BRUNSWICK – More than 900 residents are without power in Brunswick as downed electric poles have forced a road closure on Laurel Road.

According to the Brunswick Police Department, Laurel Road is closed between Brintnall Drive and Maxwell Boulevard. The road will remain closed until Ohio Edison completes repairs, and authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area.

FirstEnergy reports that 955 customers are affected by the outage, with power expected to be restored by 1 p.m. The impacted area stretches from Huntington Elementary School to the east, near Sleepy Hollow Road to the south, and the Hopkins Park area to the west.
The power outage comes as much of the region was placed under a tornado watch on Sunday.
