[00:00:00] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:00:06] What do you think?
[00:00:11] I think episode number 54.
[00:00:13] Nice.
[00:00:14] Got to start it off with congratulations to the class of 2024.
[00:00:20] How many were in the class this year?
[00:00:23] Do you know?
[00:00:24] I do not know.
[00:00:25] Graduating class?
[00:00:26] Yeah, I know I had around 500 and they say it's getting smaller.
[00:00:29] What are we going to say?
[00:00:32] 440, 450?
[00:00:33] I don't know.
[00:00:34] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:00:35] But congratulations to each and every one of them.
[00:00:37] Gorgeous day.
[00:00:38] Yeah, it was.
[00:00:39] Everything.
[00:00:40] Yeah.
[00:00:41] On to bigger things.
[00:00:43] And did you see Willets is completely gone now?
[00:00:46] Gone.
[00:00:47] Completely torn down.
[00:00:48] Towsley?
[00:00:49] Gone.
[00:00:50] Really really close or is it all gone?
[00:00:51] Almost gone.
[00:00:52] I don't know.
[00:00:53] I don't know.
[00:00:54] I was just going with your theme there of gone.
[00:00:57] They should change those bushes out front.
[00:00:59] They should get somebody out there to...
[00:01:01] What should we change them to?
[00:01:02] I don't know.
[00:01:03] Just BHS or something?
[00:01:04] Oh, we have to regrow them certain ways.
[00:01:08] They're grown.
[00:01:09] They're full enough that you could probably change it to whatever you'd like.
[00:01:12] Oh really?
[00:01:13] Yeah.
[00:01:14] They've let them go, have they?
[00:01:15] Yes.
[00:01:16] Today is the 31st.
[00:01:17] If it's not done by the 14th then I think under the cover of night we should
[00:01:21] probably climb in there and...
[00:01:23] I haven't trimmed my own hedges at the house.
[00:01:25] I am not going to go create BHS out of Towsley.
[00:01:28] No, if we're doing it, it's going to be BGT.
[00:01:31] I like it.
[00:01:34] They'll definitely know who did it then, won't they?
[00:01:38] You see the Brunswick Fire Station had their...
[00:01:41] The new fire station had their ceremony for their...
[00:01:45] Groundbreaking.
[00:01:46] Groundbreaking.
[00:01:47] Yeah.
[00:01:48] Let's hear a little bit from city manager Carl DeForest.
[00:01:51] So on behalf of Brunswick City Council and the city administration, I'd like to welcome
[00:01:55] you to 1094 Hadcock.
[00:01:57] 1094 Hadcock is the future home of the Brunswick Division of Fire.
[00:02:02] And we currently have two stations.
[00:02:04] We're going to go to one station in the very near future and hopefully everybody
[00:02:09] remembers on time and on budget.
[00:02:14] This is kind of a big deal.
[00:02:16] We don't do this very often.
[00:02:17] Last time we built and opened a building was the rec center which was in the early,
[00:02:22] early 90s, 91 or 92.
[00:02:24] I think we moved into that.
[00:02:25] So every 33 years or so we build a new building and I won't be around for the next one.
[00:02:33] This is a very big day for Brunswick.
[00:02:35] And so I want to say something that I said when we opened the inclusive playground in
[00:02:39] Nura Park, which is public spaces help to define communities.
[00:02:44] And for a long time our public space for what our fire department was using
[00:02:48] where they lived and worked was not reflective of the values of this community because
[00:02:54] this is a community that values safety forces, that values those who work to serve
[00:03:00] or protect us and what the conditions were frankly abysmal.
[00:03:06] And this was a step towards changing that one that I wish we had taken frankly sooner.
[00:03:11] I want to particularly call out Councilwoman Piper, Councilman Lambert and Councilman
[00:03:17] Smith who as a part of a new council orientation, we took them around to the buildings and
[00:03:24] immediately they brought up how is this possible that this is the condition of the
[00:03:28] fire station.
