[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.

[00:00:09] Alright, what is this? Episode number 77?

[00:00:12] Yeah. Lose it right along. Here we go. Lots of good stuff. Kick us off. I know you're feeling a little under the weather, but pull yourself together. Come on.

[00:00:22] Group of local golfers is making history. Brunswick student Ellie is heading to the national championship in New Mexico with other local female golfers.

[00:00:31] This is the first time ever an all-girl team has made it this far.

[00:00:35] World power. Good job, ladies.

[00:00:38] It's pretty remarkable. Best of luck to them.

[00:00:41] Wow. That's awesome.

[00:00:43] Oh, that's an awesome note. Project Learn made an announcement that they are going to be closing their Brunswick location, much to the chagrin of quite a few people actually in the group.

[00:00:53] They asked us if we could help do anything about that. I don't know that we could do that, but I just know that retail space is through the roof pricing.

[00:01:01] So hopefully they reached out to the city, Grant, and Economic Development, and maybe they can help them with something.

[00:01:07] Yeah. They said that they weren't covering costs. And you know, I don't think too many people knew that it was there.

[00:01:11] I certainly didn't know that they were teaching English to immigrants to help people read as one of the other things that they offered.

[00:01:19] So it'll be a sad loss to the community.

[00:01:22] Yeah, it is very sad. So we'll see what happens with that. Stay tuned.

[00:01:26] But it just appears that just can't afford that space anymore.

[00:01:28] So, um, space. See, don't you like how I transition all these? I try at least to transition them.

[00:01:35] So somebody need a bigger space. So Mars cars is sign is up and it is like official, official.

[00:01:42] He says looking great. That's a really nice sign.

[00:01:45] Yeah. That whole plans has got a whole, whole slew of good looking signs there.

[00:01:50] Yeah. There step. It's the Pearl road thing, right?

[00:01:54] Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

[00:01:55] Yeah. Making a come up.

[00:01:57] So, congratulations again to Mars and his bigger and better place.

[00:02:02] Yeah. And I haven't noticed a sign yet, but the bakery at Mapleside has officially launched their Facebook page.

[00:02:09] So you can find them separate from Mapleside on their Facebook page called The Bakery at Mapleside.

[00:02:15] Um, so if you follow them, you can see some delicious pictures of their food.

[00:02:20] Earlier this week, I saw a pumpkin pie and there was a peach pinwheel tart.

[00:02:25] Boy, that looked good.

[00:02:26] Yeah. Yeah. Lots of good stuff.

[00:02:28] So I'm kind of sad that they got rid of their evening hours now that the fall festivals are over.

[00:02:32] So that's really when I found myself going.

[00:02:35] So, um, yeah, but that's okay.

[00:02:38] I mean, you just have to do it Saturday or Sunday now.

[00:02:40] So, or get up extra early and go, I guess.

[00:02:43] Um, but good stuff.

[00:02:45] And, uh, my waistline is probably grateful that they don't have those evening hours anymore.

[00:02:50] So that's okay. We'll figure it out.

[00:02:52] And also speaking of the bakery at Mapleside, they're offering Thanksgiving meals in partnership with the Taste of Excellence.

[00:02:58] So, uh, you pick up from the bakery on Wednesday, the 27th between two and seven.

[00:03:04] So check out either at Taste of Excellence Catering or, uh, the bakery at Mapleside Facebook pages, and you can, um, just be done.

[00:03:12] I mean, let's see, it says available in four or 10 person bundles.

[00:03:16] Yeah. $120 for four people and that menu looks phenomenal.

[00:03:20] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:03:21] I'm not going to try and read it though.

[00:03:22] Cause last time we tried to read a menu, it just didn't go well.

[00:03:25] So, although these look pretty simple to, uh, but anyway, if you guys are interested and don't really cook in this year, check them out.

[00:03:34] 120 bucks for four people, two 50 for 10.

[00:03:37] That's a great deal. Wow.

[00:03:38] Yeah.

[00:03:39] Um, their meals are just Taste of Excellence is an excellent catering company.

[00:03:43] No, couldn't find another adjective evidently besides excellent.

