[00:00:00] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly

[00:00:11] All right episode 48 we're coming up on a year getting closer and closer what are we gonna do to celebrate? I

[00:00:17] Don't know we're gonna have to come up with something

[00:00:20] You guys have any ideas what we can do to celebrate one year. Let us know

[00:00:25] All right, let's go. Let's kick it off. We got

[00:00:28] Michigan we got on we got mission barbecue and little Caesars both hiring right now in

[00:00:35] Anticipation of them opening very very soon. We've been waiting a long long time for mission barbecue

[00:00:40] Guess we've been waiting alongside for see little Caesars, too

[00:00:46] But they are here they're gone they're back they're gone

[00:00:50] But mission barbecue has been in touch with us and we're gonna be

[00:00:53] Interviewing them in the near future or talking to them just about

[00:00:58] Their opening and stuff like that, but yeah, they're definitely hiring so get in touch with them

[00:01:02] Moving right along. It's a feel-good post. Huh? Yeah, why don't you do this one? It's

[00:01:07] Yes, somebody had a great experience over at CJ's CNJ's I guess it is

[00:01:13] Pearl Road cross from Little Drive in Holly and her husband Bill went for to the diner for lunch

[00:01:20] Last week

[00:01:21] Surfaces great and the food was great. I mean you go to most places the coffee is usually

[00:01:26] Bitter and she said it was amazing. It was so good. She had a couple cups right away

[00:01:32] But just thinking about the overall experience

[00:01:35] Loves a good diner place great food and great service. So shout out to CNJ's

[00:01:40] 2341 Pearl Road. Yeah, 200 209 reactions and 71 comments

[00:01:45] I don't remember seeing a negative one all positive about the food the gyros in particular a couple people said

[00:01:53] So I think I'll be checking that place out. Yeah, I have to check that out

[00:01:57] Brunswick City Schools was in the news this week too

[00:02:00] They have earned a distinguished purple star

[00:02:04] School designation award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce

[00:02:09] so this is a

[00:02:11] recognition of

[00:02:12] What the high school does in supporting military?

[00:02:16] affiliated students and families by providing

[00:02:19] Exceptional services and programs it says and addressing their unique

[00:02:23] academic and wellness needs so

[00:02:26] Congratulations to the high school

[00:02:28] For the purple star award supporting military families. Good job. Very nice. Very nice. Hey, did you see Rainforest Car Wash is closing?

[00:02:37] Stop it. Yeah and reopening as whistle express car wash

[00:02:43] So a giant chain of 120 car washes purchased Rainforest Car Wash

[00:02:49] All five of their locations and we'll reopen later this year as whistle express

[00:02:56] Whistle Express

[00:02:58] Didn't they just redo the front of it?

[00:03:01] Slightly yeah, but it says there's gonna be upgraded wash technology and new signage and will have

[00:03:09] Host a grand opening event. You know, I mean with a giant chain. I'm afraid we might lose

[00:03:14] We might lose some of those the Halloween thing that they did and some of the other cool stuff

[00:03:19] But we'll reach out to them and see what what special things they have for Brunswick in particular

[00:03:26] It's a show it's a Charlotte based company. So

[00:03:29] They've always been extremely supportive of the community

[00:03:32] So let's hope that continues with them the new name change and the new owner. So we'll see we'll see

[00:03:37] All right, what up moving right along? What else we got? We got

[00:03:41] Madonna County auditor Anthony Capretta posted in the group

[00:03:46] That with storm season upon us remember if you have structural property

[00:03:50] Damage or if you raise a building on your property, you may be eligible for a valuation deduction on your taxes

[00:03:57] so cheaper taxes if

[00:03:59] You unfortunately

[00:04:01] have

[00:04:02] fire other disaster or flooding or you have to tear down a property

[00:04:08] you can just call the auditor's office and

[00:04:12] Get some paperwork filled out to have your taxes reduced keep that in mind

[00:04:17] Hopefully it doesn't happen anybody but

[00:04:20] Was nice to join us in the group and let us know that true

[00:04:24] Yeah

[00:04:25] So speaking of hiring here's some more brother Gregg center is hiring for summer camp 2024