[00:03:29] And I had no answer.
[00:03:33] And we had at that point, I know we had to go forward and we had to work to do
[00:03:37] this.
[00:03:38] And we all worked together and everyone worked together in the community and the residents
[00:03:44] overwhelmingly supported it.
[00:03:45] And I think they did that because it's reflective of what Brunswick is about.
[00:03:49] And this is going to be a major change in the way that things look and feel.
[00:03:53] Brunswick is doing very well.
[00:03:56] And the way that we treat our safety forces should reflect how the community feels
[00:04:02] about our safety forces.
[00:04:04] All right.
[00:04:05] That is very exciting.
[00:04:06] It is very exciting.
[00:04:08] They're going to be able to respond quicker and have all their assets in one
[00:04:11] location.
[00:04:13] You know, the firefighters are very excited and grateful to the community for passing
[00:04:17] that levy that they needed to make that happen.
[00:04:18] So most definitely.
[00:04:20] Well, keeping an eye on that is that goes on a lot of new building stuff going
[00:04:26] on.
[00:04:27] Yeah.
[00:04:27] And so speaking of construction on Hadcock there, you're just a little speed
[00:04:34] driver down this thing.
[00:04:35] You're like, oh, excited.
[00:04:37] That wasn't me.
[00:04:37] I think that was them.
[00:04:38] Oh, that was somebody else.
[00:04:39] Getting a brand new.
[00:04:40] I thought that was you.
[00:04:42] Getting a brand new driveway.
[00:04:43] That thing was for years.
[00:04:45] Shocks.
[00:04:46] Yeah.
[00:04:47] Years and years.
[00:04:47] For years, it's been bad.
[00:04:49] So if you haven't checked it out, go check out Ignite Brewing or NEO Games,
[00:04:56] Lumberjack, Pax Throwing.
[00:04:59] All in the same building, the courthouse.
[00:05:01] Yeah.
[00:05:01] Something to do.
[00:05:02] Definitely.
[00:05:04] This is so much fun to watch.
[00:05:05] Yeah.
[00:05:06] I'm really enjoying.
[00:05:07] I've never been more excited to watch anything be built.
[00:05:10] Architectural Justice, the winery just going up bit by bit.
[00:05:14] And just some of the things that they're doing are so unique.
[00:05:17] If you're not following their page, just give them a like, follow along.
[00:05:22] Yeah.
[00:05:22] They made these concrete posts out of pores.
[00:05:25] They made boxes to put them in and pour the concrete.
[00:05:28] They actually have a pretty lengthy YouTube video
[00:05:31] that shows how they built those.
[00:05:32] So every little detail that they're doing is quite amazing.
[00:05:37] It is.
[00:05:38] I mean, usually stuff like that's not that exciting to me.
[00:05:41] But I've enjoyed watching that a lot.
[00:05:45] That is all the posts we have for the week.
[00:05:46] But we have tons of events coming up.
[00:05:48] That's it?
[00:05:49] That's it.
[00:05:50] Let's head over to Roger at Houndstown for the pooch of the week.
[00:05:52] Oh, yeah.
[00:05:54] Then we'll be back.
[00:05:57] Hey, Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:05:58] It's Roger from Houndstown with my weekly update for you guys.
[00:06:02] Just letting you know that we have Daylight in here this week.
[00:06:05] He is a 10-month-old terrier pit mix.
[00:06:09] You've got to check out the pictures.
[00:06:11] Go to our Houndstown Brunswick Facebook site.
[00:06:15] Look at the pictures.
[00:06:16] He is just a sweet little boy, 10 months old.
[00:06:19] Truly came right into our facility,
[00:06:22] fit right in with the other dogs in a pack.
[00:06:25] The tail is wagging, loves humans, loves dogs.
[00:06:29] Has done good overnight with us as well.
[00:06:32] So if anybody's interested in adopting him,
[00:06:35] we would love to hear from you.
[00:06:37] Our number here at Houndstown Brunswick is 330-460-3052.
