[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:00:10] Oh yeah, I think we're like episode number 593 or something, right?
[00:00:14] Feels that way.
[00:00:17] 74.
[00:00:19] That was going to be my next guess. That was going to be my next guess. So, all right, let's do this. We've got a ton of activities and events to talk about and just a few things that going on on the page this week.
[00:00:32] So, we're going to kick it off though with congratulations to the seventh grade Brunswick Middle School football team who beat Strongsville and finished their season undefeated.
[00:00:42] Yeah, I was at that game. It was a huge come from behind win. The first quarter they had some struggles but then continued to score heavy throughout the rest of the game 22 to 20. Good job.
[00:00:53] Wow, good job. Maybe you guys could give the Browns some tips. What else we got?
[00:00:59] Oh, there was a post about a lady said that somebody was driving around and stole her political yard signs out of her tree lawn.
[00:01:08] But, uh...
[00:01:08] Tis the season.
[00:01:09] She gave the vehicle description and the people but then the group realized that it might have been the city.
[00:01:15] The city was going around and taking signs out of the tree lawn.
[00:01:20] So, you can't put them between the sidewalk and the street.
[00:01:24] Right.
[00:01:25] So, they took them away and she went back and grabbed them.
[00:01:28] You know, went and picked them back up but I saw a lot less signs.
[00:01:33] Lesson learned, huh?
[00:01:34] Yeah, lesson learned.
[00:01:35] So, do signs do anything? Like, do you think they really do anything?
[00:01:39] Like, are they going to change your vote or be like, oh, there's another one of those signs. Maybe I should vote that way.
[00:01:46] No, signs don't do that for me.
[00:01:48] You know, maybe if I see it in the neighbor's yard, I'll think smart person.
[00:01:53] Yeah.
[00:01:55] Or not.
[00:01:56] Or not.
[00:01:57] But, uh, no sign in the yard is going to change my opinion of anything.
[00:02:01] And I don't think it does to anybody.
[00:02:02] I still don't...
[00:02:03] I don't understand what, uh, what the purpose of signs in the yard these days are.
[00:02:08] I think the only ones that I...
[00:02:09] Well, for a multitude of reasons, I'm only doing issues from now on.
[00:02:13] I'm not supporting and endorsing any candidates from now on.
[00:02:16] Yeah.
[00:02:16] But anyway, I think that's the only time.
[00:02:20] It might make me take a second look if I see like a lot of opposing, especially with the issues that aren't local that I'm not familiar with.
[00:02:26] Yeah.
[00:02:27] It might make me take a, you know, a little bit harder look and just reread stuff.
[00:02:32] Yeah.
[00:02:32] And this, this day and age with social media, I'm not sure you need signs to get your name out there.
[00:02:38] You know, if I ever ran for a city council or mayor or something like that, I think I could do it without signs.
[00:02:45] Oh yeah?
[00:02:45] I think I could.
[00:02:46] I challenge you.
[00:02:49] Moving right along.
[00:02:51] Moving right along.
[00:02:51] Moving right along.
[00:02:53] It's like the dog topic.
[00:02:54] Moving right along.
[00:02:55] We're not going to talk about that.
[00:02:57] Oh gosh.
[00:02:59] There was a lot of noise the other morning.
[00:03:02] Bright and early.
[00:03:03] You could hear sounds from the stadium.
[00:03:05] Marching band was on TV.
[00:03:08] And a bunch of kids too joined them for an early Friday football fever pep rally.
[00:03:15] So channel three was out there.
[00:03:17] And surprisingly, I only saw one post that said, what's that noise?
[00:03:22] Why are they out there at six 30 in the morning?
[00:03:24] And now we know why showing off the best dang band.
[00:03:29] I know I'm not supposed to say that, but yeah.
[00:03:31] And they have a huge event coming up this weekend that we'll tell you a little bit about later in the episode.
[00:03:36] Yeah.
[00:03:36] They're so good.
[00:03:37] Keep up the good work, you guys.
[00:03:39] I can say that because I don't live by the high school.
[00:03:41] So I wouldn't mind being woken up to the, there's a lot of worse things I could be woken up to.
[00:03:46] Um, right.
[00:03:47] High school marching band is music in my ears.
