[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.

[00:00:09] Episode number 68.

[00:00:13] Already?

[00:00:14] Time flies.

[00:00:15] Sure does.

[00:00:16] Speaking of time flies, what happened in summer?

[00:00:20] I know the leaves are starting to fall, but that only means one thing.

[00:00:27] Donutland has returned to 24-7 and last Monday was the last Monday for a long time that I'll

[00:00:34] yank on that door and it won't be there.

[00:00:37] They got me one last time.

[00:00:40] Oh my gosh.

[00:00:42] And flavor of the week, berry cream.

[00:00:46] That sounds good.

[00:00:48] So we have a huge birthday in the house.

[00:00:51] Happy 105th to Miss Rose.

[00:00:55] Rose Cosar turned 105.

[00:00:59] Her daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Ken were among many people that just recently celebrated with her.

[00:01:04] It's said that she still crochets and gets her hair done every week.

[00:01:08] So living her best life still at 105.

[00:01:11] Happy birthday, Rose.

[00:01:12] YOLO.

[00:01:13] Yep.

[00:01:14] Very cool.

[00:01:14] Very cool.

[00:01:15] Well, so happy birthday, Miss Rose.

[00:01:17] Brunswick High School football kicked off last weekend and they have a new mascot.

[00:01:24] We do?

[00:01:25] It's still the Blue Devil but now it's Bluey, a blow-up Blue Devil.

[00:01:30] No.

[00:01:31] Which I thought was really cool.

[00:01:32] I thought they were swaying away from the Blue Devil but it's nice to see it out there.

[00:01:38] I'm glad they kept it.

[00:01:40] So make sure you check out a game sometime this year.

[00:01:43] Absolutely.

[00:01:44] Welcome, Bluey.

[00:01:45] Joyce posted the September distribution for local food banks.

[00:01:50] Looks like there's one coming up at Grace Baptist Church on September 12th.

[00:01:54] There's one on the Dine on the 11th, one in Lafayette Road on the 14th and on the 26th.

[00:01:59] So if you're in need of food, you have those resources and then we have the blessing box,

[00:02:05] the food box over at the Brunswick Hills Police Department.

[00:02:08] Yeah.

[00:02:08] He took the words right out my mouth.

[00:02:09] I was going to remind everybody that was over there.

[00:02:11] It was pretty well stocked and ready to go if you need assistance.

[00:02:15] Stop in there.

[00:02:16] And speaking of stopping in, I didn't get all the way in the door but I peeked

[00:02:20] and then they put a banner up stating their name is coming.

[00:02:24] So you tried to teach us all how to say the name of the New Mexican restaurant

[00:02:29] that's taking over the El Taco local place.

[00:02:31] Right?

[00:02:32] Somebody sent us a link to how to say it.

[00:02:34] We want to listen to it and practice together.

[00:02:36] Let's try it.

[00:02:37] Yeah, let's.

[00:02:37] Right.

[00:02:38] Talaque Paqui.

[00:02:40] Talaque Paqui.

[00:02:42] Talaque Paqui.

[00:02:43] Talaque Paqui.

[00:02:45] It's not hard.

[00:02:46] Go for it.

[00:02:47] Talaque Paqui.

[00:02:48] Yeah, I'm going with Tupac.

[00:02:50] Tupacs.

[00:02:51] Head over to Tupacs for some tacos?

[00:02:54] Tupacs.

[00:02:54] I'm going over to Tupacs for yeah.

[00:02:56] Yeah.

[00:02:57] I like that too.

[00:02:58] I don't know.

[00:02:59] They might be able to teach me but you know what they say about teaching

[00:03:02] all dogs new tricks.

[00:03:04] We know that.

[00:03:04] We'll figure it out and if the food's half as good, you know, it's exciting.

[00:03:07] Right.

[00:03:08] Good stuff.

[00:03:09] New places to eat are always exciting in my brain.

[00:03:12] We had some disagreements in the group this week.

[00:03:15] We had Rick.

[00:03:16] No, wait a minute.

[00:03:18] Not our group.

[00:03:20] Disagreements?

[00:03:20] You're kidding me.

[00:03:21] This one was, this one went the wrong way.

[00:03:24] I don't know.

[00:03:24] I disagreed with a lot of these people.

[00:03:27] Rick asked what our citizens of Brunswick called.

[00:03:31] I threw out there that they were Brunswickians and I think

[00:03:35] the majority of the people said Bruns-Tuckian.

