[00:00:03] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.

[00:00:11] Episode number 67.

[00:00:13] Perfect.

[00:00:14] We interviewed Gamers Lair over there at Laurel Plaza just south of Laurel Square.

[00:00:19] There you go.

[00:00:20] You'll be listening to them a little bit later in the episode, but let's kick it off.

[00:00:24] Here we go.

[00:00:24] Can't do it.

[00:00:25] Yeah, let's start with this feel-good post.

[00:00:27] Somebody posted that they were standing in line, a giant eagle to pay, and somebody

[00:00:32] paid their $60 tab.

[00:00:34] They pulled out their wallet, all their change flew out.

[00:00:37] They're having a rough time with their health insurance, health food card, not scanning.

[00:00:43] But the person behind them saw that they were flustered in a need and stepped up and paid it for them.

[00:00:48] So that is so sweet.

[00:00:50] Very nice.

[00:00:50] Very nice.

[00:00:51] So let's talk about Brunswick City Schools.

[00:00:54] The auditor of the state presented the school district with Auditor of State Award

[00:00:59] for Outstanding Financial Reporting in 2023.

[00:01:02] So only 6% of all publicly audited organizations are selected for this award.

[00:01:08] Yeah, and they've received that a couple years in a row now.

[00:01:10] At least three or four that I can remember.

[00:01:13] So congratulations to them.

[00:01:15] And I reached out to a lot of people who were asking about the geolocation on the buses.

[00:01:21] The new app currently has it turned off.

[00:01:23] They said it would be turned off as soon as the buses started moving, they would be able to turn that on.

[00:01:27] I asked them what the timeline was for them to turn it on because obviously you want it by winter time so the kids aren't waiting outside.

[00:01:33] They said that kidder will be turned on next week and then they'll be experimenting and adjusting and they'll have a timeline for the rest of the district.

[00:01:40] Roll out the rest of them, huh?

[00:01:41] Yeah.

[00:01:42] All right.

[00:01:42] New stuff takes a while sometimes.

[00:01:45] Speaking of schools, Cloverleaf opened up their new building this year with combined middle school and high school.

[00:01:52] Look at these pictures.

[00:01:53] Wow.

[00:01:54] Pretty nice pictures.

[00:01:55] That's an impressive looking facility right there.

[00:01:58] Even more impressive is that the building was funded, the 69 and a half million was funded entirely from tax revenue generated from the Nexus Natural Gas Pipeline and the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.

[00:02:11] That's the same discount that we got on our school.

[00:02:14] It replaces the previous high school which opened in 1960 and the middle school opened in 1970.

[00:02:20] So those weren't super old buildings.

[00:02:22] And a lot of good looking stuff inside that building.

[00:02:26] Two main entrances, a giant auditorium, three gyms.

[00:02:30] I guess you need three gyms.

[00:02:31] Yeah, if you're going to combine schools.

[00:02:33] Yeah, right.

[00:02:34] How do you feel about that?

[00:02:35] How do you feel?

[00:02:36] I mean you've got one in junior high and one in high school, right?

[00:02:38] Yeah.

[00:02:38] How do you feel about having them all in the same school?

[00:02:41] Middle and the high school.

[00:02:42] Yeah.

[00:02:43] You're going through two different areas of your life.

[00:02:45] I guess if you only have one area of land to put it on that might be okay.

[00:02:49] There might be some cost savings and just overhead and stuff like that.

[00:02:54] Yeah, but I think it should be super.

[00:02:54] But I think it should be social impact.

[00:02:56] I don't think that's a good idea.

[00:02:58] But that's just me personally.

[00:02:59] They probably did it together because they did one grant and one funding.

[00:03:03] And if they did it separate, they may not be able to do it.

[00:03:06] I don't know.

[00:03:07] But I'm glad that we have a separate middle school and a separate high school.

[00:03:10] Yeah.

[00:03:11] But that's a nice looking facility there.

[00:03:12] So very nice.

[00:03:14] Oh look at this.

[00:03:16] You need a sign.

[00:03:17] Exciting.

[00:03:17] Sign sign.

[00:03:18] And then there were a sign.

[00:03:20] Empanadas Latin street food is coming to Brunswick and they're moving along swiftly.

[00:03:24] The sign went up last week.

[00:03:27] And we look forward to being in touch with them and going in and trying some, right?

[00:03:33] Yeah.

[00:03:33] They're delicious.

