21] That's a fun weekend.
[00:19:23] And don't forget the bakery over there.
[00:19:25] Yeah.
[00:19:25] Easy in and out if you just want to head over to the bakery.
[00:19:28] So.

[00:20:22] That's on Ridge Road.

[00:20:34] So you'll listen to it right there on your...
[00:20:36] It's like you're at a drive-thru, but you're not.
[00:20:38] You're at a...
[00:20:38] Drive-in.

[00:20:42] Maybe we should try that for Christmas or something.
[00:20:44] Yeah, I wonder what technology we would need for that.
[00:20:47] I mean, I have a projector, but...
[00:20:49] You're our technological guy.
[00:20:51] I have a projector, but it wouldn't be bright enough to pull it all the way back for a whole
[00:20:55] parking lot.
[00:20:56] I don't know.
[00:20:57] Ah, cool.