[00:04:32] So you go to their Facebook page and there's actually a QR code that you can just scan it right there

[00:04:38] Looking to add candidates who have experience in childcare as well as a history of positive leadership in the community

[00:04:44] With proven backgrounds in arts athletics and academics

[00:04:48] Mm-hmm. I think that higher at 16 for this I think so

[00:04:54] In contact Jamie over there with any questions just go to their Facebook page if you want to be part of that

[00:05:00] Yeah, somebody in the group did ask the question. I have a 15 and a half year old looking and

[00:05:05] The Brunswick rec center responded have them apply so oh nice good to know

[00:05:11] Something else going on with this the parks is they added 600 pounds of fish trout were stocked into Brunswick Lake

[00:05:21] North Park was a popular fishing spot

[00:05:24] So they're gonna be adding some more fish to Brunswick Lake this year to make that a little bit more well stocked

[00:05:33] 600 pounds

[00:05:35] Wow

[00:05:37] What you put this next one up here by the officers, what did you want to talk to about talk about this one here?

[00:05:42] So one of the group members posted

[00:05:44] I guess it was a police blotter about a

[00:05:48] Burglary on Laurel Road and the police blotter said that no arrests were made but the suspects and she asked why no arrests were made and

[00:05:56] Look at that the bronze the Brunswick Hills Police Chief came into the group and responded and

[00:06:02] Give factual information of why there were no arrests and made perfect sense after he explained it

[00:06:07] And you know, I just love when Brunswick and Brunswick Hills

[00:06:10] elected and hired officials come into the group and

[00:06:14] You know tell us what they're doing and why you know because it didn't make sense when we read it in the police blotter

[00:06:18] But when he said when he when he explained to the community. They're like, oh, yeah, that makes sense

[00:06:23] Yeah

[00:06:24] So we should never jump on some of those things right so oh

[00:06:28] Feel good post here we go niners

[00:06:32] Has started a pay-up forward of all so if you are hungry or have no money

[00:06:38] These meals have been paid for in advance. There's a wall right as you walk in and

[00:06:42] If you want to pay it forward, you can also add to it

[00:06:45] Just give your server the ticket and they'll prepare your meal

[00:06:48] So it'd be great if we get this out

[00:06:51] You know tell places that you know people that you know that that's available and somebody that may be in need

[00:06:58] I think that's a great

[00:07:00] Great thing and they did it at both locations, you know, they have a second location in Wadsworth now

[00:07:04] Yeah, so there they're up and running with this

[00:07:08] pay it forward while at both locations so

[00:07:12] That's off to Niners diner and a great

[00:07:15] That's a great project there. Yeah, and speaking of Niners diner. They now serve ignite beer ignite brewing company right here in Brunswick

[00:07:23] Yeah, so

[00:07:31] And speaking of ignite beer they're gonna have a

[00:07:37] League

[00:07:40] It's like Domino's this is back to back to back

[00:07:44] So on their beautiful outdoor patio, they're gonna have a cornhole tournament or not tournament league

[00:07:51] Weekly league so if you're in the cornhole, huh? Check that out

[00:07:55] Go to their Facebook page. There's probably info there, right?

[00:07:58] Yes

[00:08:00] Got it

[00:08:02] Brunswick City Schools would like to invite everybody

[00:08:05] On May 1st at 6 o'clock

[00:08:08] It's actually from 6 to 7 it says Brunswick High School Student Center for a construction update and a peek at the new

[00:08:16] High School design they are asking the RSVP so they know how many people are coming make sure the the room's big enough

[00:08:22] I guess that kind of stuff

[00:08:24] Again May 1st 6 o'clock

[00:08:27] VHS Student Center if you don't know where that is

[00:08:30] I think that's is it the center door center door as a yeah center door at the front of the building

[00:08:36] Yeah, so you can go check it out. You have questions about the new school. Looks like looks like to be tearing down

[00:08:42] Well, it's very soon they've put up the fence around the building. So I would imagine that starts probably next week. Yeah

[00:08:51] What do you do jump over the border with this one? Yeah in our lineup today

[00:08:57] Lucas went north of the border over into Strongsville because they're putting together a

[00:09:03] Town center how ironic?

