Lucas Merkel & Kimberlee Nagy Bublik

[00:00:12] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly. Hey, it's us. Here we are. We're live. Right now. It's us. But I didn't go to the green room and do my hair or anything. Got our old microphones back. We're gonna give it a try.

[00:00:41] My nerdiness, powers to Wi-Fi connect something to something. Wow. So we look legit? Yeah. Well, we gotta get that audio. Probably hear everything. Try that next week. Baby step. Two and a half years and we're doing some baby steps. Baby steps? Wait a minute. Ah. Then again, you just woke up five minutes ago, so.

[00:01:10] Let's get into it. Oh my goodness. What do we got? Go ahead. We got this peacock that is being sighted every day all over the place, starting, what, maybe three or four days ago? Yeah, a couple of years ago. So it flew the coop. Technically, there is no coop. Correct. It was just a free bird. Oh gosh. Double down on that. Oh, they're getting worse.

[00:01:38] So the owner says that the peacock lived in Valley City? Columbia Station. Columbia Station, which is quite a distance. His best friends. His best friends were turkeys. Wild turkeys. And the turkeys left. Right. So. Yeah, because she wasn't caging any of these animals. Right. It was just a live on here. So he, who is named Kevin. Kevin. Appropriately. Mm-hmm. Um. Is out looking for his.

[00:02:08] Mm-hmm. He said she's tried to catch him, but they can fly, of course. Yeah. So. There he is. Yeah. Living his best life. Well, hopefully he stays in Brunswick because this is kind of fun. It's almost as fun as when the giant balls around the Brunswick Christmas tree got loose and people were sighting them all around town. Exactly. Exactly. Good stuff. So. All right, Kevin. We see you. Yeah. Moving right along. I got a bunch of lined up food posts because.

[00:02:37] I guess I'm hungry. It's dinner time. I might be. Right? Yeah. We got the wooden nickel has this. Wagyu burger. Topped with jerk seasoning, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and fresh pineapple salsa. Available all month long. Delicious. There are many times in that. Fancy beef. Is it? Yeah. You don't know, do you?

[00:03:07] You're just making it up. No, it's fancy beef. Ah. We need a chef to tell. My gosh, more? Yeah. It's a whole food thing. Food section right now. We'll get into some good stuff. All right. What? Buy chocolate waffle. Captain Forked, who announced, by the way, they're closed on Mondays. Right. So don't try and go there on Monday. Right. As of most places. Monday.

[00:03:37] They've come out with a Dubai chocolate waffle. It was supposed to be a special, but you guys loved it so much that they've given it a permanent spot on the menu. Yeah. So if you haven't tried it yet, go try it. If you have tried it, let us know your thoughts. Mm-hmm. They're moving right along over there. Good stuff. Yeah. Every picture that they put out is awesome. All the reviews have been fantastic so far. Yeah.

[00:04:06] Yay on them. Nico's Gyro to Go in Brunswick is not just Gyros. They also have pizza, and this one caught my attention. Made with marinara sauce, hot Italian sausage, fresh banana peppers, and melted mozzarella cheese. Spicy, cheesy, packed with flavor. Look at that. I do like spicy. That kind of thing. Never get past that.

[00:04:37] Yeah. Well, they've got a pretty good menu. It's not just Gyros. Right. They have salads, too. Speaking of... Okay. All right. What else? Kale matcha. Yeah. Matcha. They said, if you're a first-timer and are not familiar with Indian food, you should start with their Indo-Chinese fried rice. Clear enough to be approachable, but packed with the bold flavors that make Indian food so special.

[00:05:07] Perfect gateway dish before you dive into the restaurant. Mmm. Butter chicken. Briani chicken. Start with their fried rice. Everybody knows fried rice, right? Mm-hmm. They're flavoring is different. The seasoning is different. Probably. They're probably in their fried rice because I don't get it, but probably some jasmine in it.