[00:03:51] Manzo, Manzo sports and spirits posted that they are in the Halloween spirit.
[00:03:57] So you got a couple of weeks now here that you can head over there and, uh, check out their decorations.
[00:04:01] They put lots and lots of, uh, Halloween pumpkins and lights up.
[00:04:06] And, uh, just looks like a really festive atmosphere.
[00:04:10] If you want to stay real cool and see something like that.
[00:04:11] Ghosts and goblins.
[00:04:12] Yeah.
[00:04:13] Lots of good stuff going on there.
[00:04:15] They also posted.
[00:04:16] Speaking of Manzos, what else happened?
[00:04:17] They also posted a video and an image that they're looking for a hit and run driver that occurred Saturday night last week.
[00:04:25] Uh, it was a late model Chevy crossover red pulled up in front of Manzo's and threw it in reverse and slammed in the vehicle parking lot.
[00:04:33] And then they sped off.
[00:04:35] So, uh, if you see a red latest late model SUV that has some rear end damage like the one in the video here, give them a call or Brunswick police.
[00:04:45] Go in a couple doors down.
[00:04:47] Niners diner.
[00:04:48] Their igloo is up.
[00:04:50] Igloo dining.
[00:04:50] Spooky igloo dining is up.
[00:04:52] And, uh, you get two hours in their Halloween igloo decorated igloos fits up to eight people.
[00:04:59] Full dinner menu drinks, all that kind of stuff.
[00:05:02] Special themed cocktail or mocktail if you're not, you know, want to go that way.
[00:05:06] It's heated, but please dress accordingly.
[00:05:09] So we did this two years ago in January and it was so much fun.
[00:05:14] We really had a good time.
[00:05:15] It looks like, you know, drink, drinking and eating in the igloo.
[00:05:19] So if you're interested in that, uh, go to Niners diner and pub Facebook page.
[00:05:24] There's a link there.
[00:05:25] Get the tickets.
[00:05:26] It does book up.
[00:05:27] I, there may be only one right now, but I think for Christmas they put a second one in.
[00:05:31] So.
[00:05:32] And it says a hundred dollar minimum food drink spend and 20% gratuity.
[00:05:36] Uh, but eight people or six people or four people are probably going to get to a hundred dollars.
[00:05:41] Maybe not.
[00:05:41] Heck yeah.
[00:05:43] Right.
[00:05:43] That's not a problem.
[00:05:44] And 20% gratuity is pretty fair for somebody that has to come out in the cold and bring you
[00:05:49] your food.
[00:05:50] Absolutely.
[00:05:52] I was excited about this until I found out I couldn't wear my pajamas.
[00:05:56] So Brunswick Ohio parks and rec is doing an evening shallow water aerobics class on Tuesdays from 545 to 645 price per class.
[00:06:06] $6 for members, $7 for non-members, or you can get a 10 class punch card for 45 and 55.
[00:06:13] That has started this past week.
[00:06:15] So if you're interested in that, give the rec center a call and you can still join at any time.
[00:06:20] And, uh, Taylor, if you're listening, if you change your mind and we can come in our pajamas, let me know.
[00:06:25] Is that, was that, was that, uh, image AI generated?
[00:06:29] There's no way they put three grandmas in pajamas in a pool just to take a picture.
[00:06:33] That's not our pool.
[00:06:34] Um, but I love it.
[00:06:37] Yeah.
[00:06:37] Well, that's probably the first giveaway.
[00:06:39] That's no, I was gonna say that Southwest, but that's not Southwest either.
[00:06:42] I don't know where that is, but yeah, it could be AI.
[00:06:45] I'm telling you, we got to watch that AI stuff.
[00:06:47] Yeah.
[00:06:48] Yeah.
[00:06:48] You can fool you.
[00:06:49] Did you see the one with the giraffe where they're saving it off the side of a mountain?
[00:06:52] No, I didn't see that one.
[00:06:54] Yeah.
[00:06:54] That one.
[00:06:54] No, I just, but you know, I shared the one about with the alligator and the puppy and
[00:06:58] the, yeah.
[00:06:59] Uh huh.
[00:06:59] The toddler.
[00:07:01] So from the floods and stuff.
[00:07:03] Yeah.