[00:09:06] Call the same thing. Yeah, two more things in there. Look at that playground

[00:09:10] Yeah, they tore down they tore down that wooden playground. It was very memorable to

[00:09:15] To this generation and a little a little younger. We've all been there many many times

[00:09:21] With our kids or even ourselves

[00:09:24] But they tore it down and they're putting up what looks to be a pretty good playground

[00:09:28] That's an equivalent, but it's brand new and it's being put up by a Brunswick owned business

[00:09:34] So nice take that strong. They're also putting in a roundabout and a

[00:09:41] Pavilion in that area

[00:09:44] Some walking trails

[00:09:46] Lock going on over there. Yeah, I just thought I'd throw it out there because you know memories. Yeah, why not? Why not?

[00:09:53] Also this week Lucas and I launched the community trade project

[00:09:58] If you have a task that you need

[00:10:01] Helpless and you might have a skill or a service or talent that they you can barter backwards

[00:10:07] So you'll see the pin post at the top of the page

[00:10:10] Again, it's called the community trade project. So it's just a

[00:10:14] Location on the page where you can post that tell us what you need done and we'll see if we can get others to come back

[00:10:20] And help you with that accomplish that task. So I'm pretty excited about that

[00:10:24] Yeah, and we have Renee from Pete and Polly on the line here. Let's talk to her about her exciting news

[00:10:31] Welcome everybody

[00:10:33] We're in the middle of episode number 48 and we're taking a moment here to speak with Renee

[00:10:39] Garofalo from Pete and Polly who has

[00:10:42] Started the news, but we're gonna share some more details with you and let her announce it here on the podcast Renee

[00:10:49] Thanks for having me here

[00:10:51] We're super excited, you know nervous too, but super excited to say that yes

[00:10:56] We are finally growing anybody that's been in the shop knows that we've been busting at the seams for some time now

[00:11:01] And I was just kind of

[00:11:03] dragging my feet. I love where I'm at love this base love my neighbors

[00:11:06] But you know the community has spoken and we need to get bigger

[00:11:10] So we are off to 303 right next to the post office and couldn't be more excited

[00:11:15] Really how long have you been in business?

[00:11:18] The store has been here

[00:11:20] Upwards of 12 years. I have been at the helm for seven now

[00:11:26] Got it

[00:11:27] Got it. And what what are you most excited about moving to the new location?

[00:11:32] well

[00:11:34] Yeah, yeah first and foremost the space yes, absolutely

[00:11:38] But many will remember that we had a play area in our shop previously to me needing all the retail space

[00:11:46] I could get so

[00:11:49] Hint hint wink wink there is

[00:11:52] That's in the making again. We will have a little bit of room for some mom and

[00:11:58] Kiddos to hang out with us not just shop, but a little hangout area. So I might as well just put it out there

[00:12:04] It's we're looking at the cafe and play area at the back of peat and poly

[00:12:09] So just a little place where moms can bring their coffee and the kiddos can play

[00:12:15] Renee for those people that had never been there. Can you tell us a little about the shop?

[00:12:19] Sure, we are a children's resale shop. So we buy outright

[00:12:25] In our industry we would call it BOR

[00:12:27] Instead of consignment so that basically just means that you can bring your used children's items in and we will give you a cash

[00:12:35] Offer upfront for any items that we can choose to enter into our system and resell

[00:12:39] So you don't wait, you know until it's sold and then get your money

[00:12:42] We give you money up front and or we'll offer you store credit

[00:12:46] That sounds awesome, and then we have we carry everything that's children

[00:12:49] I mean the only thing I don't resell is car seats, but

[00:12:53] Pretty much anything else from infant to teen tween were we have it well toys toys and more toys

[00:13:01] So no need for anyone to pay full price if they've got another one on the way or even if they're first

[00:13:08] Stop in and they should see you. Absolutely. It's becoming more and more

[00:13:13] socially correct to

[00:13:16] Resale to buy a resell shops too

[00:13:18] So a lot of moms will come in and they'll actually ask people for their shower

[00:13:21] You know to get gift cards to peep poly we do offer those

[00:13:24] So, you know if the mom says she's she likes resale then you know why not buy your gift cards?

