[00:00:02] Welcome to the Brunswick Group Therapy Podcast with Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:00:10] We're back for episode number 80.
[00:00:12] Eighty already? Holy crap, that's a lot. That's a lie. Speaking of a lot, we've got just a few posts and a lot of events to talk about. So let's get into it.
[00:00:24] Yeah, we do. Let's start with the Team Christmas Cow or Team Frosty.
[00:00:29] Did you total them up?
[00:00:30] No. No, it looks like it was pretty split.
[00:00:35] It was pretty neck and neck, wasn't it?
[00:00:37] Yeah.
[00:00:38] Well...
[00:00:39] Although, you have to count mine. I said Team Christmas Cow and I had 24 likes on my comment. So you have to count those 24 too.
[00:00:47] I'm Team Christmas Cow too. It's a Brunswick thing.
[00:00:51] Yeah.
[00:00:53] Although, Taylor from Parks and Rec said that we might be expecting something different. I don't know. We'll have to see what they put up.
[00:01:00] Maybe it'll be up before we light the tree tomorrow night. I don't know.
[00:01:03] Well, I saw they put the snowflakes up and the stuff at the corner of 303 and 42. So it's just a matter of flipping the switch, which I think they do.
[00:01:12] Right. Yeah. So we'll see. Maybe they'll coincide with us. That'd be nice, huh?
[00:01:16] It would be cool. Yeah.
[00:01:17] Yeah. So tell us about this. We got another vendor announcement for Market 42.
[00:01:22] Yep. Market 42 continues to add more and more vendors. Wayland's Handcrafted Ice Cream will be one of the vendors you can visit inside Market 42. And look at how yummy these things are.
[00:01:34] It's pretty good. Looking pretty good there.
[00:01:37] It's got a giant ice cream there.
[00:01:39] Never met an ice cream I didn't like.
[00:01:41] Ooh. So.
[00:01:42] Right?
[00:01:42] One more to add.
[00:01:44] All right. What else we got?
[00:01:46] Oh, man. The monster post. What's going on here?
[00:01:51] Monster post. So there was a local mom who was concerned that the Brunswick Skate Station serves monsters to the kids.
[00:02:01] It's energy drinks. So there was, I don't know, gosh, almost 400 comments on that. Kind of all over the board. But I think most of them were like, yeah, it's been that way for years and the kids could be doing worse things kind of stuff.
[00:02:17] So I don't know. What do you think?
[00:02:19] You know, you've got to monitor your kids. Obviously, drinking a monster every day as a kid that age is probably not a great thing. But, you know, a monster at the skate station every now and then might be okay.
[00:02:32] Yeah. In moderation. Everything in moderation, right?
[00:02:35] Yeah.
[00:02:35] Yeah. Look, who am I to be giving advice on that one?
[00:02:38] Right. Right. Yeah.
[00:02:39] I used to live out those mean beans when I used to have trouble getting up early in the morning. And those mean beans really got me going.
[00:02:49] Oh, my gosh.
[00:02:50] It's worked my way out of it.
[00:02:51] My favorite. Mean beans are my favorite.
[00:02:53] That's my favorite.
[00:02:56] So in other news, the Revolving Sushi Bar opened and you went and visited the grand opening or a day or two after of the Revolving Sushi Bar. Tell us about that.
[00:03:07] Yeah, I did. Looked like a lot of fun. It turned out it was a lot of fun being able to just pick your sushi right off the conveyor belt as it goes by.
[00:03:15] Everything was clearly marked. I'm deathly allergic to shrimp, as you know. So that always concerns me. But everything...
[00:03:23] You're still with us.
[00:03:24] I'm still here.
[00:03:25] That was good.
[00:03:26] And if you're really concerned, you can order it individually on a little tablet on your table. And so if you don't see something you like that's rolling back and forth through there, you can order it on the tablet and it'll come on a separate conveyor belt right to your table.
[00:03:41] So they do have that little monorail up on top there?
[00:03:44] Yeah, they do.
[00:03:45] That's so cool.
[00:03:47] Those are so cool.
[00:03:47] It just shows up.