[00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:04] We're going to have to really keep a close eye on stuff.
[00:07:08] So, but, uh, I am seeing, I am seeing more Brunswick parks and recs doing, um, member
[00:07:13] and non-member classes where the non-member price is pretty reasonable.
[00:07:18] Right.
[00:07:18] It's very close to, yeah.
[00:07:20] Absolutely.
[00:07:20] So even if you're not part of the rec, it's a good idea to follow that page and see what
[00:07:25] offerings they have.
[00:07:27] Yeah.
[00:07:27] And the end of the, sorry.
[00:07:34] Rosie.
[00:07:36] Ro.
[00:07:40] Oh my gosh.
[00:07:41] Sorry.
[00:07:42] I'm sorry.
[00:07:43] Can you still hear him?
[00:07:44] We're heading over to Houndstown anyways.
[00:07:48] All right.
[00:07:49] Well, on that cue, on that note of all the noise in my house, let's head over to Roger
[00:07:54] and take a listen at Pooch of the Week.
[00:07:57] Hey everybody.
[00:07:58] It's Roger from Houndstown with my weekly update.
[00:08:00] Just wanted to let you know that, uh, this week we have Echo with us.
[00:08:04] Um, Echo is a five-year-old, uh, male Alaskan Malamute.
[00:08:08] Um, came in and is doing fantastic in the packs that he's been with, um, gets along with the
[00:08:14] other dogs in, um, our team members here as well.
[00:08:18] Um, just looking for his forever home.
[00:08:20] So if you, uh, know anybody that might be interested in doing a meet and greet, please
[00:08:24] have them reach out to us at 330-460-3052.
[00:08:30] Also, you can go to our, um, Houndstown Cleveland Brunswick Facebook page or the Berea Animal
[00:08:35] Rescue site, not only to see pictures of Echo, but also to see all of the dogs and cats that
[00:08:41] they have available for adoption there as well.
[00:08:43] Um, lastly, just as a reminder, remember we're here for you, um, Monday through Saturday
[00:08:48] for a doggy daycare and 365 days a year for overnight boarding.
[00:08:53] So, um, we would love to help you.
[00:08:54] If you've never been here before, feel free to reach out to us.
[00:08:58] Again, our number is 330-460-3052.
[00:09:01] We give you your first day of doggy daycare free, um, in order to come in and check us out.
[00:09:06] And we do a evaluation with the dogs as well.
[00:09:08] So again, hopefully we can find Echo a, um, forever home.
[00:09:13] Uh, do know that this weekend he will be headed back to Berea Animal Rescue if we don't get
[00:09:18] him adopted, um, uh, for all of the people that come through on the weekends there to see
[00:09:23] him as well.
[00:09:24] But, uh, hopefully we can find him his forever home.
[00:09:27] Everybody have a great weekend and we'll be back next week.
[00:09:29] Take care.
[00:09:30] Bye.
[00:09:31] And, uh, that was Echo, five-year-old male Alaskan Malamute.
[00:09:35] Head over to Roger at Houndstown to check him out or to Berea Animal Rescue.
[00:09:41] And speaking of Roger, he is bringing one of the puppies to, uh, the trunk or treat event
[00:09:45] this weekend.
[00:09:45] So we'll give you the details on that in a little bit.
[00:09:48] So make sure you, um, we're going to have a lot of dogs there between the search and
[00:09:52] rescue place and Roger and it's going to be a fun weekend.
[00:09:56] Somebody else is bringing a dog too, I think.
[00:09:57] So let's get into things to do in the two one two.
[00:10:01] I know I jumped ahead.
[00:10:02] So sorry.
[00:10:03] That's what it is.
[00:10:04] We're here.
[00:10:04] It's time.
[00:10:05] Starting with, uh, starting with tomorrow night, uh, which is Friday, the 18th.
[00:10:13] The human being is, uh, has coffee for a cure.
[00:10:16] What?
[00:10:16] 100% of the sales are being donated to a local teacher, Denise Wise in her battle against
[00:10:23] cancer.
[00:10:24] She's a, so that's not just around.
[00:10:26] That's all day.
[00:10:27] That's 5am to 9pm.
[00:10:30] 5am.
[00:10:31] Yes.
[00:10:32] Wow.