[00:06:43] After today, we do send the pups that aren't adopted out
[00:06:47] back to Brea Animal Rescue for the weekend
[00:06:49] since they have a lot of traffic there on the weekends
[00:06:52] to get them more exposure as well.
[00:06:53] But we'd love to have anybody come in not only
[00:06:56] to check out Daylight but also to check out our facility.
[00:06:59] Remember, we do give anybody their first day
[00:07:02] of doggy daycare free to come in and check us out here.
[00:07:05] They would just need to reach out to us
[00:07:07] to set up an appointment and an evaluation.
[00:07:10] We'll go over all those details if anybody calls.
[00:07:12] And then lastly, just remember, remind everybody
[00:07:16] that not only does Brea Animal Rescue have Daylight
[00:07:20] available for adoption, but they have
[00:07:21] all kinds of other dogs and cats.
[00:07:23] So they have open hours pretty much every day,
[00:07:28] but on the weekends especially,
[00:07:29] you can go to the Brea Animal Rescue site
[00:07:31] to see all of that information.
[00:07:33] But hopefully we find Daylight a home,
[00:07:36] but also know that they've got plenty of other dogs
[00:07:38] and cats up for adoption.
[00:07:39] Hope everybody has a great weekend
[00:07:41] and I will be back at you next week with another update.
[00:07:44] Take care and have a good weekend.
[00:07:47] All right, what a cute pooch.
[00:07:48] Speaking of pooch, puppy yoga, really?
[00:07:52] Puppy yoga June 2nd from 12 to one.
[00:07:56] And that is $15 per ticket.
[00:08:00] Oh, puppy yoga at the farm.
[00:08:02] Sorry, I didn't do that whole thing.
[00:08:05] Part of it is donated, it looks like,
[00:08:06] to Muttley Crew Rescue, correct?
[00:08:09] Yeah. CLE.
[00:08:11] Yeah, $9 of each ticket.
[00:08:12] Nice, very nice.
[00:08:14] So bring your own mat, puppies will be available.
[00:08:17] For adoption or just to play?
[00:08:19] I don't think this is a bring your own puppy thing.
[00:08:21] It's a play with the puppies at the farm.
[00:08:24] That's just so...
[00:08:26] Classified by certified instructors from Chagrin Yoga.
[00:08:29] Oh, we didn't say what farm.
[00:08:31] Oh, it's Red Wagon Farm.
[00:08:33] Yeah, yeah.
[00:08:34] We still do have a few farms around there.
[00:08:36] So that sounds like it could be
[00:08:40] bringing home another dog dangerous.
[00:08:42] Yeah, and they have some great beer there.
[00:08:44] So with one drink included,
[00:08:47] that should be a good time. Wow, that's a really good deal.
[00:08:48] Yeah. A puppy, a beer.
[00:08:51] We don't get to keep the puppy.
[00:08:52] And yoga for $15.
[00:08:54] I'm head over heels.
[00:08:56] Check out their Facebook page for all the details.
[00:08:58] Get your tickets, all that good stuff.
[00:09:01] Very cool.
[00:09:02] Let's talk about beavers.
[00:09:05] The Cleveland Metro Parks is having a beavers world hike
[00:09:09] at the Johnson's Picnic area.
[00:09:11] You can join naturalist Foster Brown
[00:09:13] as they discover the world of beavers
[00:09:15] as they hike around the south end of Hinkley Lake
[00:09:17] and the dammed up backwaters of the Rocky River.
[00:09:21] I'm trying to get excited for that, but I just...
[00:09:24] No, it sounds like fun.
[00:09:25] That is tomorrow, June 1st from 7 a.m. to 8 30.
[00:09:30] No, unfortunately I have to work.
[00:09:31] Aw, darn.
[00:09:33] Not getting up at 7 a.m. for...
[00:09:35] Look at the beavers.
[00:09:36] Not that particular day, but maybe another day
[00:09:39] I'll take my own hike over there.