[00:03:38] Yeah, Bruns-Tuckian I think was pretty big.

[00:03:41] Yeah, but I think Bruns-Wikian is a little more demure.

[00:03:44] Bruns, yeah that was up there too.

[00:03:46] So you know it's what can we say?

[00:03:49] The slow week for the page.

[00:03:51] It was.

[00:03:52] It really was.

[00:03:54] But we do have a ton of events coming up so make sure you grab your calendar

[00:03:58] before we get there.

[00:03:59] The other big thing though that was discussed this week was

[00:04:02] what do you think?

[00:04:03] Brunswick to Spensary, Yay or Nay.

[00:04:05] Right.

[00:04:06] And the Yays had it 77%.

[00:04:10] It's now 79%.

[00:04:12] Actually a little bit whole.

[00:04:13] Look actually it was probably a little bit higher than that.

[00:04:15] Yeah, it's actually up to 79% now with 520 votes.

[00:04:20] Somebody added a vote here.

[00:04:23] Aiden just wants pizza.

[00:04:27] He doesn't care whether it's there or not.

[00:04:29] He just wants more pizza I guess.

[00:04:31] Don't you usually want pizza though after you've been to the dispensary

[00:04:34] and partake?

[00:04:35] I don't know.

[00:04:36] I mean, you know, that's what I heard.

[00:05:15] All right, let's hit it off.

[00:05:20] Let's do things to do in the two on two.

[00:05:22] Oh, and there's a lot.

[00:05:23] Thank goodness because like you said,

[00:05:25] it was a quiet week in the group.

[00:05:26] Let's start with tonight.

[00:05:28] What are we going on today?

[00:05:29] Joey Amato is over at the backyard tonight and Mark Alou

[00:05:33] and Tommy are here.

[00:05:33] I'm a lot of motto are the three gentlemen.

[00:05:36] They started at eight o'clock tonight and go till 11.

[00:05:39] Again, that's at the backyard.

[00:05:41] And that's it.

[00:05:41] That's all we have for Friday.

[00:05:42] Let's take a look at, yeah, Friday is a slow day,

[00:05:45] but we got plenty to do on Saturday.

[00:05:46] Starting with community shred day 9am till noon.

[00:05:49] That's at Brunswick City Hall.

[00:05:51] A limit of four boxes per person.

[00:05:53] And the drop off line closes at noon.

[00:05:56] So you have to be in line by noon

[00:05:57] or you won't get your stuff shredded.

[00:05:59] Yeah.

[00:05:59] And then you can swing by and get a car wash.

[00:06:01] That's right.

[00:06:01] The Brunswick High School Choir is 11am to 2pm at Wendy's

[00:06:06] over on 303.

[00:06:07] Stop and get your car wash, support the high school choir

[00:06:09] and it looks like it's probably by donations.

[00:06:12] So be kind, be generous, be giving, stop by and see them.

[00:06:15] 11 to 2 tomorrow.

[00:06:16] And then the Brunswick VFW is having a craft show.

[00:06:19] And that is from 9am till 2.

[00:06:22] So you can check that out and...

[00:06:24] If you can't find something to do this weekend,

[00:06:26] you're not looking or you're not listening.

[00:06:28] One of the two.

[00:06:29] That's true.

[00:06:31] Here's one that looks like a lot of fun.

[00:06:33] Grace and Gratitude Yoga is celebrating one year

[00:06:35] and they're doing it at the Tangled Vine with Mamosas.

[00:06:40] Tomorrow morning, 9am,

[00:06:42] gather your friends and head on over there

[00:06:44] for the one-year anniversary.

[00:06:45] $25 per person includes yoga, Mamosa flight

[00:06:49] or non-alcoholic beverages.

[00:06:52] And the experience.

[00:06:54] It looks like a good time actually.

[00:06:55] Yeah.

[00:06:56] Congratulations to them on one year.

[00:06:58] Yeah. Way to go, you guys.

[00:07:00] Speaking of Tangled Vine, we have Isle and Troy.

[00:07:02] It's going to be there tomorrow night from 6am to 9am.

[00:07:06] So after you've decompressed in the morning with your yoga,

[00:07:09] you can come back and party it up with Isle and Troy.

[00:07:13] 6am, Tangled Vine, the 7th, which is tomorrow.

