[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:00:10] Episode 69, Happy Friday the 13th.
[00:00:14] Mmm, ooh spooky Friday the 13th.
[00:00:19] Speaking of spooky.
[00:00:21] Yeah, check out this Zoning Officer for the City of the Township of Hinkley.
[00:00:37] It's okay, man. Don't break the property.
[00:00:42] So you're yakin' it down.
[00:00:54] Well, that was an interesting piece.
[00:00:57] Yeah, yeah. So they've looked through their laws and I guess they have a couple days to correct the science situation.
[00:01:03] So I'm not sure what's going to happen to her.
[00:01:06] I'm not sure what happened before that video started that put her in such a mood but
[00:01:11] Very clearly saw part of it so hopefully.
[00:01:15] Alright, well, speaking of Zoning.
[00:01:17] Moving right on, yeah.
[00:01:20] Exactly.
[00:01:21] I've had my share of Zoning stuff from lately.
[00:01:26] Oh my gosh.
[00:01:28] But Sam, the man has put up a self-server thing over at his new piece of property,
[00:01:35] over by pro-Lingraption and back at the Red Onion.
[00:01:37] If you're in need of that it's like five bucks a bundle.
[00:01:40] I think that's what it says here.
[00:01:42] And then there have a bigger bundle for seven so.
[00:01:45] Even that $5 bundle looks like a good size.
[00:01:47] So what else we got?
[00:01:49] We got Mars cards.
[00:01:50] They moved from their little location next to the middle school over to next to Kelly's
[00:01:55] Crepes with Old World Delhi and the Empanata Place which also opened yesterday.
[00:02:00] Getting as gracious.
[00:02:01] There's a lot going on there.
[00:02:02] Yeah, I'm trying to get into that place.
[00:02:05] But we stopped by an interview and we got, we let you work the camera.
[00:02:08] How do they do?
[00:02:08] I worked in my car.
[00:02:09] It wasn't terrible.
[00:02:10] It wasn't terrible for a first time.
[00:02:12] You know?
[00:02:13] Let's see.
[00:02:14] Yeah, you did okay too in front of the camera.
[00:02:15] I saw you know.
[00:02:17] Let's take a look at that video.
[00:02:39] Alright, everybody.
[00:02:40] We are over here at Mars Card.
[00:02:42] New location over in the Drug Mar Plas Pro Road.
[00:02:46] Just south of the old location right by the Brunswick Middle School.
[00:02:50] Going from a very small starter shop in a short amount of time, expanding to quite a large space.
[00:02:59] Probably one of the largest card shops I've been in just wanted to introduce you to the location
[00:03:05] and the owner and show you what's going on over here.
[00:03:08] They're still constructing obviously.
[00:03:10] But we're recording on Monday and by the time you see this, they'll be open.
[00:03:18] Let's get to know the owner a little bit.
[00:03:20] Look at this.
[00:03:21] Just going on.
[00:03:21] Hey, how are you doing?
[00:03:22] I'm going to let you go.
[00:03:22] Why not?
[00:03:24] I'll take it.
[00:03:25] It's going on, everybody.
[00:03:29] So tell us a little about the shop.
[00:03:30] You moved here so quickly from such a small location.
[00:03:35] Very excited.
[00:03:36] Yeah.
[00:03:36] It's really exciting.
[00:03:38] Year ago, last two weeks ago was our first year anniversary at Mars Card Shop right across the middle school.
[00:03:45] The growth was just incredible.
[00:03:47] We knew that we had something really special, you know, early on but, you know, the rapid growth that we'd gone to.
[00:03:52] Not only brunch week with the surrounding communities been incredible and now it's time for us to kind of take it to the next level.
[00:03:58] We always said we can grow right?
[00:03:59] We always said we can grow something big so we don't want to go into something crazy right off the bat and but now we're into something crazy.
[00:04:06] So they're excited about it.
[00:04:07] Yeah.
[00:04:08] I love the color.
[00:04:09] I want to show us a little bit of a round life.
[00:04:10] Just a bit of an area.
[00:04:11] Yeah, for sure.
[00:04:13] Yeah, so we took a little bit of the old shop with us all the way around.
[00:04:18] So we've had this is our license wall back at the old shop.
[00:04:21] We had a big license wall and we actually just went ahead and bordered it all the way around.
[00:04:26] Bring a little nostalgia with us.
[00:04:27] This was our outside sign at the old shop that you guys are looking at right now.
[00:04:32] And also a piece of it if you turn around there at our main wall is also that car shop part was outside as well.
[00:04:39] So brown and orange, you know we're huge Cleveland browns fans big Cleveland fans period.
[00:04:45] So the color orange really stands out here at the shop.
[00:04:49] It's something we've had in our logo for the last eight years and now we're making a prominent part of our new shop.
[00:04:58] And I used to rip open packs as a kid.
[00:05:01] We didn't have a car shop close enough that I could ride my bicycle too.