[00:09:42] All right, what else we got?
[00:09:44] We got, this one is very unique,
[00:09:46] so I had to throw this in here.
[00:09:47] It's Battle Friends Monthly.
[00:09:49] This is Sunday, June 2nd from noon to 5 p.m.
[00:09:53] And that is at Plum Creek Park South.
[00:09:56] It's $5 cash or cash app on site.
[00:09:59] What is it, you ask?
[00:10:00] What is it?
[00:10:01] Lucas, tell us.
[00:10:03] I believe they just get together
[00:10:05] and battle each other with foam swords
[00:10:07] and other things.
[00:10:10] I thought it was like a foam party
[00:10:11] like the kids have after the last day of school
[00:10:13] or something.
[00:10:15] It's seriously people in battle gear, it looks like.
[00:10:19] It says scenario descriptions to soon come.
[00:10:22] But that's put on by Battle Friends Foam Fighting,
[00:10:25] a nonprofit organization who holds monthly events
[00:10:28] here at Plum Creek Park South.
[00:10:30] Who knew?
[00:10:31] Yeah.
[00:10:32] Okay, so let's not call 911
[00:10:34] when you see people with swords
[00:10:35] running around Plum Creek.
[00:10:37] Because you know that's gonna happen.
[00:10:39] Yeah, swords and shields and other gear.
[00:10:42] Nice, that looks like a lot of fun though.
[00:10:44] Tonight at Amy's Arbor's is a Hello Summer Backyard Party.
[00:10:48] Come out and celebrate summer.
[00:10:50] Rock and Rich will be there entertaining everyone.
[00:10:52] Summer cocktails and food as well.
[00:10:55] Amy's Arbor's is in Valley City.
[00:10:57] Check that out tonight.
[00:10:59] Yeah, beautiful little house right there on Center Road.
[00:11:02] So cute.
[00:11:02] Have you ever been there?
[00:11:03] Yes.
[00:11:04] So cute.
[00:11:05] I thought this one was really cool.
[00:11:06] The kids are out of school as of yesterday
[00:11:08] and they're already on our nerves, right?
[00:11:12] So Southwest Baptist Church from June 10th
[00:11:14] through August 9th is going to have a day camp.
[00:11:18] It's $35 per day with lunch included.
[00:11:22] Looks like a drop-in event
[00:11:24] that includes five huge inflatables, free lunch and snacks.
[00:11:29] It's got the sports and gymnasium, swimming, field trips,
[00:11:33] animals, music learning and science fun.
[00:11:35] And I'm not sure if that's every day.
[00:11:37] That's a huge, yeah.
[00:11:40] So that's not just camp for a week.
[00:11:41] That's anybody who needs maybe some...
[00:11:44] Yeah, it says come one day or every day.
[00:11:46] For the kids to do from nine to three.
[00:11:49] Wow.
[00:11:50] Yeah.
[00:11:51] Kudos to them.
[00:11:52] That's a huge project to take on for six weeks.
[00:11:54] Yeah, they must got some good volunteers
[00:11:56] that are helping out with that.
[00:11:58] Let's get to some of the live music
[00:12:00] that we got around town.
[00:12:01] We have Island Troy.
[00:12:04] He's gonna be live Friday, June 7th, next Friday
[00:12:08] from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Tangled Vine.
[00:12:11] Kicking it off there for three hours.
[00:12:13] It's gonna be on the patio, weather permitting.
[00:12:16] Should be nice weather that night.
[00:12:19] What else we got?
[00:12:20] Okay, so then tomorrow night we have No Alternative
[00:12:23] at Manzo's.
[00:12:25] These new glasses are really,
[00:12:27] they're doing me a lot of good.
[00:12:28] Yeah, I know.
[00:12:29] They're Elton John-ish, but I can't see right yet.
[00:12:33] Not used to that.
[00:12:33] Anyway, No Alternative, Saturday at 8 30 p.m.
[00:12:38] They start at Manzo's.