[00:13:30] You can get more for your money

[00:13:31] Plus it's a great way to make some money as your children out go their clothes

[00:13:35] Right. It's kind of like a big revolving closet if you think of it that way

[00:13:38] Especially if they do the store credit option

[00:13:40] You know they get they get some money for that you know and they get more and it just keeps on going like a big

[00:13:46] revolving closet as your children grow

[00:13:48] Great. What's um, what is your timeline kind of looking like for your move? What can we expect this summer?

[00:13:55] We're I'm excited because we want to participate in the parade this year

[00:13:58] And it looks like we will be over there by then and the parade route

[00:14:03] Well, not only will we be in it, but the parade route will go right by our new location and we couldn't yeah

[00:14:08] We're just really excited about that

[00:14:10] Is there anything else that you'd like to share with us about peep poly and your future or anything else about the store?

[00:14:18] I'm trying to think you know we

[00:14:21] We just like what we do. I mean, I love what I do is more like it

[00:14:25] I love all the families the community that we have here in Brunswick

[00:14:30] Just the honesty. I mean I couldn't tell you how many times I've just been

[00:14:34] You know overwhelmed with joy when I see just honesty, you know in business sometimes things are

[00:14:39] Upside down and in our community. It's just not that way and we've been welcomed into our community

[00:14:44] We hope that they feel welcome by us and

[00:14:46] Yeah, come see us

[00:14:48] Thanks for a I really appreciate you talking with us today and learning about your business and your future move to 303

[00:14:54] And wish you continued success

[00:14:57] Thank you. Yeah, stay tuned for a oh the details unravel will be

[00:15:00] Putting them out there, but it's all coming into place. So we're excited awesome. Thank you so much. Thank you

[00:15:08] Wow, that's exciting

[00:15:09] That is I'm so happy for her that is seven years

[00:15:13] She's been like she said at the helm and so

[00:15:16] Busted at the seams over there. I was in there recently and that's that's exciting good news

[00:15:20] She'll be able to spread out and serve the community even better much bigger location right there on 303 in the heart of it

[00:15:26] Oh, yeah, it's right

[00:15:28] Next to the post office, right? Right right and munchins

[00:15:31] What is it munchkins closet and Strong's will closed and

[00:15:34] Everybody's trying to save some money and everybody's trying to make a couple extra bucks. So, you know

[00:15:39] So I have to tell you behind the scenes

[00:15:43] News here that she said, you know, she considered moving out of Brownswick, you know

[00:15:47] Maybe even a munchkins location, you know because that space would be available

[00:15:50] But she said her heart and her love is really for the bronzo community

[00:15:54] So I'm sure bronzo is gonna embrace her and show her the love back

[00:15:58] I think it's great that she decided to stay here agreed and

[00:16:01] Roger left us a message again about a adoptable dog. Let's take a listen. Yeah

[00:16:07] Hey guys, it's Roger from Hounds town just checking in with our weekly update

[00:16:11] We're excited to announce this week. We have Batman in the house. So holy Batman

[00:16:16] If you head to our Facebook page, just look up Hounds town Cleveland, Brunswick

[00:16:21] You'll find that in see some more information on Batman

[00:16:24] But he's a five and a half year old pit terrier mix

[00:16:27] Truly has been wonderful since he came in and is good around all of the other dogs staff

[00:16:32] Is just a people person

[00:16:34] So I would highly encourage anybody who may have an interest in adopting him to reach out to us here at Hounds town

[00:16:40] Our numbers 3 3 0 4 6 0 3 0 5 2 we'd love to have you come in and do a meet and great and see if it's a good fit

[00:16:47] Also, feel free to let anybody else, you know

[00:16:51] That might be interested. I know about Batman being with us

[00:16:55] Also, just keep in mind

[00:16:57] If you do have other dogs that you are interested in daycare or boarding need boarding for over the summer or anything like that

[00:17:03] Reach out to us as well

[00:17:04] We give you a free day of doggy daycare to come in and check us out and lastly if Batman isn't for you