[00:05:04] But we would go up to I think it was drug mart at the time not this one.
[00:05:09] We went on Boston and Boston and 130th.
[00:05:13] Then we go over my buddy's Charlie house and we sit on the front porch and we rip open the cards and then we get our cards out and we trade them.
[00:05:20] Tell us a little bit that it's not just a shop you come in and you buy cards and you go home.
[00:05:24] I see it on the internet all the time of what do you do on and how excited these kids are.
[00:05:28] Tell us a little bit about, we'll kind of space you have for that.
[00:05:31] See some really great seating over here and some other stuff.
[00:05:35] Yeah, so our main objective always is being we don't want to just be like a POS stop where you just you know point of sale.
[00:05:40] You just come in you buy and leave you know we're creating an environment where the memories are made not just in our shop for us,
[00:05:47] but the fathers and the sons and moms and the sons and moms and the daughters who come in they open packs that are at our huge table.
[00:05:54] And you know we try to make sure we record it and have memories for them and we posted all over our social media and it's something that you know.
[00:06:01] On our last day on Sunday we had multiple people coming in and just wanted to take a picture at the shop.
[00:06:06] All the memories they had at the first shop with their kids and what we're going to bring here.
[00:06:10] We have a really cool lounge area in the new shop where you know,
[00:06:13] mom or dad that is bringing them to the shop can hang out there or they're web some magazines TV on.
[00:06:18] The kids can go throughout the shop.
[00:06:19] We'll have tables throughout the shop three to two to three maybe four tables inside the shop at all times.
[00:06:24] We have a large single selection everybody likes coming in and going through and looking for their favorite player favorite team so we have that.
[00:06:31] We also have fun boxes that they can open have big packs on the wall but they can sit down and enjoy you know a few minutes in the shop or however long they want.
[00:06:40] And it looks like you buy singles and offer those so you have those and needs to display cases.
[00:06:48] Yeah throughout the shop.
[00:06:50] Show cases you'll see showcases are mainly like your larger dollar amount cards these wall cases really fun stuff anywhere from 10 to 20 30 bucks in there.
[00:06:59] And then dollar boxes over here dollar three four dollar cards you can go through.
[00:07:03] So we have a price point for everybody it's not you know a crazy expensive you know venture into the shop you come in one two three dollars.
[00:07:10] Leave it great you know a great card.
[00:07:13] I still have a pretty good size.
[00:07:16] Like the collection yeah I should bring them up for a second up how much for my lines of morning.
[00:07:20] Yeah right.
[00:07:24] You know they kind of see what we're doing we have a lot of fun on our social media we want to make it exciting for people come in want to make it memorable when they come in.
[00:07:31] So we've got some cool things to you know in in store for the new shop.
[00:07:35] Saturdays going to be our big grand opening we're going to have a hobby with night tops sponsored by tops coming to the shop from one to four we're just kind of prices giveaways free packs pizza drinks and then.
[00:07:47] Kind of back by popular man over trade night from four to eight where collectors can come in meet other correct collectors trade with them buy from them trading with us by with us and just have a good time we've.
[00:07:58] We did one right for the National Carcimature came huge success so we're going to do next one this Saturday.
[00:08:03] Well once again congratulations on your expansion I hope bronze looking to some surrounding communities come check you out this Saturday and for years to come.
[00:08:12] Yeah we just want to take the community they've been awesome.
[00:08:15] They really come out and show a lot of support for us and you know we just want to keep making sure we get back all the time and it's not just us in here it's.
[00:08:22] Kelly's Cafe new empenadas is about to open up.
[00:08:25] Oh world deli obviously drug mart and then get some sweet neighbors next sort of character's really nice over there so.
[00:08:30] They welcomed us with open arms they keep their head in there all the time and can't wait for us come so.
[00:08:35] You know being so close you might have to start a workout.
[00:08:37] Reggie is.
[00:08:38] I think I can't stop coming up because it's easy 20's coming like easy 20 pounds is coming with all the good stuff around here stuff.
[00:08:43] Step counts are going to happen go up and you know we'll we'll make sure we support them just like your report.
[00:08:48] Rest wishes take care thank you.
[00:09:11] That is some stellar camera work right there.
[00:09:15] Congratulations to Mario and the Mars card team for their expansion and hope all those kids in adults alike check it out.
[00:09:23] I can't believe how much bigger it is than the other place that's crazy.
[00:09:26] Yeah yeah so congratulations and many more successful years here in bronze work.
[00:09:34] So there was some talk about a hidden gem that's right over the border I think the official address is hinkly.
[00:09:41] It's called hillside orchard it's a little crazy.
[00:09:44] Technically but my goodness this post got almost 40,000 views and 76 shares and over a thousand likes and loves.
[00:09:54] Yeah I know the Facebook algorithm on that like must have broken but I'm glad they're supporting local I'm sure that business saw some huge increase just for meeting those quote damn grapes.