[00:03:34] And you know, they got savory, just like Kelly's crepes the next door.

[00:03:39] They have savory and sweet empanadas.

[00:03:44] So they have like apple filled empanadas and stuff like that.

[00:03:47] Yeah.

[00:03:48] It's like this town needs a good dessert place.

[00:03:51] And if I got to get it in the form of an empanada, then I can run by.

[00:03:55] So be it.

[00:03:55] I can.

[00:03:58] Another sign that went up is the new Mexican restaurant where El Taco loco was.

[00:04:05] I'm going to attempt to pronounce the name.

[00:04:07] Go ahead.

[00:04:07] Give it a try.

[00:04:09] No.

[00:04:11] Because like you said, it'll forever be El Taco loco because I don't, you know,

[00:04:16] look at the, I don't know.

[00:04:18] We can look at the letters, but I can't pronounce it at all.

[00:04:21] It's missing a vowel.

[00:04:22] Yeah.

[00:04:22] It's missing.

[00:04:23] Yeah.

[00:04:23] It's really strange, but I don't know what could have to give it like a nickname.

[00:04:30] Somebody suggested Hokey Pokey or something like that.

[00:04:33] Yeah.

[00:04:33] It's definitely going to need a nickname.

[00:04:35] So, but I did peek in the windows.

[00:04:37] I did stop and try to talk to somebody.

[00:04:41] But my Spanish is not very fluent.

[00:04:43] So I didn't get very far on that.

[00:04:46] But it's very exciting.

[00:04:48] They're coming along.

[00:04:49] They've made some major changes, major changes on the inside.

[00:04:53] So look forward to them opening back up and hopefully they have a cucumber margarita.

[00:04:58] That's all I care.

[00:04:59] And it looks like they have three other locations.

[00:05:01] So they probably know what they're doing.

[00:05:02] Nice.

[00:05:03] Which is why they're probably doing a full remodel.

[00:05:05] Even though I didn't think it needed a remodel.

[00:05:07] I think it looked pretty good in there as El Taco loco.

[00:05:09] No, but they totally guided it and definitely remodeled it.

[00:05:14] Speaking of remodels and making things better.

[00:05:16] Yeah.

[00:05:17] It's going on over in the township.

[00:05:18] I'm telling you, we got some dedicated people over there.

[00:05:22] Fred the sign guy is a lifelong resident of Brunswick Hills.

[00:05:25] And also owner of Auto Tram and Design.

[00:05:29] And so he went up to the police station and gave the sign a little refresher.

[00:05:33] Painted all those intricate details in that thing.

[00:05:36] That's impressive and awesome all at the same time.

[00:05:39] Right.

[00:05:39] Makes me a very patient person and steady hand.

[00:05:42] You ever see something like that and you're like, I can do that.

[00:05:45] And then you're like, never mind.

[00:05:46] No, I can't.

[00:05:47] No, I can't.

[00:05:47] So thank you, Fred the sign guy for doing that at the station.

[00:05:52] I drive by it every day.

[00:05:53] Love to see that.

[00:05:55] Also would like to send out condolences to Carlson family on their loss.

[00:05:59] One of their family members, Carleen.

[00:06:02] She passed away, I think a week or two ago.

[00:06:05] And so they're going to have the service and stuff like that.

[00:06:07] And her obituary is listed in the group.

[00:06:10] Looks like visitation is today from 10 until noon and the service at 12.

[00:06:17] Carlson funeral homes on Pearl Road.

[00:06:20] They're also accepting contributions to in Carleen's name to the American Red Cross.

[00:06:25] Once again, our condolences go out to the Carlson family.

[00:06:29] And in that post somebody had asked about buildings next to Carlson, the Buckeye Lounge

[00:06:34] and then the one next to it.

[00:06:35] And I guess there was some confusion about what buildings they owned and whatnot,

[00:06:38] but I guess they still own the Buckeye Lounge,

[00:06:41] but the one to the left of it they sold and it will be a daycare.

[00:06:44] Correct.

[00:06:45] Going through that remodel for right.

[00:06:47] It's supposed to be like you said, you know, a daycare.

[00:06:49] It's been moving very, very slow.

[00:06:50] So somebody posted and asked for everyone to make sure they registered to vote online.

[00:06:57] You can register until October 7th to be eligible in this election round.

[00:07:03] Yeah.

[00:07:04] And we don't allow political posts in our group.