[00:03:49] And every 12 plates, you get a little token to spin the wheel in that vending machine and we got this little green elephant.
[00:04:01] But good times. Yeah. Welcome to Brunswick.
[00:04:04] It was good.
[00:04:05] Yeah, absolutely. Something different. Something fun. I have to go check them out really soon.
[00:04:11] Yeah. Brunswick Youth Baseball and Softball Association is the new rec league, I guess is what you're calling them, right? Is what we would call them?
[00:04:20] Mm-hmm. Rec and travel.
[00:04:21] Rec and travel. Oh, rec and travel. Okay, great.
[00:04:24] They need a logo.
[00:04:26] They are asking for your input.
[00:04:29] And for anybody who wants to design something and try something, submit it on their Facebook page before Christmas Eve.
[00:04:38] It must incorporate the three things.
[00:04:40] It must incorporate something from the city of Brunswick.
[00:04:43] It must incorporate an American flag.
[00:04:45] And it must be a unique work of art submitted by someone under the age of 18.
[00:04:50] So that leaves you an eye out.
[00:04:51] Yeah.
[00:04:52] But you've got one daughter that could do it.
[00:04:55] Yeah.
[00:04:55] She's a little artsy.
[00:04:56] Yeah.
[00:04:56] She's kind of artsy.
[00:04:59] Yep.
[00:05:00] You know, the Brunswick logo with the clock tower was created by a Brunswick student.
[00:05:05] And it's continued to be interesting.
[00:05:05] Yeah, I did hear that.
[00:05:07] And then I think you could get your daughter to do something with the water towers.
[00:05:12] The water towers are my thing.
[00:05:14] You can't...
[00:05:15] Eh.
[00:05:16] Gosh.
[00:05:17] You're so territorial over your water towers.
[00:05:20] Those are my things.
[00:05:22] But...
[00:05:23] Oh, my goodness.
[00:05:24] If you're interested in that, that needs to be submitted by December 24th.
[00:05:28] So go to their Facebook page and get that in.
[00:05:31] I look forward to seeing those.
[00:05:32] That should be fun.
[00:05:33] Yeah, for sure.
[00:05:35] All right.
[00:05:36] Over in the township, Brunswick Hills Police are having a campaign right now that goes through December 21st.
[00:05:43] It's called Share the Warmth.
[00:05:44] They are looking for brand new items.
[00:05:47] We want to remind you, we told you about this before, but just a reminder because things have been coming in pretty slow.
[00:05:52] And I know everyone's getting hit hard for Donate Here, Donate There.
[00:05:56] So if you can help at all, you can drop off in the lobby at the police station at the corner of Substation in Grafton at the police station 24-7, 505 Substation Road.
[00:06:08] And they are looking for sizes for T through adults, winter hats, socks, gloves, boots, mittens, coats, and hoodies.
[00:06:15] All the items donated will be distributed by SRO Fisher.
[00:06:19] He is the school resource officer.
[00:06:21] He will get those to those in need working with the schools.
[00:06:25] Help him out if he can.
[00:06:27] Yep.
[00:06:28] And Rapid Wrench and Lube wants everybody to know that they have a Toys for Tots box.
[00:06:33] They're looking for new unwrapped toys, trying to fill that box.
[00:06:37] And if you bring something in, they will give you a $30 gift card.
[00:06:41] So that's a no-brainer, right?
[00:06:43] Everybody needs some car work.
[00:06:51] Now through December 9th.
[00:06:53] So if you have a new unwrapped toy, stop on up there and get a $30 gift card.
[00:06:57] Do it for a future purchase.
[00:06:58] Yeah, we have another week to take advantage of that.
[00:07:00] So head on over there.
[00:07:01] And they're over on Marks Road.
[00:07:03] Yes.
[00:07:04] And, oh gosh, let's talk about, this was our big news of the week, right?
[00:07:10] Hoffman Tree went and put the tree from the side of St. Marks to the front of St. Marks.
[00:07:16] So St. Marks had a tree that needed to come down.
[00:07:18] It was a little too close to the building.
[00:07:20] So they said, oh, we can donate the tree this year.