[00:03:46] But if you've never had their food, it is very, very good.

[00:03:50] And you get your choice.

[00:03:52] Oh, it says apple, pecan and cranberry.

[00:03:53] I thought that meant pie, but it's a salad.

[00:03:55] So, um, they just throw a pie in there.

[00:03:58] Who do we talk to about that?

[00:04:00] You have to pay extra for the pie.

[00:04:02] All right.

[00:04:03] What else we got?

[00:04:04] Uh, this Brunswick Hills thing.

[00:04:07] There was a, uh, gentleman that came onto somebody's property and said that they needed to look at the, uh, oil well on behalf of the township trustees.

[00:04:15] That's creepy.

[00:04:16] Turns out that the township trustees didn't have anything to do with it.

[00:04:19] And, uh, they put out a little warning and said, Hey, this is, uh, this was not us.

[00:04:23] If you had somebody approach you on your land, uh, call the police.

[00:04:26] I wonder if they found out who it was.

[00:04:27] I don't know.

[00:04:28] Just be careful, you guys.

[00:04:29] Um, uh, here we go.

[00:04:32] Here we go.

[00:04:33] It's calendar time.

[00:04:34] It's, I don't know.

[00:04:35] Got lots of them.

[00:04:37] Kicking it off with the Rosati's frozen custard calendar for November.

[00:04:40] And everybody, there was some chatter about Watergate.

[00:04:43] Do you, did you, what is that one about?

[00:04:45] It's the pistachio one.

[00:04:47] You know, I love Donut Land's pistachio.

[00:04:49] Oh, gosh.

[00:04:51] Combine that with your pistachio Donut Land.

[00:04:54] Right.

[00:04:55] So November 21st, pistachio frozen custard, marshmallow, pineapple, and pecans.

[00:05:01] Did you, did you put that on your calendar?

[00:05:03] It's in my calendar.

[00:05:05] It's on the, it's on the wall.

[00:05:06] Like, on the wall calendar.

[00:05:06] No, like on the wall calendar.

[00:05:08] It's there.

[00:05:09] Oh my goodness.

[00:05:11] I don't know.

[00:05:11] I guess maybe I still do sea salt caramel, but that's, oh, that's this weekend.

[00:05:16] Yeah.

[00:05:16] Mud pie looks good.

[00:05:17] That's, uh.

[00:05:18] Better get on it.

[00:05:19] There's some good ones.

[00:05:20] Vanilla, peanut butter, chocolate chip.

[00:05:21] Okay.

[00:05:22] Okay.

[00:05:23] Maybe we'll try it out.

[00:05:25] More calendars.

[00:05:26] More calendars.

[00:05:27] We got, uh, the Wooden Nickel put out their November calendar.

[00:05:30] They have quizzered trivia every Tuesday.

[00:05:32] Bingo on Wednesdays.

[00:05:34] There could be closed Thanksgiving.

[00:05:35] And then they have, uh, daily specials with, uh, a Wednesday wing night to buck a wing.

[00:05:40] 12 for 12.

[00:05:41] And, uh, some other great deals for them.

[00:05:43] Good food.

[00:05:43] Good food.

[00:05:45] Good food.

[00:05:45] Uh, calendar also out for the red onion.

[00:05:47] Lots of things going on.

[00:05:49] Uh, monthly drawing.

[00:05:50] Boozy bingo.

[00:05:52] Which, that sometimes sells out.

[00:05:54] So that must be a good time.

[00:05:55] New Year pork roast dinner on January 5th.

[00:05:58] And just a lot of things that go on right into, uh, January with some of these things.

[00:06:03] Mm-hmm.

[00:06:04] Check out their Facebook page.

[00:06:05] They also have daily specials.

[00:06:07] Taco Tuesdays.

[00:06:08] Sloppy Joes on Wednesday.

[00:06:09] Spaghetti Thursday.

[00:06:11] Spaghetti.

[00:06:11] Oh.

[00:06:13] groggy Friday.

[00:06:14] Just some of the things, uh, open mic night with Ken Uram.