[00:10:33] That's all day.
[00:10:34] All day.
[00:10:36] 5am to 9pm.
[00:10:38] 100% of the sales are being donated, uh, going directly to Denise.
[00:10:42] She's been with the Brunswick City Schools for 26 years.
[00:10:46] And, um, in August she was diagnosed with breast cancer and so she had to early retire so she
[00:10:51] could concentrate on her treatment and stuff like that.
[00:10:53] So please come out and support her.
[00:10:55] Yeah.
[00:10:56] Do what you do best.
[00:10:57] Fill up the gas tank cause there may be a little bit of a line so I'm telling everybody
[00:11:00] make sure you fill up the gas tank first.
[00:11:02] I think they'll add some extra staff.
[00:11:04] They got two drive throughs.
[00:11:05] Let's see if we do, uh, 900 cars at three bucks a cup.
[00:11:09] That's almost $3,000.
[00:11:11] I think we can do that.
[00:11:12] If not more Brunswick.
[00:11:14] Right.
[00:11:14] So pull up for a cup for a good cause.
[00:11:16] Let's do it you guys.
[00:11:17] Going on Saturday.
[00:11:18] That was all we had for Friday.
[00:11:20] So spend your day doing that.
[00:11:22] Have two cups.
[00:11:23] Go through twice.
[00:11:25] Uh, Saturday 9am till 4pm.
[00:11:27] This is a long event.
[00:11:28] It's the 41st annual Sound Spectacular.
[00:11:31] Each year, um, Brunswick Marching Band has a, uh, competition.
[00:11:36] This year featuring 14 bands from all across Ohio.
[00:11:40] Um, the gates open at 9am and the performance start at 11am.
[00:11:44] And you can get details on their website, bbpo.org.
[00:11:50] So expect to hear music all day long.
[00:11:52] Saturday 9 to 4.
[00:11:54] That would be pretty cool.
[00:11:55] It's going to be great this weekend too.
[00:11:57] It's going to be really nice out.
[00:11:58] So let's, uh, get out there and do some things.
[00:12:00] Um, also on Saturday, the 19th from 10am to noon, uh, Brunswick Middle School is, um,
[00:12:06] bringing together a wealth of resources for family with children ages 0 to 12.
[00:12:11] And it's a free event.
[00:12:12] You can explore educational opportunities, wellness services, community organizations,
[00:12:17] all to help your child's growth and development.
[00:12:20] So it's called Bright Futures Education and Wellness Fair.
[00:12:23] And again, that is Saturday from 10 to 12 at the middle school.
[00:12:27] Yeah.
[00:12:28] This sounds like a great event for, um, students who are struggling in certain areas or, uh,
[00:12:33] if they want a little extra boost to, um, improve their both academic and social skills,
[00:12:39] it's a great free resource.
[00:12:41] And if it's free, it's for me.
[00:12:42] Yeah.
[00:12:42] And, uh, all attendees can enter for a raffle to win a Brunswick swag bag valued at over $300.
[00:12:48] Yeah.
[00:12:49] And, uh, later that day Chick-fil-A in Brunswick is having a spooktacular time over at their
[00:12:55] trunk or treat car show from 2 to 5 PM.
[00:12:58] They're going to have prizes for best costume and best desk rated car.
[00:13:02] They're going to have some classic cars there as well as, uh, games raffle prizes and more.
[00:13:06] And they're, uh, that's a partnership with Brunswick VFW and Ride for Life.
[00:13:10] No cost there.
[00:13:12] 2 to 5 PM.
[00:13:13] Very nice.
[00:13:13] Yeah.
[00:13:14] 2 to 5.
[00:13:15] And I talked to them last week about, um, something else we were on the phone with them and he said
[00:13:22] it's going to be a good one.
[00:13:23] So make sure you guys get over there again.
[00:13:26] That's between two and five on the 19th.
[00:13:29] Yeah.
[00:13:31] Is it my turn or your turn?
[00:13:33] No, I don't know.
[00:13:34] Do we have turns even?
[00:13:35] Yeah.
[00:13:35] Uh, we also have, we also have the biggest, I call it the biggest Halloween party in Brunswick.
[00:13:41] Uh, the Herman's Halloween party.