[00:12:40] So if you wanna check them out,
[00:12:41] does it say what kind of music?
[00:12:42] It just says...
[00:12:43] It says great music and delicious booze.
[00:12:44] Delicious booze.
[00:12:46] What more do you need?
[00:12:47] That's right.
[00:12:48] Right?
[00:12:50] We got 16 Strings returning to the backyard.
[00:12:53] That's tonight as well, 8 p.m.
[00:12:56] And then tomorrow night at the backyard is karaoke.
[00:13:00] Nice.
[00:13:00] Starting at six o'clock.
[00:13:02] It's like your grandmother's karaoke, I guess.
[00:13:04] They're gonna start really early.
[00:13:05] So you can go for your...
[00:13:07] Before it gets too cold and too dark.
[00:13:09] Right?
[00:13:10] Yeah, 16 Strings plays semi-acoustic rock.
[00:13:13] That's okay.
[00:13:15] That's all right.
[00:13:16] Maple Side Farm Rocks.
[00:13:18] Looks like they're kicking off
[00:13:19] their summer concert series.
[00:13:21] Friday the 14th, right out of the gate.
[00:13:25] Escape Journey Tribute Band.
[00:13:27] Is it Escape?
[00:13:28] I guess that is Escape.
[00:13:31] Seven o'clock, Friday June 14th.
[00:13:33] Maple Side Farms.
[00:13:36] Check them out.
[00:13:37] I guarantee you that'll sell out.
[00:13:38] Yeah.
[00:13:39] And that's...
[00:13:40] Guarantee you.
[00:13:41] They recreate the 80s era Journey concert.
[00:13:43] Oh my gosh.
[00:13:44] Sounds pretty fun.
[00:13:45] You might find me there.
[00:13:46] Nice view, good music.
[00:13:49] You might find that sounds like a good time actually.
[00:13:51] All right, we're out of music.
[00:13:53] Are we out of music?
[00:13:54] Are we done?
[00:13:55] So I stumbled across this one
[00:13:57] and you were like, huh.
[00:13:58] And I was like, huh, who knew?
[00:14:01] So there is a company in Brunswick
[00:14:04] called DRR Off-Road EV, right?
[00:14:07] Is that the name of the whole company?
[00:14:09] They are having an open house on June 22nd.
[00:14:12] We'll remind you guys again
[00:14:13] because we know that's a couple weeks out yet.
[00:14:15] But they make electric ATVs, I think.
[00:14:19] Yeah, ATVs and off-road EVs.
[00:14:24] I just thought that was so cool.
[00:14:25] The business is right here in Brunswick
[00:14:27] in Industrial Parkway.
[00:14:28] And they will be having that open house June 22nd
[00:14:32] if you wanna go check it out.
[00:14:34] And we'll give you more information.
[00:14:36] We'll update it, but go to their page if you'd like,
[00:14:39] get some information about it.
[00:14:41] But who knew?
[00:14:42] Yeah.
[00:14:43] That's pretty cool.
[00:14:44] Enduro motorcycles too, EV, all EV.
[00:14:47] Everything's EV.
[00:14:49] So very cool.
[00:14:51] And then they said you're gonna be able to test drive it.
[00:14:53] It's gonna be a good time.
[00:14:53] Well, nice to meet you guys.
[00:14:56] This one's just over the Boston Road.
[00:15:00] We have Hinkley Township Movie Night.
[00:15:02] I always enjoy these.
[00:15:03] Took the kids here many times.
[00:15:05] That is tomorrow night at 8 p.m.
[00:15:08] They're gonna show Ice Age
[00:15:09] right on Ridge Road at the Hinkley Police Department.
[00:15:13] Grab a blanket and a lawn chair
[00:15:15] and join on the hill at Brungers Park.
[00:15:18] Popcorn and water, complimentary for everyone.
[00:15:22] Oh, fun, very fun.
[00:15:25] Wanna remind everybody too
[00:15:26] about the community garage sales coming up.