[00:07:16] Yep. Also 6am to 9am on the 7th is Furious George Hartwig.

[00:07:21] Modern music from rock, rap, metal, country blues and more.

[00:07:25] He takes all requests

[00:07:26] and Hutch's Notorious PIG barbecue truck

[00:07:29] will be at Hoppy Dudes from 4-8 that day.

[00:07:32] What is the name of that truck?

[00:07:34] Notorious PIG.

[00:07:35] Oh my gosh, I love that.

[00:07:37] It's just great.

[00:07:39] Yeah.

[00:07:40] Oh my goodness.

[00:07:41] All right, Saturday, the agenda is playing at Manzo's.

[00:07:45] If you would like to hear them, check them out.

[00:07:47] 8.30 tomorrow night at Manzo's.

[00:07:50] It says it's also birthday fun.

[00:07:51] I don't know who's birthday.

[00:07:52] I know, because I was reading that and then I was staggering.

[00:07:57] That's what I was stuttering.

[00:07:58] I was like, what does that mean?

[00:08:01] I guess we'll find out, huh?

[00:08:03] Yep.

[00:08:04] And that wraps up Saturday Sunday.

[00:08:07] Last week we talked about picking grapes

[00:08:09] and I think the one in this one is just as unique and exciting.

[00:08:12] Butterfly Tagging and Release, the Brunswick Area Historical Society

[00:08:16] at Heritage Farm will be releasing monarch butterflies

[00:08:19] as they migrate to Mexico.

[00:08:22] So obviously Sunday at the farm will still be there

[00:08:25] with all the vendors and things to buy.

[00:08:29] And then they're going to have music by Ken Urim from 11 to 1.

[00:08:32] They'll have food, drink, refreshments including hot dogs

[00:08:35] available for purchase and drawings and raffles as usual.

[00:08:39] But the butterflies get released around noon,

[00:08:42] so don't be late for that.

[00:08:44] That's something really different.

[00:08:45] Yeah.

[00:08:46] I wonder how many butterflies are there.

[00:08:48] They release 10, 50, 100, 1,000.

[00:08:53] Sounds like a contest in the making right there.

[00:08:56] Tell us how many and you could win.

[00:08:58] Dog days.

[00:09:00] Well, I guess we're done with the dog days of summer,

[00:09:02] but Hot Shots is bringing it back for at least the next couple of Sundays

[00:09:07] because it is football season.

[00:09:09] So here we go with the Dogtown Football Bash at Hot Shots.

[00:09:12] Every Sunday it looks like.

[00:09:15] Come check it out during game time.

[00:09:16] They've got specials going on.

[00:09:18] Looks like Sundays from 12 to 4.

[00:09:20] Bud Light buckets, 13 bucks, pictures.

[00:09:24] Bud Light pictures for eight.

[00:09:26] Brown's themed shots for six and themed cocktails for eight

[00:09:31] are just some of the many drink specials

[00:09:33] and then there's also food specials going on.

[00:09:35] So check them out every Sunday during Brown season.

[00:09:40] Yeah, and I thought this was unique.

[00:09:41] They have overtime wings, which means if the game goes into overtime,

[00:09:44] wings are just a dollar until the game ends.

[00:09:47] Wait, what?

[00:09:48] Yeah, that's what it says.

[00:09:49] That's pretty cool.

[00:09:51] Right, and if that's not your thing,

[00:09:54] Havana's Choice Cigars is also having a Brown's Home Opener 430 Start Time.

[00:10:00] They'll be open for the entire game

[00:10:01] and they have an offer of 25% off a single cigar

[00:10:08] each time the Browns score a touchdown.

[00:10:09] So if you're into cigars, that'd be a great way to watch the game

[00:10:13] and save and really sit around and enjoy cigars together.

[00:10:17] Wow, I don't know.

[00:10:18] I was going to give you my commentary for how the Browns are going to do,

[00:10:21] but I guess I don't think I will.

[00:10:24] I think I'll just wait.

[00:10:26] Moving right along.

[00:10:28] Exactly.

[00:10:29] Next.

[00:10:31] All right, and then further down the road,

[00:10:34] we have Medina County Triken bike that is next Friday at 6pm.

[00:10:38] You can still register at trikenbike.org to participate in that.

[00:10:44] It's a good fundraising and fitness and philanthropy event

[00:10:48] for children ages 3 to 12,

[00:10:50] and then like I said, more information can be found at trikenbike.org.