[00:06:18] Psychic readings.

[00:06:19] Oh my gosh.

[00:06:19] A lot going on over there.

[00:06:21] So check them out, red onion.

[00:06:22] And the shining lights group over at St. Mark is, um, collecting donations for men's

[00:06:29] homeless ministry shelters, providing warmth to the homeless.

[00:06:33] They're collecting it now through December 1st and they're looking for new socks and underwear,

[00:06:37] gently used men's clothing and winter coats, gently used backpacks, blankets, sheets, and bath towels.

[00:06:42] So if you're able to assist, you can drop that off at St. Mark's Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 930 to 230.

[00:06:47] And, uh, they would be most appreciative.

[00:06:49] Or bring you to church on Sunday.

[00:06:50] Could do that too.

[00:06:52] All right.

[00:06:53] Oh my gosh.

[00:06:53] This, this kid is just amazing.

[00:06:55] He is doing great things.

[00:06:57] Jackson.

[00:06:57] Jackson is the son of Adam Franzi from range 42, who some of you may know, and he's doing

[00:07:05] great things in the scouting program.

[00:07:07] Part of his Eagle Scout project is stands like installation of flagpoles, bases, and they have engraved name plates on them.

[00:07:14] So you can make a $20 donation to honor a veteran, which I did for my dad.

[00:07:19] There will be one on the army one.

[00:07:21] I think you can choose your display location, city hall, Brunswick high school.

[00:07:26] Um, his project will serve as a lasting reminder of the sacrifice.

[00:07:29] It says of in service of local veterans while inspiring future generations of students.

[00:07:35] So Jackson is just about a good kid.

[00:07:38] I think he's all over the place.

[00:07:39] He's involved in everything.

[00:07:40] Superintendent of the schools, Jason Niedermeyer said Jackson exemplifies the values we strive to instill in all of our students.

[00:07:46] So he's a fabulous role model.

[00:07:48] I'm saying that.

[00:07:49] So if you're interested in that, reach out to Jackson at Jackson P Franzi at gmail.com or his mom Chantal at C Clark 43 at hotmail.com.

[00:08:00] Perfect.

[00:08:01] That's awesome.

[00:08:02] Great.

[00:08:02] Um, yeah.

[00:08:03] And just another side note, and this wasn't in the script, so I'm going to throw Lucas from a loop probably, but the wreaths for the cemetery that the young lady does, Izzy does those every year.

[00:08:15] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:16] They oversold.

[00:08:17] Like they're going to be supplying wreaths for other cemeteries that are shorted.

[00:08:21] So great job Brunswick.

[00:08:23] Sold out before December the first.

[00:08:25] Wow.

[00:08:25] And, um, I know Donna and Izzy are extremely grateful for, for the support that the community has given them.

[00:08:32] So if you're interested in helping them lay the wreaths, just reach out to, just reach out to me and I'll put you in touch with Donna.

[00:08:39] I don't have her contact information in front of me, so, but we'll share that too.

[00:08:42] As, uh, time gets closer, we'll share that information.

[00:08:45] So, next thing, uh, shouted it from the mountaintops.

[00:08:48] I did, I did, I did.

[00:08:50] Yeah, this should have been near the top of the page.

[00:08:52] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:53] On top of the order.

[00:08:55] Right?

[00:08:55] Great Scott Bakery opened up earlier today.

[00:08:57] After a long time.

[00:08:58] It's a little bit of a personal to have him back, been going at it.

[00:09:01] And, uh, if you stop by there, you'll also notice there's a balloon, some columns outside, and that's, uh, by Balloon Pops by Shelly, local balloon artist that also did the cancer balloon display over at Human Beans.

[00:09:14] And so she's gonna do one for Scott as a gift for his opening back up.

[00:09:18] Very cool.

[00:09:19] Missed that place.

[00:09:19] Glad it reopened and, uh, Scott's back at it.

[00:09:22] Uh, here's a message from Brunswick United Methodist Church about the Blessing Box.

[00:09:26] They're saying it's being used weekly, and, uh, at this time they're only stocking the box with the following.