[00:15:29] And that will be the week of like the 19th.
[00:15:33] You can pretty much set your own hours.
[00:15:34] But if you're interested,
[00:15:36] just go to Brunswick Community Garage Sale Event page.
[00:15:39] Under the discussion tab, you can put your address,
[00:15:42] the hours that you're gonna be open.
[00:15:44] There'll be a list of garage sales there.
[00:15:47] They highlight what they're selling,
[00:15:49] all that kind of fun stuff.
[00:15:50] So we're happy to do that again.
[00:15:54] Also wanna remind everybody too
[00:15:55] that Christmas in July is coming up
[00:15:58] and we're getting a full calendar
[00:16:00] with a lot of businesses.
[00:16:02] Nice.
[00:16:02] So stay tuned for that.
[00:16:05] And also during July is,
[00:16:07] I can't believe I'm saying this
[00:16:08] and the kids are just out of school.
[00:16:10] But we're scheduling this stuff now.
[00:16:12] Stuff the Bus is gonna be July 27th.
[00:16:15] Nice.
[00:16:16] So stay tuned.
[00:16:17] You got some great sponsors for that.
[00:16:19] We do.
[00:16:20] Nice.
[00:16:21] You'll get some freebie stuff when you donate this year.
[00:16:24] So we're excited about that.
[00:16:24] Oh, and a lot of people have been asking
[00:16:26] about what's going on at the corner of Boston
[00:16:29] and 130th.
[00:16:31] Right.
[00:16:31] So I'm doing some investigating on that.
[00:16:34] It turns out there's gonna be a fast food restaurant.
[00:16:37] And by the next episode, I should know which one.
[00:16:40] Wah wah.
[00:16:42] Another drive-through.
[00:16:43] Another drive-through.
[00:16:45] Well.
[00:16:46] Hopefully it's a change one, but I'm fearful
[00:16:48] it's gonna be one that we already have three or four of.
[00:16:52] Jeez.
[00:16:54] Well, at least it'll give them something
[00:16:56] on that corner of the town, I guess.
[00:16:58] That's one way to think of it.
[00:16:59] Right.
[00:17:00] And it's a big property so we could probably expect
[00:17:02] other commercial stuff to go there.
[00:17:03] We do wanna remind any millionaires
[00:17:05] that might be listening that there's, you know,
[00:17:07] the old Geeked Out is still available.
[00:17:09] We need a nice sit-down restaurant.
[00:17:11] We have to know somebody that would put one in somewhere.
[00:17:14] So let's see, Geeked Out, where else?
[00:17:16] Where else can they put a restaurant in?
[00:17:17] Hickory Ridge?
[00:17:19] Yeah, I mean.
[00:17:20] You know, there's a couple of them.
[00:17:21] So, you know, reach out.
[00:17:23] We'll help ya.
[00:17:25] You can get a burger named after you.
[00:17:27] Like Lucas is getting a burger named after him at Niners.
[00:17:30] I heard, I gotta reach out to them.
[00:17:30] I heard that we got the name.
[00:17:32] Yeah.
[00:17:33] I just gotta go up there and give it a try.
[00:17:34] Right.
[00:17:35] If it's anything like any of the other burgers.
[00:17:37] We'll tell you guys about it.
[00:17:37] We've got a drink coming out of the backyard.
[00:17:43] Brunswick therapy drink.
[00:17:45] And then Lucas has got his own burger.
[00:17:47] So.
[00:17:49] I feel like Mr. Beast or something.
[00:17:50] We hit the big time.
[00:17:51] Yeah, we could only make a fraction of his money.
[00:17:54] Anyway, that's gonna do it for us this week, you guys.
[00:17:56] Thanks for tuning in.
[00:17:57] Please subscribe if you haven't already.
[00:18:00] Hit that like button.
[00:18:01] I think that's it.
[00:18:02] That's it.
[00:18:03] See ya.
[00:18:33] Thank you for joining us for another therapy session.