[00:07:07] However, we do open it up in a single post for the month leading up to.

[00:07:12] Yeah, probably about the month.

[00:07:13] Yeah, like about the month before we make designated.

[00:07:15] You can talk about each topic that'll be on the ballot.

[00:07:18] So otherwise it's exhausting.

[00:07:19] Look for that.

[00:07:20] Right?

[00:07:21] Just a lot.

[00:07:22] But done with politics.

[00:07:23] Let me tell you already.

[00:07:26] Yeah.

[00:07:28] Speaking of maintaining an orderly group, Bob Gardner posted and I appreciate that he posted it.

[00:07:33] That the group he felt has dissolved in nothing more than a sounding board for people to complain

[00:07:38] about others and to tear down businesses.

[00:07:41] Why?

[00:07:42] After not our group after lots of discussions, I think there was over almost 150 comments.

[00:07:49] We made some changes to the group that I think is going to strengthen the community

[00:07:53] and help protect some of these businesses who don't get a chance to resolve the issue.

[00:07:58] Well, and somebody laughed at me because I said that you and I actually consulted

[00:08:02] with we belong to a Facebook admin group.

[00:08:05] Yeah, Facebook Power Man.

[00:08:07] It's managed by Facebook.

[00:08:09] Yeah.

[00:08:09] And it's a global group.

[00:08:11] And so we just asked the question in there.

[00:08:13] How do you deal with that?

[00:08:14] In 99.9% of the answers were we don't deal with it.

[00:08:19] We don't allow that.

[00:08:20] And so that's something that most groups do not allow evidently out there and we've

[00:08:26] been allowing for years.

[00:08:27] But I think targeting businesses and people don't realize how hurtful that can be.

[00:08:34] A little bit different than targeting a car that parks sideways in the parking lot.

[00:08:38] But, I mean, I did it.

[00:08:40] I posted one of those.

[00:08:41] So, I mean, but anyway, it was just too good to have to post.

[00:08:46] But anyway, so after some discussion and research on our part, we just decided

[00:08:52] to nip it.

[00:08:53] And, you know, we posted that we were making that change, but it's only going to

[00:08:57] affect probably 10 to 25 posts a year.

[00:09:00] I mean, there's not that many people that come to Facebook and say this business was

[00:09:05] awful, this, this, this.

[00:09:06] Yeah.

[00:09:07] You know, I do Google reviews.

[00:09:09] I pride myself that I have more positive reviews than negative.

[00:09:12] And then back in the day when Yelp was popular, you know, I posted a lot of

[00:09:15] Yelp reviews.

[00:09:16] I was actually Yelp elite and got to go to different special events and stuff

[00:09:21] like that.

[00:09:22] But is that what that award is on the mantle over there?

[00:09:26] But yeah, I think this will improve the image of the group.

[00:09:30] And you know, it'll continue to get businesses to.

[00:09:33] And if anyone has any questions about anything as always, reach out to us

[00:09:37] and we'd be happy to talk to you about it.

[00:09:40] Moving on.

[00:09:40] Let's speaking of business.

[00:09:43] Man, who put these in there?

[00:09:44] Let's check out Gamer's Lair.

[00:09:46] Here we go.

[00:09:47] We are in the middle of Gamer's Lair talking to Lana.

[00:09:52] Hello.

[00:09:52] One of the owners.

[00:09:53] Tell us a little bit about where you guys came from and a little bit of history.

[00:09:57] Okay.

[00:09:58] We were originally Play Live Nation in the South Park Mall.

[00:10:01] We were up in the food court with a big blue store there.

[00:10:04] We were there for about three years.

[00:10:07] We lost our lease, moved out and have been kind of in limbo for the last

[00:10:11] year and a half looking for someplace to be until we found this spot.

[00:10:15] And it was just absolutely perfect for what we are.

[00:10:18] Our last store was 2,400 square feet.

[00:10:21] This is 6,000 square feet.

[00:10:22] So it's much larger.

[00:10:24] Gives us a chance to do a lot more.

[00:10:26] And for those of you that don't know, we are over on Laurel Road in the subway

[00:10:30] Plaza over by Grab and Go and across the street from the car show every week.

[00:10:35] Yes.

[00:10:36] Stop by and say hi.

[00:10:38] Yeah, actually.

[00:10:39] So you guys just had your grand opening?

[00:10:40] We have not had our grand opening yet.