[00:09:31] Personal Hygiene and Toiletry Products.

[00:09:33] Cleaning Supplies.

[00:09:34] Laundry Detergent.

[00:09:35] Paper Products.

[00:09:36] Diapers.

[00:09:36] And Formula.

[00:09:37] There will continue to be an ongoing need, so please consider donating items every month.

[00:09:41] Please do not leave food items in the box.

[00:09:43] Although the Blessing Box is ventilated, they're concerned about food going bad in the heat and the cold.

[00:09:47] And if you want to make a donation, you can drop them off during office hours Monday through Thursday 9 to 4, and Fridays 9 to noon.

[00:09:53] I'm glad there's that resource as well as the other boxes, uh, and that they're being utilized.

[00:09:57] Yeah, we're hoping to get, uh, a few more good up in the coming months, so we'll see how, uh, how soon we can make that happen.

[00:10:04] Um, Brunswick Bands is having a poinsettia sale.

[00:10:06] Order your beautiful holiday plans while supporting Brunswick Bands.

[00:10:09] Red poinsettia stands six and a half inches tall and are perfect for tabletop decorations by Dean's Local Grown Plants, and they're only $12.99.

[00:10:19] So the sale runs now through the 18th.

[00:10:22] All orders must be placed online.

[00:10:24] Plants will be available for pickup after the Winter Band concert on December 3rd.

[00:10:28] So if you'd like to support the band, add a little holiday ambiance to your home or maybe give it to a friend, go to Ohio BBPO and, uh, you'll find the form, the order form there.

[00:10:39] And you can, uh, support the band.

[00:10:41] All right. What's up next?

[00:10:43] Well, we had to say thank you again.

[00:10:45] Thank you again to Brunswick and thank you again to the human being.

[00:10:48] Um, here's a picture of the management over at the human being, giving, uh, Denise over $7,000 that you all raised to support her in her journey with breast cancer.

[00:10:59] So it says here, they sum it up great.

[00:11:01] We feel blessed to be able to help Ms. Wise in our battle.

[00:11:03] One last huge thank you to the Brunswick community for coming together and our best coffee for a cure to date.

[00:11:09] So thank you again.

[00:11:10] I don't know what else to say.

[00:11:12] I'm getting all teary and stuff when I'm looking at this.

[00:11:14] So it's just, our community is amazing.

[00:11:17] Absolutely amazing.

[00:11:18] Yeah, it is.

[00:11:19] And, uh, I thought I'd bring this back up because the poll results are in.

[00:11:23] You, you asked, when does the tree go up?

[00:11:25] Does it go up after Thanksgiving in December or it's already up?

[00:11:29] And we had about 300 votes and 234 of them said after Thanksgiving.

[00:11:34] That's, uh, that's the choice that I would go with.

[00:11:37] In December was, uh, 39 votes and, uh, it's already up.

[00:11:42] So it was 12.

[00:11:42] Whatever makes you happy.

[00:11:44] But, uh, now we know what the, uh, more popular answer is.

[00:11:47] Right.

[00:11:47] This is exciting.

[00:11:49] The Mascarina group is sponsoring the Amphibian Flow Arts Entertainment group to come to the tree lighting this year.

[00:11:57] And they will be kicking things off around 645 and then, um, introducing Santa.

[00:12:03] And Santa will come out and we'll do the official lighting.

[00:12:06] So stay tuned for more details about what's going on, but don't forget to have it on your calendar.

[00:12:12] The second annual Brunswick Community Christmas tree lighting at St. Mark Church, 1330 North Carpenter Street.

[00:12:18] Friday, November 29th at 630 we kick off.

[00:12:21] It was a good time last year.

[00:12:22] Seeing that tree all throughout the holiday season.

[00:12:24] Right.

[00:12:25] Right.

[00:12:26] Yeah.

[00:12:27] Well, let's stick, let's stick with the holiday season.

[00:12:29] And here we go.

[00:12:30] This is the announcement for the Brunswick Community Christmas decorating competition is back again.

[00:12:36] Thank you so much to our sponsors this year.