[00:07:23] And we're like, oh, that's perfect.
[00:07:24] So they moved it around the building, around the outside of the building next door,
[00:07:28] and put it up there in his custom-made stand that he did last year.
[00:07:34] And then the next day, what happens?
[00:07:40] It's tradition.
[00:07:41] It really is tradition.
[00:07:42] Well, the next day, Bedard Brothers decorated it.
[00:07:48] Oh, that's true.
[00:07:48] Right?
[00:07:49] That's true.
[00:07:49] Sorry, I skipped a day.
[00:07:50] Yeah.
[00:07:51] With the assistance of ABC Equipment Rental, who donated the lift.
[00:07:55] That was a...
[00:07:56] Absolutely.
[00:07:56] People don't realize that's a long job because you can't just reach around the tree and run the lights.
[00:08:03] You got to move that lift around it, around it, around it.
[00:08:07] You know, I think they probably, I think they used like 10 strands, 12 strands.
[00:08:12] Right.
[00:08:13] They were out there for seven hours.
[00:08:15] Yeah.
[00:08:16] Yeah, that was a long time.
[00:08:18] And speaking of which, while we're speaking of the lights, let's mention this real quick,
[00:08:21] that we even have an option for the community to donate because we're going to get commercial lights.
[00:08:28] Some of the lights didn't hold up too well in storage.
[00:08:31] And honestly, they weren't, you know, we got what was donated to us, which we were so grateful for because they were almost $700 worth of lights.
[00:08:40] So, but some of them didn't survive.
[00:08:42] And we thought, if we're going to keep doing this, we need to make an investment.
[00:08:46] So, you, the community, is going to have the opportunity to donate through St. Mark Lutheran Church.
[00:08:52] So, that is tax deductible and you can help us get commercial lights.
[00:08:56] And we'll be putting those up next year.
[00:08:58] So, they'll go on the tree next year.
[00:08:59] Yeah.
[00:09:00] Anyway.
[00:09:01] Okay.
[00:09:01] Now, I'll let you do it.
[00:09:03] Go ahead.
[00:09:03] Now what happened?
[00:09:05] Now.
[00:09:06] It happened the next day.
[00:09:07] Yeah.
[00:09:08] So, Tuesday morning it was reported that the tree went limp in the sand.
[00:09:14] It was about a 35 degree angle.
[00:09:17] I think it got even worse, maybe 45.
[00:09:20] A lot of people let us know that it was leaner, which actually happened last year.
[00:09:25] It did.
[00:09:26] It did happen last year.
[00:09:27] So, and I just want to note, though, that it happens to the best because the tree at the White House last year fell over completely.
[00:09:36] Oh, wow.
[00:09:36] So, we're in good company, you know.
[00:09:39] But anyway, by the end of the day, Brad went and had that fixed and we are all set to go tomorrow night.
[00:09:47] That's it.
[00:09:47] I mean, what else is there to say?
[00:09:49] But I know it's like a tradition for it to fall over every year.
[00:09:52] I think maybe, you know, we should plan that.
[00:09:56] Right.
[00:09:57] So, yeah.
[00:09:58] Join us tomorrow night for the Christmas tree lighting event.
[00:10:02] That's at St.
[00:10:03] Mark, 630 p.m.
[00:10:04] With a whole lot of fun stuff going on.
[00:10:07] Why don't you name some of it for me?
[00:10:09] Oh, gosh.
[00:10:10] We've got the reindeer from Spring Mist Farms will be there.
[00:10:15] Santa Claus will be there.
[00:10:16] We have Christmas carolers, Girl Scouts and high school students that will be Christmas caroling all throughout the property.
[00:10:22] We've got Celeste and her ice cream truck that turns into a hot chocolate bar.
[00:10:28] Compliments of Human Bean and Brunswick Hills Police Association.
[00:10:34] And then we have Nicole Ducina and friends have been baking up a storm and they've baked over 200 cookies.
[00:10:42] And then we've also had some cookies donated.
[00:10:44] Chick-fil-A donated some.
[00:10:45] And Brunswick Hills Police Association donated some.
[00:10:49] So we'll have cookies and hot chocolate.