[00:10:08] They do look they do look delicious so might have to swing by there.
[00:10:14] Let's see what else we got.
[00:10:16] We got bloom bakeries speaking of eating yeah pray.
[00:10:21] You and I were guests of great climate invited us to friends and family night over for the grand opening that happened this week so we were over there you know earlier.
[00:10:33] The bloom bakery and cafe and has just an amazing display of breads and desserts and they're going to have coffee and they'll be a little cafe area.
[00:10:47] And you'll be able to pass through and go into the apple farm area you know like the apple you know where they saw all the different kinds of apples and stuff and then we also asked him about the wishing well in the corner.
[00:10:59] It is still there and great his dad actually before they even bought maple side replaced the wheel mechanism on that so that was kind of fun.
[00:11:10] And to know that it's still going to be there probably over 50 years I'm going to have to guess it's been there.
[00:11:16] Yeah yeah but back to that bread man I got to try the.
[00:11:23] I got to try the bread in beer.
[00:11:27] The sun dried tomato bread and then I took home a loaf of sour dough my wife made brushe to with it man it was awesome.
[00:11:37] It was awesome bread I ate two pieces of it just plain.
[00:11:41] I love bread yeah it was it was really good I put some my ear has a garlic spread and so I put garlic spread and put it in the air fryer.
[00:11:52] Oh, it was so good yeah so so good but they're also going to have breakfast sandwiches and cupcakes and other desserts and I think I said that they're open seven to six weekdays Wednesday Thursday.
[00:12:05] Seven to nine week ends and then close Monday.
[00:12:09] Yeah that's some great hours too.
[00:12:11] Yeah yeah.
[00:12:11] You know really like really like that that they're open so early and a little bit later too so.
[00:12:17] Um speaking of brushe go ahead.
[00:12:19] All right.
[00:12:20] There we go.
[00:12:22] Getting in on the action I know we mentioned a few browns day specials.
[00:12:26] The night how now has a game day special as well four dollars for all 12 ounce pours.
[00:12:32] 24 99 for three shareables for the table and 14 99 for any flat bed hot dog and chips or chicken tender basket and a 12 out of beer on football Sundays.
[00:12:44] Our second blessing box is opening this one will be at Brunswick United Methodist Church at the corner of 303 and Pearl in they have decided to do things a little bit different.
[00:12:56] I think it's a very very smart way which I think is very very smart.
[00:13:00] Yeah I like it too.
[00:13:02] So they are going to be stacking only toiletry items because there's so many there are quite a few food pantries in the area and then we're going to have other blessing boxes and so they'll have food and them too.
[00:13:12] But they at Brunswick United Methodist Church again are only going to have the toiletry items so household products, diapers, toilet paper, etc.
[00:13:25] And so these items will be available to residents that can't get to the food pantry and they found they have a food pantry there.
[00:13:33] So they found that there's a need for their food pantry clients for this kind of stuff so items can be dropped off during office hours, Monday through Thursday from 94 Friday's 9 to 12.
[00:13:45] So they have a lot of things to do with the food pantry and they're also looking for donations as they finish up getting this supply is enough to build that box.
[00:13:53] So please drop off or mail to the church office.
[00:13:57] Very nice, very nice.
[00:13:58] Yeah we got a couple more coming but that's number two.
[00:14:02] Yep.

[00:15:54] And empanadas Latin street food runs Wek welcome.
[00:15:58] And what I like most about them is each empanadas sold individually so for three four I think five dollars it's been well since I've been there.
[00:16:06] You can just try all kinds of different ones.
[00:16:08] Oh, we're putting some reserve ones yeah yeah.
[00:16:12] Very nice.

[00:17:40] Yeah, people love it. Again that's tomorrow from 10 to three at fair trade on Pearl.

[00:20:22] The real house wise of Beverly Hills trivia. I would not do well at that but that is also at the Tangled Vine.
[00:20:29] It should be about 2 hours long and you would want to call ahead to reserve a table or comment on the event post.
[00:20:36] But that is Wednesday, September 18 from 6 to 8 PM.
[00:20:40] Do you watch?
[00:20:40] I wouldn't even pretend to know the first thing about that one.
[00:20:43] But there's people out there.

[00:21:55] Just mention the fundraiser and percentage of your sale will be donated back to Hickory Ridge, parent-teacher group.
[00:22:01] And make sure you stop by there at some point and get the exhausted parent.
[00:22:05] What's that?
[00:22:05] Ice cream. Ice cream.
[00:22:07] It is bourbon infused coffee ice cream with chocolate chunks in it.
[00:22:11] Oh, good idea. That's all you need.
[00:22:13] That's all you need.
[00:22:14] Yeah.
[00:22:15] That's my calendar.
[00:22:17] Yes, definitely.
[00:22:20] Saturday, September 21st, Brunswick, VFW, coming up, coming to Hattest with all the events aren't they?