[00:10:42] Our grand opening actually is scheduled for, I believe it's October 3rd,

[00:10:48] whatever that Thursday there is.

[00:10:50] We have been open about a week.

[00:10:53] But yeah, the grand opening and everything is going to be the third.

[00:10:56] We're going to do a ribbon cutting on that Thursday and then do a big

[00:11:01] grand opening weekend.

[00:11:02] We haven't really decided exactly what all we're going to do,

[00:11:05] but we're going to do some big specials, festivities, things going on.

[00:11:09] Thinking about maybe doing an all nighter that will,

[00:11:13] we did all nighters at the mall.

[00:11:16] They're taxing, but they're so much fun.

[00:11:19] So I'm thinking we probably will do an all nighter that Saturday

[00:11:21] and be open from Saturday morning until Sunday sometime.

[00:11:25] Yeah.

[00:11:26] So I'm a gamer.

[00:11:29] I used to do all nighters at fun time,

[00:11:32] lock in in Parma.

[00:11:34] So that does sound really exciting.

[00:11:36] Oh, they're a blast.

[00:11:37] They're so much fun games.

[00:11:39] So there's a lot of things going on in here, different stations.

[00:11:42] And why don't you tell me a little bit about some of the offerings

[00:11:46] you have for gamers?

[00:11:47] Sure.

[00:11:48] We start out, we have Xbox stations and we have Xbox and PC stations

[00:11:53] for video gaming.

[00:11:55] We have two VR stations.

[00:11:58] We have a large station in the store that does a four person

[00:12:01] station for like sports games and things.

[00:12:04] We have a pool table.

[00:12:06] We have tabletop gaming in the middle of the store for board games,

[00:12:10] card games, people want to come in and play Magic the Gathering.

[00:12:13] We've got chess boards out.

[00:12:14] People can come play chess.

[00:12:15] We're looking at getting some chess tournaments and things going.

[00:12:18] And we also have two large tables for Warhammer.

[00:12:22] People to come in and play Warhammer.

[00:12:24] We have darts.

[00:12:25] We have a driving rig that you can come in.

[00:12:28] We partner with a NASCAR driver who will come in

[00:12:31] and lay down some times on an eye racing track.

[00:12:34] And you can come in and race against his time,

[00:12:36] try to beat his times.

[00:12:37] And we also have a D&D room that you can come in,

[00:12:40] play D&D with your group.

[00:12:42] It's set up with lighting.

[00:12:43] We're putting in video conferencing.

[00:12:46] And we also have a place that the DMs can cast to TVs

[00:12:50] so that they can have their maps and things for people to see.

[00:12:54] And it will double as a party room.

[00:12:56] We do birthday parties.

[00:12:57] So this room also double as a party room.

[00:12:59] DM means dungeon master.

[00:13:01] Did you know that?

[00:13:01] I did know that.

[00:13:02] I did know that.

[00:13:03] Yeah, birthday parties would be great here.

[00:13:06] Birthday parties are amazing here.

[00:13:08] We do birthday parties.

[00:13:10] You can come in, bring in five or ten kids.

[00:13:13] They can play Xbox games or PC games.

[00:13:17] We provide pizza, pop, a couple hours of gaming.

[00:13:21] Really easy for parents.

[00:13:22] All they do is come in.

[00:13:23] They bring a cake.

[00:13:24] We provide everything else.

[00:13:25] That sounds great.

[00:13:26] That sounds like an easy peasy.

[00:13:28] Yeah, we set up.

[00:13:29] We set up.

[00:13:30] We clean up.

[00:13:31] We do all the work.

[00:13:33] So the games you have available, how's your selection?

[00:13:37] Oh, we have pinball too.

[00:13:37] I forget pinball.

[00:13:38] We have pinball.

[00:13:39] Our selection of games on our Xboxes,

[00:13:42] we've got about 140 games.

[00:13:44] Wow.

[00:13:45] Something like that.

[00:13:46] Yeah, we try to keep it updated.

[00:13:48] We try to keep a good mix of the older games

[00:13:50] that everybody wants to play while keeping in the new

[00:13:53] and upcoming popular games too.

[00:13:55] So we try to stay on it.

[00:13:58] So I'm not a gamer.

[00:14:00] I know that's shocking to many of you,

[00:14:02] but you do have a retail space though.

[00:14:05] So if there's a gamer in my life,

[00:14:07] maybe I could buy them something up there.