[00:05:33] And the last time I was there, I got these triangles and they were veggie... Not a spring roll, not a veggie roll, but they were triangles. Mm-hmm. And they were... Yeah. Delicious. Yeah. I've had those, but I don't remember what they're called either. Yeah, those are really good too. Yeah, those are really good too. Nikki, remind me and tell me what they're called because they were really, really good. All right. This is a sad and happy one, right? I know.

[00:06:03] We're going to have to... We need to count down. We haven't done it yet. But do we count down to the closing or count down to the reopening or count down to both? Both. You have to do both. Both. So Donutland came out with their big announcement this past week and said that June 7th will be their last day. Mm-hmm. And at the B3 meeting last night, she said if any of the B3 members wanted to come up

[00:06:29] in direct traffic or help behind the counter or whatever, because they're anticipating it being a little crazy that day. So June 7th will be their last day. They will close as soon as they sell out and be closed for about two weeks. Samosas is what they're called. Somebody put it in the comments. Oh, perfect. Thank you. Yeah. Try the samosas. All right.

[00:06:58] They will be closed for about two weeks and then they'll reopen with production facilities in place over at the new location on 303. And just keep in mind though that it's a two-phase project. So not everything will be done, but the most important thing about getting the donuts back up and running will be ready in about two weeks. We'll be watching that closely. Yeah. I mean room in my freezer. So I have room for six apple fritters and three dozen donuts.

[00:07:28] So I'll be okay. I wonder if they freeze well. They freeze well. Do they? Oh, you've done this before. Yeah. I'm not kidding. Well, Mondays are closed again and that's like a thing of yours. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know how many times I've. I think I tagged you on that. I was like. Remember the date? Six, seven. Six, seven. Six, seven. Six, seven. And they're going to be opening up a new store too so you can buy some merch. That's exciting. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Rumor has it six, seven maybe on it. Donutland.

[00:07:58] We got a couple, but. You want that orange one. I want that orange. All right. Here's some other interesting news. Speaking of munchies. Yeah. Brunswick Hills has considered plans for a cannabis dispensary on Pearl Road. So Brunswick has a moratorium on cannabis dispensaries, grow places. Brunswick Hills does not.

[00:08:23] A company, Rise something or something, has many locations of the mile, has come to Brunswick Hills and said, Hey, we'd like to build a dispensary on Pearl Road right where Rico's Bar and Grill is and Sleepy Hollow Market. And trustees are considering it. Not replacing it. That location. Next to it, I think down the street. Okay. A little bit. All right.

[00:08:53] And obviously the revenue has to be considered. Mm-hmm. You know what I mean? It has to be. I don't know what the numbers look like. Estimates are. Like 400, I think. Yeah. 250,000 to 500,000. Yeah. Per year. To the township. To the township. Which is huge. You guys could build a splash. You could put cash. If you saved up four years, you could do cash down on a splash pad. I'd rather have a couple more police officers or a couple more firemen. That'd be nice too. A couple more firemen.

[00:09:23] Yeah. A couple more police officers. You guys could have more firemen on call than the city. Okay. With just having a dispensary. So, you know, there was comments for it. There was comments against it. They are all over the place. All over the place. You know, some people said there'd be more crime. I'm not sure what kind of crime would be. Some people said, yeah, it's a long time coming. The Brunswick Hills could use those funds.

[00:09:52] Yeah. And trustee Ryan Nixon addressed it. He's very transparent on social media. We appreciate that. Love that. Love that. So, you know, he said it directly and gave facts instead of, you know, speculations and stuff like that. Yeah. So they're having a, you know, they're having their regular meeting next Tuesday. I think it's at seven. If I remember correctly. And I think I'm going to go live on Facebook and watch it with everybody.

[00:10:22] Oh, right. Yeah. No, I'm going to do it from home. Can I bring popcorn? Yeah. Yeah. If you want to come watch it together with me, we can, we can comment. Oh, you're going to do it from home. Yeah. Yeah. Live streaming from home. Okay. Yeah. But if, if you don't want to watch it with me, you can always watch it on Brunswick Area Televin TV line or spectrum freeze line cable channel. But it'd be a good conversation.