[00:12:38] Again, we have three categories, business, house and apartment door.

[00:12:44] So with the business, it's sponsored this year by Cool Beans Cafe, which is currently in Medina.

[00:12:49] But as you all know, I hope you all know by now they're building in Brunswick.

[00:12:53] So we're excited about that.

[00:12:54] And that'll be a $200 catering package with them.

[00:12:59] And then the house, if you own a home and you want to decorate it, that prize is $250 in local gift cards.

[00:13:06] And that's sponsored by MT Contracting.

[00:13:09] So they will get gift cards from local area businesses.

[00:13:13] And that will be your prize package, $250 worth.

[00:13:16] And then the apartment door contest is sponsored by Fair Trade Supply Company.

[00:13:20] And they're on Pearl Road next to Luna's if you don't know where they're at.

[00:13:23] And the prize for that will be $100 in cold hard cash.

[00:13:27] Nice.

[00:13:28] So we hope you guys will enter.

[00:13:31] We will start that again December 1st.

[00:13:34] You can start voting.

[00:13:35] We'll let you put your pictures up beginning December 1st.

[00:13:37] It's by the number of likes that you get.

[00:13:40] So get ready for that.

[00:13:42] And December 1st, we'll kick that off.

[00:13:44] But we might do again.

[00:13:45] Very nice.

[00:13:46] And let's head over to Roger at Houndstown and check out the doggy as a print option this week.

[00:13:52] Hey, guys, it's Roger from Houndstown here with my weekly update.

[00:13:56] This week we have Ivy with us.

[00:13:58] Ivy is a one-year-old female hound mix.

[00:14:01] She's just here with us for daycare as we're slowly easing her into the doggy daycare environment.

[00:14:10] Her past life probably wasn't the best, so she's a little shy at first.

[00:14:15] She has warmed up to the dogs that she meets here.

[00:14:18] She does very well both with humans as long as you don't approach her head on.

[00:14:25] She's just shy.

[00:14:26] And then definitely warms up to other pups once she gets into the play areas and has a little time to adjust to them.

[00:14:36] But overall, she's doing just fine.

[00:14:39] There's a bunch of information about her on both our Facebook site.

[00:14:45] Again, that's Houndstown Cleveland Brunswick Facebook page.

[00:14:49] You can always head over to the Bria Animal Rescue site not only to see more information on Ivy,

[00:14:54] but all of the other dogs and cats that they have up for adoption as well.

[00:14:57] So please feel free to share her information from our social post with anybody you think may be interested so we can arrange a meet and greet.

[00:15:07] And she for sure is going to need another dog in the house for whoever's adopting because she does do well having another dog in her presence as well.

[00:15:18] So I also wanted to just tease out, there will be more information to follow on future updates,

[00:15:24] but on Saturday, December 7th, we are going to be doing our annual fundraiser with another rescue where we do pictures with Santa with your dogs.

[00:15:35] And again, that is not just for our customers.

[00:15:37] That's for anybody and everybody in the Brunswick and surrounding area that want to come in on that Saturday and get their pictures taken with Santa,

[00:15:47] both family and dogs or just dogs with Santa.

[00:15:51] But again, there will be more information to be shared.

[00:15:55] But definitely put it on your calendar if you have a pup that you want to get pictures with Santa with.

[00:16:00] We look forward to doing that.

[00:16:01] That'll be our third annual time that we've been doing that with Santa as well.

[00:16:06] So hope everybody has a great weekend and we will be back at you next week.

[00:16:11] Take care.

[00:16:12] All right.

[00:16:13] That is Ivy.

[00:16:14] If you're interested in checking out Ivy,

[00:16:16] you can contact Roger at Houndstown or Bria Animal Rescue.

[00:16:19] Thank you.

[00:16:19] Very cute.

[00:16:20] Very cute.

[00:16:21] So we've got a few things going on this weekend around town.

[00:16:25] It's a lot quieter than it was the last couple of weeks,

[00:16:28] but we still always, there's always something to do.

[00:16:31] So kicking it off at Ignite Brewing is Rob Rox,

[00:16:35] and he goes on at 7 PM and plays till about 10, it says.