[00:13:43] It's got, uh, cash prizes for the top three costumes this Saturday at 9 PM.
[00:13:49] It's got DJ Mike Jones from 9 PM till 1 AM dressed to impress.
[00:13:54] And, uh, there's $350 in prizes available as well as, uh, drink and shot specials and
[00:14:03] the judging starts at midnight.
[00:14:04] So make sure some of that drink includes a Red Bull.
[00:14:07] Right.
[00:14:08] So that you can make it all the way.
[00:14:09] Smart.
[00:14:11] Smart.
[00:14:12] Oh my goodness.
[00:14:14] Uh, as if, as if there isn't enough going on on Saturday, you could just make your way
[00:14:17] around town as usual.
[00:14:20] Island Troy is going to be at Niners starting at five o'clock.
[00:14:23] Uh, he's going from five to eight.
[00:14:25] Just go and check him out again.
[00:14:26] That's Island Troy at Niners diner from five to eight on the 19th.
[00:14:30] And, uh, six to nine on Saturday, the 19th is front porch jamming with red wagon farm,
[00:14:36] three hour event with craft beers, local wine, and a variety of acoustic music.
[00:14:42] No alternative is going to be at Manzo's and starting at eight 30 Saturday and the 19th.
[00:14:49] Check them out Saturday.
[00:14:50] Um, again, they start eight 30 at Manzo's and that fun decorated spot over there.
[00:14:57] Yeah.
[00:14:58] Yeah.
[00:14:58] Moving on to Sunday, we have a boozy brunch at hot shots from 11 AM till 2 PM.
[00:15:04] An epic brunch experience, the gravy train, French toast, Woody, a large menu of things
[00:15:10] to have that morning with $4 mimosas, $4 Bloody Marys and a great food and fun and vibe.
[00:15:17] Very nice.
[00:15:18] Um, on Sunday at two o'clock from two to five, actually, it's kind of like an open house.
[00:15:23] Uh, it's a retirement party for former Brunswick Hills zoning inspector, Evelyn Kriz.
[00:15:29] I hope I said that right.
[00:15:30] I'm so sorry, Evelyn.
[00:15:31] And it's going to be a Goodyear big barn, 691 Pearl Road, Springmas farms.
[00:15:35] If you guys don't know by the other name, Goodyear big barn.
[00:15:39] Again, that's from two to five.
[00:15:41] Um, that's being put together by Dave over there, Mr. Goodyear.
[00:15:45] 22 years she was with the township.
[00:15:49] Wow.
[00:15:49] And, uh, then retired after that's a, that's a long time.
[00:15:52] That was a long haul.
[00:15:53] So, um, make sure you stop by, congratulate her on her happy retirement Sunday from two
[00:15:58] to five.
[00:15:59] Yep.
[00:15:59] And, uh, you know all about this, the seventh annual trunk or treat over at Hickory Ridge.
[00:16:03] Why don't you tell us about it?
[00:16:04] Yeah, I know a little bit about it.
[00:16:07] So if you haven't gotten your tickets by now, um, you could try, but we do not sell tickets
[00:16:13] at the door.
[00:16:14] So make sure you do them immediately.
[00:16:17] Probably we will shut down the tickets on Saturday.
[00:16:20] So make sure you get them either at the theater online.
[00:16:22] This is our seventh annual trunk or treat event with over 65 units, including Lucas, who

[00:17:45] time.
[00:17:45] Have a roller derby.
[00:17:46] Yeah.
[00:17:46] They're pretty fun.

[00:21:29] So, you know, you can find that post online.
[00:21:32] Maybe next week we'll talk about that.
[00:21:33] You need to, you need to heal yourself from that one.
[00:21:39] People are so mad.
[00:21:40] I mean, when, when kids are involved, it's understandable to get, to get upset and to.
[00:21:45] Yeah.
[00:21:45] People get very passionate and there's so many different layers from what I understand.
[00:21:51] And it's been going on for so long.
[00:21:53] And so it's just, I guess it's probably a good thing that things are coming to an end and let's
[00:21:58] keep the kids in mind and make sure that they just get the best experience possible and,
[00:22:02] and have the, you know, the resources to, to learn the sports and, and to have fun.
[00:22:09] So that's right.