[00:10:51] If you have a interest in talking about it or letting them know your thoughts. Mm-hmm. Stop up there. And ride along. Speaking of Brunswick Hills. Speaking of Brunswick Hills. The ever popular Junior Fire Academy is back again this year. It will be Thursday, June 25th. Um, from 9am to 3pm. So all day long.

[00:11:17] Participants, um, learn basic firefighting, uh, techniques, hands on CPR and basic first aid skills. Um, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Uh, that's for ages 12 to 18. So if you have a, um, youngster that might be interested in fire, being a fireman or seeing what it's all about, um, it's a great introduction kind of thing. You do have to register ahead of time.

[00:11:45] And again, that's for ages 12 to 18. Yeah. It's a very popular event and free. It is free. Yeah. Yep. Awesome. All right. Now let's get into things to do in the 2-1-2. You'll notice that we've kind of done the posts and now we've done the events just like, just like we used to. You are getting into it. I'm telling you. All right. We got the, uh, Cavs playing. They lost, uh, their first game. They have their second game tomorrow night at 7pm.

[00:12:13] And, uh, the only watch party I've seen so far, I'm sure there's going to be other ones is over at hot shots. Uh, they got some pretty awesome deals. Uh, they got a wine and gold shot, a fireball shot, a Cavaliers crush shot all for $4. They got, uh, the land margarita for $5, domestic macho mugs for $5, $9, one topping pizza and $5 nachos. And if the Cavs win, they're going to do dollar hot shot tacos the next day on Friday. Wow.

[00:12:43] And I do know we don't have a slide for this, but key profits put all their Cavs stuff on sale 25 to 50. Wow. 50% off. I could definitely use another, uh, girder. Not 250. No, no. Up to, up to 50. I know you're already thinking if it's free, it's for me. You're going to walk in there and be like, give me a free shirt. I always check out the clearance table first over there. Yeah, exactly. Uh, all right. What's next?

[00:13:14] Plant Bingo. Oh, Plant Bingo. Gift Mill Run over at Market 42 is coming back. They did, this is their second or third one, I think. Um, over at Market 42 tomorrow night from seven to nine. Um, $20 per person includes, uh, one mini plant and six games of plant themed bingo.

[00:13:37] Um, so please register, go to the website, giftmillrun.com under the workshop tabs and, uh, get your tickets for that. And, uh, Friday night over from six to 9pm at McGinty's pub at Market 42. Uh, Charles Gile playing free. Stop in, you can have food, you can drink some McGinty's and, uh, just keeping Friday night, six to nine, uh, live music.

[00:14:07] Like, lots of live music. And, uh, all right. All right. Also live at Amy's Arbors. Friday from six to nine. And that is going to be, yeah. Oh my gosh. I love it. Where is it? Uh, Clyde Allen Hensley. Clyde Allen Hensley. Right. Three name rule. Um, again, Amy's Arbors is nine Friday. Uh, Saturday, six to 9pm.

[00:14:36] Dom Nice is over at Bianca's Italian restaurant. Bye bye. Enjoy that. What'd you say? I said nice. Sometimes I say no che. It's no che. No che. It has to be. It's an Italian restaurant. No che. No che. Okay. Let us know if we're saying it wrong. Who knows? Oh, oh my goodness. Willow Lake Park is going to have something fun on Saturday. It looks like they're called Four Locos. Good band. Yeah.

[00:15:04] I've seen them, uh, seen them play. Wow. All over with the bands. So check them out from seven to 11 on Saturday at Willow Lake Park. There is an admission to get in. I think it's only. Super reasonable to get into the park. So go early and, um, enjoy the park. Yeah. I don't know what the weather is supposed to be, but they have a, some people call it a pond. Some people call it a pool. It's a chlorinated lake that has concrete bottom.

[00:15:33] It has fish in it. And it has. Yeah. So, you know, call it what you want, but it's not a, not a pond, not a pool. It's a great place though. It is. It is. I don't know if the weather's going to agree or go swimming, but definitely to hear a band, I think we could. So again, Saturday at seven o'clock, Willow Lake Park. Uh, St. Ambrose is having a bike blessing.