[00:17:09] But you might be looking to adopt a dog or a cat

[00:17:12] Brea animal rescue is who we are working conjunction with for all of these rescues

[00:17:17] Go to their website just look them up again Brea animal rescue and you'll see all the dogs and cats that are up for adoption there as well

[00:17:23] So hope everybody has a great weekend and hopefully we get Batman adopted out very soon. Have a great week. Talk to you. I

[00:17:32] Guess let's go right into it. We got a few events to talk about this week, right things to do in the 2 1 2 and beyond

[00:17:41] Yeah, a little bit beyond

[00:17:43] So this Sunday is foster families for free when there's been a pop-up

[00:17:49] Resale children's resale thing over at the old save a lot and from 3 30 to 5 on Sunday

[00:17:56] Foster families can come in and shop for free. I think that is just an amazing thing

[00:18:05] As a mother of an adopted child, I just that's there's a special place in heaven for foster families

[00:18:12] Let me tell you so

[00:18:13] If you are foster family and need some assistance go and see them 3 30 to 5 this Sunday

[00:18:19] And then right across the border. What do we got?

[00:18:25] Right across the border we have

[00:18:29] Right across the border we have are you gonna giggle every time?

[00:18:33] Yes

[00:18:37] Right across that's what we need to go back to doing this in person because then we can see each other and that's talk over each other

[00:18:43] Well, see I know I can edit it out. We just start over. Yeah, that's true

[00:18:47] But that's more work for you though. All right, go on. All right, all right

[00:18:51] Yeah, right across the border we have

[00:18:54] Cousins made lobster making yet another appearance at this time at tractor supply company in Columbia station

[00:19:01] That's right on Royalton Road

[00:19:03] Just down 82. We know they were just here Thursday, right? Yeah, and they were just yeah

[00:19:08] They were just in Brunswick on Thursday and they were just

[00:19:12] At

[00:19:13] Tractor supply, I think a week ago. So they

[00:19:17] Most really love this area this area must really love them

[00:19:20] So they must shut down for the day drive to Maine get the lobster and then immediately drive back

[00:19:25] because

[00:19:28] Shut up shut up right next day

[00:19:30] So mark your calendar for the next shredding event

[00:19:34] Everyone's small we get this question asked in the group

[00:19:37] La Faso real estate services is providing that in the back of St. Ambrose

[00:19:42] Church parking lot on Saturday May 4th rain or shine from 10 to 2

[00:19:47] So again, that's a shredding event Saturday May 4th St. Ambrose back to the parking lot

[00:19:54] Compliments of La Faso real estate services from 10 to 2 that day

[00:19:59] And that's completely free you can limit it's limited to three banker sized boxes

[00:20:04] Per vehicle they are accepting donations of food bank items for Catholic works

[00:20:09] You can drop off peanut butter and jelly canned vegetables box pasta tuna fish pork and beans mac and cheese and bars of soap

[00:20:16] Are the most needed items as you're going through that shredding event

[00:20:19] So consider that as well we get a midsummer night dream at the performing arts center at the Brunswick high school

[00:20:25] That's Friday April 19th tonight and tomorrow

[00:20:28] April 20th at 2 and 7 p.m

[00:20:31] You get your tickets on the Brunswick City Schools athletic website or scan the QR code on the screen

[00:20:38] I don't think i've ever seen that one. No, I have not either

[00:20:40] No, all right. I love your interesting spelling that you put on our little list here charcuterie

[00:20:48] class at

[00:20:50] Granted Bean so finest cravings is going to be hosting a

[00:20:54] charcuterie

[00:20:55] Class oh my gosh. I have to say that's so slow

[00:20:58] April 27th

[00:21:00] It is only 45 dollars a ticket and that's amazing because you get

[00:21:05] A beverage of your choice beer or wine or if you want a soft drink or whatever else they have there. I'm sure

[00:21:11] Um, and you get a locally handmade charcuterie board for you to keep

[00:21:17] So the class is being guided by Emily

[00:21:19] Um

[00:21:21] and

[00:21:21] Cheyenne so if you want to sign up for that go to their facebook page