[00:14:09] Yes, we have all kinds of gamer paraphernalia.

[00:14:14] We've got a lot of dice.

[00:14:16] When we were actually in the mall,

[00:14:17] we had people come from all over for our dice selection.

[00:14:20] We had people coming from Columbus,

[00:14:22] from Sandosky, from all over.

[00:14:24] We would come up for the day for our dice.

[00:14:26] So we have dice.

[00:14:27] We have a lot of D&D related stuff like dice towers

[00:14:30] and dice bags and that kind of thing.

[00:14:33] We also have a large selection of 3D printed things

[00:14:35] that we can sell cards,

[00:14:39] like Pokemon cards, Magic the Gathering cards.

[00:14:41] We sell Pokemon, Magic the Gathering,

[00:14:43] Yu-Gi-Oh, Flesh and Blood,

[00:14:46] just a lot of the cards.

[00:14:48] And we also do sell and buy singles.

[00:14:52] So that's a big thing too.

[00:14:53] And I saw you have some 3D printed items

[00:14:55] and some miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons

[00:14:58] and other board games.

[00:14:59] Right, we have miniatures.

[00:15:00] We have just all kinds of knick-knacks

[00:15:02] and different things for gamers.

[00:15:04] Mostly gaming related.

[00:15:05] We also do carry some anime related things.

[00:15:08] So if you're into anime,

[00:15:09] we may have some anime things here too.

[00:15:11] So if somebody wants to come in

[00:15:13] and play like, just say, let's say the PC games,

[00:15:16] maybe is there like a package

[00:15:18] that they would pay for a certain time period?

[00:15:20] How does that work?

[00:15:20] It's buy by the hour.

[00:15:21] So our Xboxes and PCs are pay by the hour.

[00:15:26] By 2 hours, you get an hour for free.

[00:15:28] Our time saves, it never expires.

[00:15:30] So if you only play for an hour and a half,

[00:15:32] the rest of that time will save.

[00:15:34] We also have hour passes for like the pool

[00:15:36] and the darts and things like that.

[00:15:38] But that's just a pass.

[00:15:39] You can come in and play.

[00:15:40] It expires, it doesn't save.

[00:15:42] But yeah, come in just buy by the hour.

[00:15:44] The most expensive thing we really have

[00:15:46] is our VR and our rig.

[00:15:48] And that's $9.99 for half an hour.

[00:15:50] So the pinball are pay to play.

[00:15:54] So they take quarters or singles.

[00:15:56] We also will have day passes

[00:15:58] and monthly memberships that we haven't quite worked out

[00:16:00] what we're doing with those yet.

[00:16:02] This is a different space than we had at the mall

[00:16:04] because we've got a lot more going on.

[00:16:05] So we're kind of trying to figure out

[00:16:08] what's best for everybody,

[00:16:10] what we're doing with everything.

[00:16:11] So we're still kind of figuring out

[00:16:13] day passes and monthly passes.

[00:16:15] And do you know at the top of your head

[00:16:16] what did the birthday party packages start at?

[00:16:19] We're going to get five stations for $250

[00:16:21] for two hours,

[00:16:23] which includes pizza and pop.

[00:16:25] Two hours of gaming.

[00:16:27] Each party participant

[00:16:29] will get an hour game pass to come back

[00:16:31] and play at a later date.

[00:16:32] So it'd be $250 for five or $350 for 10.

[00:16:36] That's very reasonable.

[00:16:37] For two hours.

[00:16:38] It makes you all the work.

[00:16:42] To not have it at the house

[00:16:44] and just see it out.

[00:16:46] That's happening right there.

[00:16:47] I love it when birthday parties come in

[00:16:49] and they'll be just a mess everywhere

[00:16:51] and the mom's like, oh, I'll clean this up.

[00:16:53] And I'm like, no, that's okay. Go home.

[00:16:54] It's fine. We'll just throw it.

[00:16:56] It's not a problem for us.

[00:16:59] Nice.

[00:17:00] We're glad that you're in the community now.

[00:17:02] This place looks great. The space looks great.

[00:17:04] We're very excited to be here.

[00:17:06] We've had a great welcome.

[00:17:07] A lot of people have come in.

[00:17:09] Even people in the plaza,

[00:17:11] we've had such a great response from everybody.

[00:17:14] So we're very excited to be here.

[00:17:16] Good. Well, thanks for sitting down and talking to us today.