[00:10:54] Absolutely.

[00:10:55] Monday is September 9th at the Wooden Nickel is trivia

[00:11:00] and it's 80 sitcoms.

[00:11:02] And that's going to be at 645,

[00:11:03] so that's Monday at Wooden Nickel 80s sitcom trivia.

[00:11:08] Come and grab your team and come check it out.

[00:11:12] 645, some good food there too.

[00:11:14] And then getting ready for another clam bake.

[00:11:17] Manzo Sports and Spirits is having a clam bake on October 6th at 3pm.

[00:11:23] It's $42 per bake and $14 for an extra dozen.

[00:11:27] That includes a dozen middle neck clams, roasted half chicken,

[00:11:30] steamed sweet potato or basket potato,

[00:11:33] corn on the cob, homemade coleslaw and dinner rolls.

[00:11:36] That's a lot.

[00:11:37] Sure is.

[00:11:37] That's a solid bake right there.

[00:11:39] Yeah, I heard clam bakes are popular around here more than anywhere else in the United States.

[00:11:44] Yeah, it's a Northeast Ohio thing for some reason.

[00:11:48] So take advantage of it while you can, right?

[00:11:50] Yeah.

[00:11:50] All right, then we've got Mableside Farm has released their fall festival lineup.

[00:11:56] They're going to kick it off September 14th and 15th with Princesses and Pirates

[00:12:01] followed by hometown heroes the next weekend.

[00:12:05] And then Johnny Appleside, the end of September.

[00:12:09] And then of course they go into October.

[00:12:11] We'll get to that eventually.

[00:12:13] But for right now let's start with Princesses and Pirates September 14th.

[00:12:17] And then here's an event their third annual soup cookoff fundraiser.

[00:12:21] An evening of families helping families for Oaks Family Care Center.

[00:12:26] They do this at Comfort Suites in Brunswick.

[00:12:29] It's at 5.30 p.m. on October 12th and you can enter a soup.

[00:12:33] It includes one free admission, five tastings and one vote.

[00:12:37] You prize this for first, second and third place.

[00:12:40] Or if you just want to eat some soup, tickets are $15.

[00:12:44] It includes admission, five tastings and one vote.

[00:12:47] In addition to that, there's going to be a lot of other good stuff going on.

[00:12:51] Yeah I think we're going to have to...

[00:12:53] I think it came up really fast last year or something.

[00:12:57] Something was going on and we couldn't get it together.

[00:12:59] But either enter a soup maybe?

[00:13:02] I think your wife said she would.

[00:13:04] The baked potato soup, yeah.

[00:13:06] Yes or the cheeseburger soup or something.

[00:13:08] There was something different.

[00:13:11] Maybe it was baked potato soup.

[00:13:12] But we'll definitely at least have to go and eat that night.

[00:13:16] Definitely.

[00:13:17] And we saved the bus for last.

[00:13:19] So this without a doubt is something that I think you would be amazing at.

[00:13:24] I think you should do it.

[00:13:25] Learn how to play the ukulele.

[00:13:27] So the Medina County Office for Older Adults,

[00:13:30] which you don't qualify for yet but I do,

[00:13:33] is having a Silver Strings Ukulele Group on Wednesday evenings at 6.30 p.m.

[00:13:38] They're looking for new members to join.

[00:13:40] Activity is open to actually anyone of any age and it is free.

[00:13:44] So bring along your ukulele and strum along with the strings.

[00:13:48] Members learn and teach each other all about ukuleles.

[00:13:51] Group meets in the dining room of the senior center in Medina,

[00:13:55] 246 Northland.

[00:13:56] You need more information call them.

[00:13:58] Call Jenny at 330-725-9177.

[00:14:05] That's it.

[00:14:06] That's all we got.

[00:14:07] Cool.

[00:14:08] You can't, nothing beats a ukulele so you can't do it.

[00:14:11] We can't, you know, we're done now.

[00:14:13] That's right.

[00:14:14] Great.

[00:14:16] Don't forget to like and subscribe and we appreciate you listening to us

[00:14:20] and we'll see you next week for episode number 69.

[00:14:24] Alright you guys, see you soon.

[00:14:26] Bye.

[00:14:31] Spectacular.

[00:14:31] Give me 14 of them right now.

[00:14:33] Really?

[00:14:33] Do you know what's in here?

[00:14:35] I don't care.