[00:16:03] Saturday, 23rd. Um, you can RSVP using the St. Ambrose website, click on events and find the blessing of the bikes. Um, they're also going to have a breakfast mother Teresa room. It starts at 10 AM followed by a ride optional. Oh, right. Bike. And, uh, plus there's so many accidents. So really you had to go. I mean, I mean, I think everyone gets so excited. Yeah.

[00:16:32] They get on their bikes, but that not saying it's their fault. Yeah. I don't want to. There was a, there was a bad one the other night. There was a bad one. Yeah. So watch for bikes and bikers. Uh, be safe. Pretty sad. All right. Next up. It helps. It's so hard to find. All right.

[00:17:02] Time warp band. Yeah. Sunday. Don't forget it's a holiday. Most of you don't have to work on Monday. So go out and see the time warp band Sunday at seven. And I'm guessing that's Willow Lake. It is. Oh, okay. Yeah. I'm guessing that address is Willow Lake. Looky there. Looky there. Oh, I don't know about that, but. Oh.

[00:17:32] You just had to go there, didn't you? Yeah. Lobster truck is coming back to Brunswick. So stop on over to that place next to Hoffman's. The one that took over Honey Hut. Yeah. The one that took over Honey Hut. That's it. Uh, anyway, they'll be there Monday on Memorial Day from one to seven. So if you don't want to barbecue out, we're getting, I'm going to get another email. I know I am.

[00:17:57] Um, if you don't want to barbecue out, stop in, uh, between one and seven cousins main lobster truck, use their app because you get rewards. Mm-hmm. So you can get like a free bisque, lobster bisque or free. They sell whoopie pies. If you like whoopie pies, you can do that. Um, Monday one to seven. Nice. What are you guys doing for? Uh, no, I don't think we have any plans. Okay. Okay with that. Yeah. Right.

[00:18:25] Uh, uh, shell. Yeah. Is having another boozy bingo at market 42. This is Tuesday at 6 30 PM. Um, it is not your grandma's bingo, but, uh, you probably already know that it's high energy music filled game night packed with a fast paced rounds. Lots of prizes. It's $7 to play $10 at the door. Seating is first come first served, uh, arrived by 6 30 PM and balls drop at 7. PM. You can still go there.

[00:18:54] I mean, it says $10 at the door, but yeah, I think you probably not participating. You can still go. Yeah. $10 probably shouldn't be at the door. It's like $10 when you get probably, you know what I mean? Yeah. All right. Speaking of sheets. Yeah. Bring your papers up to community shred day. That's going to be Saturday, the 30th at Brunswick city hall from nine to 12.

[00:19:23] Uh, there's a limit on how many boxes. Um, I mean five boxes of documents, no open top boxes. They have to be like the bank boxes and it is for Brunswick city of Brunswick residents. I think they do ID. Um, if you have any old tax returns or credit card statements or anything that you need shredded, sometimes it's a pain doing it at home and the little machine. Thank you for you again.

[00:19:52] That's going to be Saturday, May 30th from nine. Yeah. And, uh, they'll also be accepting cash donations. That's for their upcoming trike and bike event that they hold each year at the Brunswick high school track. Um, and those donations will benefit pediatric cancer research at the Cleveland clinic, children's hospital. So, just shred on. Mm. Mm. Is that it? Is that it?

[00:20:22] Why are these going faster when we do them a lot? Are they shorter? Because there's no redo. No, that's true. We don't stop. Whatever we say. Whatever we say. It's live forever online. Yeah. And they haven't shut us down yet. So, knock on wood. I think we're okay. Pretty good. And that's episode number 44. All right. Brunswick, that's going to do it. We want to hear from you though.

[00:20:49] If there's something that you want to talk about, um, leave us a voicemail, bronzwickgrouptherapy.com lower right hand corner. You'll see a microphone. Just click on that. And, uh, you can redo yours. We have to do ours live now, but you can redo that recording if you want, but leave us a message. Let us know what you want to talk about. And until next, see you guys later. Take care of Brunswick. Bye.