[00:10:52] And then the highlight besides the lighting in Santa is going to be Amphibian Flow Arts Entertainment Company.
[00:11:01] And that is sponsored by the Mascarina Realty Group.
[00:11:04] So we are so grateful to everybody that has helped put this together.
[00:11:09] And we hope to see everybody there at 630.
[00:11:12] It is going to be chilly, but there's no blizzard or anything.
[00:11:16] The snow is not going to start until later.
[00:11:17] So we're good.
[00:11:19] Yeah, it's going to be a good time.
[00:11:21] And nice to see the community coming together, both the businesses, the individuals, and everybody to just...
[00:11:27] Yeah, and we also want to thank Christy Piper too, because she made sure that we're going to have a police presence to help people cross the streets this year.
[00:11:35] So that was a little hairy last year because we had so many people.
[00:11:39] We didn't know how many to expect, but there will be...
[00:11:42] The city of Brunswick will be there helping people safely cross the street and we'll have some...
[00:11:48] Support there.
[00:11:49] So we want to thank her for that.
[00:11:51] All right.
[00:11:52] And that's all the posts we have.
[00:11:53] Let's head over to Roger.
[00:11:55] He's going to tell us about a Santa Claus photo event he's got going on and some other things.
[00:12:01] Great.
[00:12:02] Hey, Lucas and Kimberly.
[00:12:04] Hopefully you had a great Thanksgiving.
[00:12:06] Just wanted to reach out.
[00:12:07] Roger from Houndstown.
[00:12:08] This week we actually didn't bring any pups in from Brea Animal Rescue with a short week and holiday, but I would encourage anybody who is interested in possibly adopting any dogs or cats, you can head over to the Brea Animal Rescue site.
[00:12:21] See all of the dogs that are in cats that are up for adoption.
[00:12:24] I just want to plug again a week from tomorrow.
[00:12:28] So Saturday, December 7th, we are having a Pictures with Santa event here from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
[00:12:35] Anybody and everybody in Brunswick and the surrounding area, you don't have to be an existing customer, can come in with your pups, get pictures with Santa, whether you just do it with the pups only or as a family.
[00:12:46] There is a suggested $10 donation.
[00:12:48] You can get all the details about the Pictures with Santa event at our Houndstown, Cleveland, Brunswick Facebook page.
[00:12:55] All of the details are on there.
[00:12:56] We do highly recommend pre-registering, but you can come the same day.
[00:13:01] And we look forward to hopefully meeting lots of new folks here in the Brunswick area that have pups and have a great day taking pictures with Santa.
[00:13:11] So I just wanted to offer that up.
[00:13:14] And then lastly, do remember here at Houndstown, we are a fully interactive doggy daycare and overnight boarding facility.
[00:13:20] So we offer a great place for your dog to come hang out on a daily basis or if you do need a place for them to stay while you head out of town overnight.
[00:13:29] That's what we are all about.
[00:13:30] We do give you your first day free to come in and check us out.
[00:13:34] First day of daycare free.
[00:13:35] You can call us for all those details.
[00:13:37] Anybody has any questions, not only on maybe the Pictures with Santa event or any questions about our facility, feel free to give us a call here at Houndstown, Brunswick.
[00:13:46] Our number is 330-460-3052.
[00:13:50] I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving and we look forward to the month of December and celebrating Christmas in our New Year's.
[00:13:57] So take care and have a great weekend, everybody.
[00:14:01] All right.
[00:14:02] Thanks, Roger, for that.
[00:14:03] Let's get into some things to do in the 212.
[00:14:05] Oh, there's a lot.
[00:14:06] There's a lot.
[00:14:08] So it's that time of the year.
[00:14:10] So Peak Season Tree Stand is open at the corner of Pearl and Grafton.
[00:14:14] They open tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
[00:14:18] If you're looking for your live tree, that's always a great spot to get it.
[00:14:22] And they have tons to choose from, including color trees.
[00:14:26] So blue ones and purple ones and stuff like that.
[00:14:28] So again, over the corner of Grafton and Pearl, Peak Seasons is their 10th anniversary.