[00:16:40] So check over, go get a flatbread,

[00:16:43] most amazing flatbreads ever.

[00:16:45] Yeah.

[00:16:45] Friday the 8th.

[00:16:46] All right.

[00:16:47] Fall Fest, Saturday from 3 to 8 PM is at Faith Walk Church in Columbia Station.

[00:16:52] They have hay rides, animals, fall activities, live music, fun, food,

[00:16:57] and everything going on for the whole family.

[00:16:59] That's a Saturday from 3 to 8 at Faith Walk Church.

[00:17:02] And if the weather stays like it has been,

[00:17:05] it's going to be a great weekend for a festival.

[00:17:07] So check that out.

[00:17:08] All right.

[00:17:09] Let's bounce back over to Ignite.

[00:17:11] We should talk about this one.

[00:17:12] Okay.

[00:17:12] It's about beer.

[00:17:14] Okay.

[00:17:14] Okay.

[00:17:15] I'm excited.

[00:17:17] Okay.

[00:17:17] Monday, November 11th at Ignite,

[00:17:19] they're doing a special tapping of the Ignite Freedom.

[00:17:22] It's on Veterans Day in honor of the veterans,

[00:17:24] and it's going to be $4, 12 ounce pours.

[00:17:28] Description?

[00:17:28] Do you know anything about it?

[00:17:29] Have you heard anything about it?

[00:17:31] I have not had the Ignite Freedom,

[00:17:32] so I don't know what type of beer it is.

[00:17:34] But, you know, got to support the veterans.

[00:17:36] So whatever it is, I think I'll drink it.

[00:17:39] No.

[00:17:39] No.

[00:17:40] Not too many beers that you had that you don't like, right?

[00:17:43] It's true.

[00:17:45] Oh, every once in a while we get the question,

[00:17:47] where is their bingo?

[00:17:48] So November bingo over the Tangled Vine will be November 14th from 6 to 8.

[00:17:55] Prizes.

[00:17:56] Bingo's $10 includes two cards to use all night and a drink, wine, coffee, or pop.

[00:18:01] Tickets must be purchased in advance because of limited space and seating availability.

[00:18:06] So get your tickets early.

[00:18:07] Just go to their Facebook page.

[00:18:09] November Bingo with Prizes is the name of the event page, too.

[00:18:12] So again, that's November 14th, 6 o'clock, Tangled Vine.

[00:18:16] Yeah.

[00:18:16] And this Thursday is your mom's night out over at Hickory Ridge Cinemas

[00:18:20] with wine from the Lappleside Farm.

[00:18:22] They still got tickets?

[00:18:23] Tomorrow night is the last day for tickets.

[00:18:26] Now, some of you know that we do record a little bit earlier in the week.

[00:18:30] And so we're not going to lie to you and say, oh, we're doing this live or anything like that.

[00:18:34] So as of right now, we do have some limited ticket availability.

[00:18:39] So hopefully, you know, you'll still go over there.

[00:18:42] It will be sold out.

[00:18:43] But we're getting close.

[00:18:44] We've got about, I think, 20 tickets left.

[00:18:48] We will have everything from mini tarot card readings,

[00:18:52] and we're going to have appetizers.

[00:18:53] That's included in your $20.

[00:18:56] And wine samples from the winery at Mappleside Farms.

[00:18:59] That's included in your $20.

[00:19:01] And then you'll be able to purchase things like permanent jewelry and also experience.

[00:19:06] Stella Luna Spa is going to be there.

[00:19:09] And so they're going to lots of good stuff.

[00:19:12] Lots of good stuff there.

[00:19:13] So just come and relax before the craziness of the holidays.

[00:19:16] That's going to be Thursday, the 14th at 6.

[00:19:18] But tickets are limited.

[00:19:20] Get them while you can.

[00:19:21] So hopefully we'll see you guys there.

[00:19:23] What else?

[00:19:23] We got anything else?

[00:19:24] That's it, man.

[00:19:25] It was a very, very light weekend.

[00:19:28] Not much going on that I was able to find.