[00:17:19] And don't forget, Gamer's Lair,

[00:17:22] Laurel Road over in the subway plaza.

[00:17:25] Cross from Fat Bob's.

[00:17:27] Yes.

[00:17:28] Right? Check it out.

[00:17:30] Come and see him. You are open.

[00:17:32] How many news week? We are open every day.

[00:17:34] We're open from noon till 10

[00:17:36] every day except Sunday, noon to 6.

[00:17:39] All right. Come and see him.

[00:17:40] See you guys.

[00:17:41] All right. So check them out.

[00:17:42] What a neat spot.

[00:17:44] I'm not a gamer, but I want to go and drive the car thing.

[00:17:48] That place used to be

[00:17:48] a chandelier place.

[00:17:50] So it had plugs all over the place.

[00:17:52] They were able to plug in all their TVs

[00:17:54] and consoles and all the stuff.

[00:17:56] It was like a plug and play.

[00:17:59] Right.

[00:18:01] Go check them out.

[00:18:02] If you guys were part of the Easter Egg Hunt,

[00:18:04] they gave out coupons.

[00:18:06] They thought they'd be open a little bit earlier,

[00:18:07] but the coupons are still good.

[00:18:09] So for, I think it's like a full hour gameplay.

[00:18:12] Yeah.

[00:18:12] Take your coupons in there and check them out

[00:18:15] over by Laurel Square.

[00:18:16] Yeah. And I think I just saw him post that

[00:18:18] for 1999 you get three hours of gameplay

[00:18:21] and they suggested dropping your kids off

[00:18:23] and going shopping and then coming back later

[00:18:25] and picking them up. Nice.

[00:18:27] It's a nice way to unwind after a long day

[00:18:29] of school if you don't have homework

[00:18:30] or work. Right.

[00:18:32] All right. Let's head over to Hounds Town.

[00:18:34] Check out Bruce.

[00:18:36] We got Bruce up for adoption.

[00:18:38] All right.

[00:18:41] Hey guys, it's Roger from Hounds Town with my weekly update.

[00:18:44] This week we have Bruce with us.

[00:18:45] He is a 10 month old male pity mix.

[00:18:48] He's awesome.

[00:18:49] He has come right in and fit right in

[00:18:51] with the play packs he's been playing with.

[00:18:53] He's also friendly with cats.

[00:18:56] So he's on the smaller side.

[00:18:58] Anyone looking for

[00:18:59] a new addition to the family

[00:19:02] in maybe have cats in your family.

[00:19:04] He would be a perfect fit.

[00:19:06] We also still have Josh coming in

[00:19:08] two or three times a week.

[00:19:10] He's a two year old Husky mix.

[00:19:12] We have pictures of both of those dogs

[00:19:15] on our Hounds Town Cleveland Brunswick

[00:19:17] Facebook page.

[00:19:18] And as a reminder, you can always go over

[00:19:21] to the Brea Animal Rescue site

[00:19:22] and search through all of the pets

[00:19:24] both dogs and cats that they have there.

[00:19:27] I hope everybody has

[00:19:28] a great Labor Day weekend

[00:19:30] in a good Labor Day

[00:19:32] and then we will be back at you next week

[00:19:34] with another update.

[00:19:36] Have a great weekend everyone.

[00:19:37] Alright, let's get into some of these things.

[00:19:39] Things to do on the two on two.

[00:19:42] Alright, here we go.

[00:19:43] Let's kick it off. Get it?

[00:19:45] Ha ha! Go ahead.

[00:19:48] You can kick it off.

[00:19:50] Community Night Football Game

[00:19:52] is tonight at 7pm.

[00:19:53] It's a 7pm kickoff.

[00:19:55] They will be welcoming the graduating class

[00:19:57] of 2037. Holy cow.

[00:20:01] Oh.

[00:20:03] Families of the kindergarteners

[00:20:04] will start assembling at 6pm

[00:20:05] at the Brunswick-Automarkt Stadium.

[00:20:07] Parade and introduction will start at 6.30pm

[00:20:09] at 7pm. We'll watch the game

[00:20:11] against Olmsted Falls.

[00:20:13] The marching blue devils of course

[00:20:14] will be there at the halftime performance

[00:20:16] and this year parking is limited.

[00:20:18] They got rid of all that parking in front of the building.