[00:14:34] The lot will be open tomorrow morning at 9.
[00:14:36] Yeah.
[00:14:37] And I saw in a comment on their page that some people buy those colored trees and put them in their front yard.
[00:14:43] I thought that was great.
[00:14:44] Oh.
[00:14:45] I mean, I have a...
[00:14:45] That is pretty cool.
[00:14:46] Yeah.
[00:14:47] Yeah.
[00:14:47] I think I want a blue tree for my front yard.
[00:14:50] I was just going to say, maybe we need a Brunswick blue tree.
[00:14:52] Yeah.
[00:14:53] To go over there.
[00:14:54] Double Yarnham's all over it.
[00:14:55] Yeah.
[00:14:57] Yeah.
[00:14:58] Oh my goodness.
[00:14:59] All right.
[00:15:00] What's up next?
[00:15:01] What do you got?
[00:15:02] We got Equine Essentials.
[00:15:05] The horse store, I guess I should call it.
[00:15:10] Uh, it's having a Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sale, 11 a.m. till 5 p.m.
[00:15:16] It's their biggest sale of the year with store-wide savings, raffles, gifts with purchases, door busters, and a packed clearance section.
[00:15:24] They're over there in Marks Plaza, and that's a good reminder for Small Business Saturday to try and shop local.
[00:15:31] If everyone just put $100 into the Brunswick economy by shopping locally this holiday, it would make a huge impact on our businesses and our community.
[00:15:42] Yeah.
[00:15:43] That would be good.
[00:15:43] And even if you don't have a horse or maybe you know somebody that's a horse lover or something like that, I bet you they have ornaments or whatever.
[00:15:50] Go in and just support them however you can.
[00:15:54] Yeah.
[00:15:55] Um, this Saturday at 6 o'clock is Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, and that is going to be over at Hoppy Dudes in Hinkley, and that's on Ridge Road.
[00:16:08] That starts this Saturday at 6 o'clock.
[00:16:11] Betty's Bomb Ass Burgers Food Truck will be on site from 5 to 8, serving up the best burgers in the land.
[00:16:18] They'll also have a special edition of Music Bingo.
[00:16:21] Christmas Music Bingo starts at 7.
[00:16:23] It says.
[00:16:25] Yeah.
[00:16:26] Also going on Saturday night at 7 p.m. until 9 is live music with Tommy Desenzo and Rob Johnson.
[00:16:33] That's over at Tangled Vine, and they play all original all the time.
[00:16:38] More music over at Manzo's Saturday night at 8.30.
[00:16:42] It's Kodiak making their Manzo's debut.
[00:16:46] Looks like a couple guitars go in there, and looks like a great-looking band there.
[00:16:52] So head on over to Manzo's for Kodiak Saturday night at 8.30.
[00:16:58] Once you get the live music out of the way, Sunday at 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. over at Hendrix Family Dentistry on Center Road.
[00:17:06] They're having a photo opportunity with Santa.
[00:17:09] Just bring a food donation for Feeding Medina County, and in exchange, you'll receive a photo with Santa.
[00:17:16] That's 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Hendrix Family Dental on Center Road.
[00:17:21] Oh, wait.
[00:17:21] Well, I didn't know this one was coming up.
[00:17:23] Did you know this one was coming up, or should we have known?
[00:17:26] Probably not, because we're not psychic.
[00:17:27] See, you got my joke.
[00:17:29] You did.
[00:17:30] There's a psychic fair this Sunday, you guys.
[00:17:32] From 12 to 5 over at Brunswick VFW.
[00:17:35] Seven readers, seven vendors, free admission, tarot, astrology, mediums, home reading, relationships, crystals, jewelry.
[00:17:46] Oh, my gosh.
[00:17:47] Readings are only $25.
[00:17:48] And so head on over to Brunswick VFW if you'd like to see your future Sunday from 12 to 5.
[00:17:56] Yeah.
[00:17:57] And a little bit farther down the road, they have Christmas in the Valley.
[00:18:00] It's a 5K run.
[00:18:02] There's also a walk available.
[00:18:04] That's December 8th at 10 a.m. start.