[00:20:21] They're at Andover at Edward

[00:20:23] or not Edwards, Willets

[00:20:24] so it's going to be a parking

[00:20:28] problem so they're encouraging people

[00:20:29] to carpool and arrive early

[00:20:31] to find a spot. 2037.

[00:20:34] Yeah, right. Let's not do the math.

[00:20:35] I was going to but oh my gosh.

[00:20:37] Also tonight is Bike Night

[00:20:39] over at the Brew Kettle

[00:20:40] and that is from

[00:20:42] 6-9 so if you don't know where they're located

[00:20:45] they are at the corner

[00:20:46] of Marks and Route 303

[00:20:49] in the Drug Mart Plaza there. That looks like a good time.

[00:20:52] Yeah, and when they installed

[00:20:53] those virtual golf simulators

[00:20:55] I always wanted to try that.

[00:20:57] We might have to go over there and do a story on that.

[00:20:59] Might be fun.

[00:21:01] Island Troy is going to be at the Tangled Vine

[00:21:03] and it's Jimmy Buffett

[00:21:05] Day and that's tonight

[00:21:06] from what is that 6-9?

[00:21:08] So if you'd like to hear some of that, head up to the Tangled Vine tonight.

[00:21:12] Also tonight at 7pm

[00:21:13] is the last of the

[00:21:15] Sunset Concert Series.

[00:21:17] This one is the Diamond Project Band

[00:21:19] they're coming to Maple Side

[00:21:21] for the ninth year and

[00:21:22] again that is from 6-9 tonight at Maple Side.

[00:21:25] What do we got going on on Saturday?

[00:21:27] On Saturday is

[00:21:28] Friends at Brunswick Library

[00:21:30] $3 Bag Sale over at the library

[00:21:32] from 10-2 is the $3 Bag Sale

[00:21:35] and again that's tomorrow

[00:21:37] Brunswick Library

[00:21:38] you know where it's at, right?

[00:21:40] And then going on tonight

[00:21:41] at Valley City Community Group

[00:21:44] is having a movie in the Park

[00:21:46] Night. They're playing the film If

[00:21:48] That will be going on

[00:21:50] when it gets dark. Bring your blankets

[00:21:52] bring some lawn chairs

[00:21:54] some snacks and enjoy the last weekend

[00:21:56] of summer right there at the park.

[00:21:58] Also this weekend there's a horseshoe

[00:22:00] tournament and that is

[00:22:02] going to be over at Willow Lake Park

[00:22:03] that's tomorrow at 1 o'clock

[00:22:06] if you'd like to, if you haven't checked out Willow Lake Park

[00:22:08] definitely get over there and try that out

[00:22:10] they're definitely a hidden gem

[00:22:11] so this might be a great opportunity

[00:22:13] to whether it's supposed to be nice.

[00:22:15] And then later that night at 7pm

[00:22:17] Grunge DNA will be playing

[00:22:19] at Willow Lake so you can check them out

[00:22:21] after the horseshoe tournament.

[00:22:23] I have not heard the word grunge in years.

[00:22:26] Yeah 90s rock party

[00:22:27] celebrate the weekend.

[00:22:29] Nice. Pick your own seedless grapes

[00:22:31] there you go that's the name of the event

[00:22:33] so it doesn't get much more descriptive

[00:22:35] than that. That's over in Hinkley

[00:22:37] this Sunday at 2-5

[00:22:39] at Weymouth Farms in Orchard Winery

[00:22:41] that's on Weymouth Road

[00:22:42] check out their Facebook page if you'd like to go over

[00:22:45] and do some of that that sounds like

[00:22:47] Yeah I thought this looked really fun

[00:22:48] it says they will drive you out

[00:22:50] in a Kawasaki Mule UTV

[00:22:53] to their grape vineyard where you can

[00:22:54] browse variety of table grapes

[00:22:56] seedless and slip skin. I don't know what that is

[00:22:59] I'm not a wine connoisseur

[00:23:01] I'm not wine grape connoisseur

[00:23:03] and then you can take home

[00:23:04] 2.5 or 5 pound clamshell of grapes

[00:23:07] that you've picked yourself

[00:23:09] and then it lists a whole bunch of different kinds of grapes

[00:23:11] I don't know what that is I know green and red

[00:23:13] and cotton candy

[00:23:15] that's about it

[00:23:15] but this does sound like fun

[00:23:18] that does sound like a lot of fun

[00:23:19] so if that's something you guys are into check it out

[00:23:21] that's on Sunday again at Weymouth Farm

[00:23:24] in Orchard Winery

[00:23:25] didn't even know that was out there

[00:23:27] see the things we learn around here

[00:23:30] we're heading back over to Willow Lake Park

[00:23:32] because they're having a cornhole tournament on Sunday

[00:23:35] so Sunday at noon

[00:23:36] head on over there a lot of things going on

[00:23:38] Labor Day weekend

[00:23:39] maybe a nice weekend to go camping over there

[00:23:42] you know just

[00:23:43] quite possibly

[00:23:43] they got the jam machine playing Sunday night

[00:23:47] from 7 to 11 so more live music

[00:23:49] very nice

[00:23:50] and then next week is Shred Day

[00:23:53] for the City of Brunswick

[00:23:55] that's going to be September 7th from 9 to 12

[00:23:58] so that's next Saturday

[00:24:00] Paper Shredding event at Brunswick City Hall

[00:24:02] again 9 to 12

[00:24:03] participants are limited to a 4 box maximum

[00:24:06] donations will be accepted

[00:24:07] for the food pantry as well

[00:24:09] and local charities so

[00:24:10] very nice and then the clam

[00:24:13] bake at Red Wagon Farms is sold out

[00:24:15] however the red onion is having

[00:24:17] a clam bake Saturday September 14th

[00:24:20] they'll be serving from 5 to 6pm

[00:24:22] the bar and patio will be open

[00:24:24] to ticket holders at 4pm

[00:24:25] and it is $75

[00:24:27] you can get an extra dozen

[00:24:29] for only $15 more

[00:24:30] and reach out to Patty over at the red onion

[00:24:33] for details

[00:24:33] and actually and I think we're going to wrap it up

[00:24:36] with just a reminder that the

[00:24:37] Brunswick Hills Police Association

[00:24:39] is in their final days

[00:24:41] of selling raffle tickets

[00:24:42] tickets are $20 a piece and you get almost $7,000

[00:24:46] worth of prizes

[00:24:47] that is to fund the

[00:24:50] Kenai unit so I just

[00:24:51] learned that the other day that it is completely

[00:24:53] funded by the police association

[00:24:55] which means it's funded by you all

[00:24:57] who give donations so please stop

[00:24:59] by the red onion the backyard

[00:25:01] or the Brunswick Hills Police Station

[00:25:03] there's about 40 tickets left

[00:25:05] they only selling 300 so there's about 40 tickets left

[00:25:07] how much are the tickets?

[00:25:09] 20 bucks

[00:25:10] for almost $7,000 worth of stuff

[00:25:13] and I believe that's it

[00:25:14] I believe that's all I've got

[00:25:16] let's see oh I talked to

[00:25:18] Taylor at Parks & Rec

[00:25:19] she said that they are on track for North Park Lake

[00:25:23] to dredge the beginning of October

[00:25:25] shouldn't take long and then the

[00:25:27] rainwater will naturally refill it

[00:25:29] to be opened early next year

[00:25:31] and then they have anticipations

[00:25:33] of restocking it with fish

[00:25:35] so that you'll be able to fish back there

[00:25:37] but you know getting the depth of the lake

[00:25:39] back to something reasonable

[00:25:41] will really cut down on that algae

[00:25:43] what I didn't know is that they are

[00:25:45] taking all the sludge or dirt

[00:25:47] and stuff that's coming out of that lake

[00:25:49] and putting it in a property

[00:25:50] that they own over on the corner

[00:25:53] of North Carpenter and Grafton

[00:25:55] there used to be two barns there

[00:25:57] now there's one barn there but

[00:25:58] that property is owned by the city

[00:26:00] and they're just going to dump it all over there

[00:26:02] fill it in huh?

[00:26:03] it looks pretty filled in as it is

[00:26:05] no sledding, no new sled hills or anything?

[00:26:08] no new sled hills, they said because

[00:26:09] the project is fully funded by a grant

[00:26:12] to help improve waterways

[00:26:15] particularly Healy Creek

[00:26:16] that services it that they can't add

[00:26:18] those additional projects to it

[00:26:21] they are limited with certain

[00:26:22] without losing the grant

[00:26:23] but yeah, I thought that was interesting

[00:26:25] and thanks Taylor for the information

[00:26:27] we'll look forward to the progress on that

[00:26:29] and keeping you guys updated

[00:26:31] anything else that you guys want to talk about
